Giving someone a smile doesent cost a thing!

Thursday, May 17, 2012

I know that life is tough,I know that when someone gives me attitude it's hard not to return it!Recently while traveling a young lady was being very sweet, proffessional and sunny. My DH was quite impressed by her attitude. We were at McDonald's getting some breakfast for the start of a long boring trip.I hate travel!!We walked through the door and my feet went sliding on the humidity affected floors. She hopped from behind the counter and asked was I ok!She took my order from my chair and then proceeded to cheer me up with her 14 kt smile. We were laughing and my husband told her he enjoyed her bright and sunny attitude. If more people wore a smile and treated others with kindness, maybe just maybe there would be less anger and blowups. After telling "sarah" how she affected our day she was beaming with pride. My DD works at a fast food place and is accosted daily by verbal beratings and it makes her so upset. Her boss stepped in and made sure the people left WITHOUT food.Road rage has caused so many idiots to kill others! We share the roads and make many mistakes ourselves, who is perfect?Recently, two young mothers got into an altercation, throwing blows at each other eventually being arrested...with their little kids in the vehicles witnessing the whole thing!Lets all try to change one thing about the way we think..you may be tired from shopping or work, they may be exhausted working two jobs or got laid off.You may have it bad, they may have it worse. It takes seconds to think..Oh well stuff happens..Am I right?Life is too short to get out somewhere shopping or driving and stress about someone doing you wrong..I hope I gave ya'll food for thought!Have an awesome day!!! emoticonSUSAN

Susan, I will never claim to be as nice as you always are, but I CAN claim that I have discovered the value of a smile. I frequently test this out. When passing strangers on foot or in the car, if I give even a little teeny half smile, I never fail to get a smile back.

When I worked at a theme park, I would tell the kids that I was a smile collector and would they give me one to add to my collection. It was fun.

One never knows how a smile can change someone's day. Too bad more people don't smile and do kind things for others. I agree with everything you say in your blog.

So far,so good but,im scared!

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Pain of any kind sucks but, back pain leads to other pain!In my feet, neck, legs, shoulders. My doc isnt giving me anymore leeway with my exercise until june 11th.He says im still too stiff and caution is for the best.I feel like a caged animal but get to start physical therapy on Monday.I cant imagine not being able to just get in the car and go!!!The stiffness is from being stationary.I'm getting to go see my "oldsters" tomorrow for the first time in a month. They text me daily to see about me.I gained 15 pounds but, lost 13 of those pounds with my treadmill and watching my mouth and what it eats emoticonThe doc added lifting soup cans(silly I know)and stretching with bands. My DD graduates formally on June 2nd and hopefully with some support I can put her ribbons on.She is glowing with excitement and tears threaten me daily.I was close to thinking she would give up and here she is ready to take the walk!!!!She gets the credit but,I pushed and shoved most of the way.She has been modeling her cap and gown and she looks so pretty. My DH says fly baby bird fly!! emoticonThey are oil and water but have fierce love for each other. So,im off to get some down time and read my book emoticonSUSAN

Sounds like Shari exercise is working for you and good for you losing what you put on from emotional eating after your accident. I can tell you aren't gong to let this affect you, I see that you have all the tools to deal with this at your disposal and you are using them. Good for you.

I'm forced to slow down...but im Miss Speedy!

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

I feel as though my legs are lame! It's hard to just come to a stop after years of acting like a teenage girl!Im sitting around in chairs drying dishes, folding clothes, organizing my drawers and desks, doing easy stuff I mean.My well meaning friends bring ice ceam, cakes, donuts, candy, chips and chocolate when they visit.Today I got two McDonald's coffee drinks with whip cream on top,a Big Mac and fries and apple pies!Fried pies and candied nuts and popcorn.I hugged each person and thanked them and told my daughter to come and give it to her kids.Seriously,I had 4 plastic grocery bags filled with LOVE!I have a foot cycle that I use each day and am using the treadmill 3 times a day.I re-injured c2-c6 and am gingerly trying some new exercises to strengthen my muscles. The dog has been looking at me with a longing to get a walk with me but, thats out for now.I do alot of chair gardening with DH.I hold the basket in my lap while he cuts zucchini and pulls lettuce and radish.I am seeing my Doc tomorrow for a checkup...You all are so precious to me and i look forward to being on more often emoticonSUSAN

I am a dirty rotten person

Monday, May 14, 2012

Those are the words told to me by my sister-in-law!I would'nt loan her money and she was vicious to me.It seems the only time she wants anything to do with me,it's for money..And i told her so!!Me and my daughters took a trip and "Jane" wanted to come and I said No,we were going as mom and daughters!Jane asked for a thousand dollars to get her a car and I refused! My DH says she is a moocher dont give her anything!Jane screamed that im spineless, mean, degrading, dirty and rotten...she was angry hearing the word No!Her mom has "loaned" her $5000 and she would'nt pay it back.
My mothers day was a super-dee-duper day only to be interupted by Jane's screaming and cursing at me on speaker phone. Her brother my DH took my phone from me and went inside.I could hear him speaking calmly but,I knew he was really angry.Today my dearest 91 yo mother in law called me crying that she was so sorry her daughter is such a selfish...A-hole!I told her she was not responsible for her 68 yo kid!I got a healthy but yucky cake, balloons,MOM mug, homemade cards from little grandkids, breakfast in bed, lunch with DH,dinner made by DH and he cleaned up the mess afterwards(BIG SMILE)My back is healing slowly,it's hard when I can't move around much yet and im boredom eating a little bit.My Dh races home and feeds me dinner then walks me slowly down the street and back...My DD's are over every other day to do housework and cook.If by August it's not alot better, its back surgery for me..... emoticonSUSAN

Sue, it is so very sad that we have givers and takers. You are such a giver and it sounds like she is such a taker. Despite the drama, it sounds like you had a good one. Yay for beautiful DD's.

Happy to hear the healing process is moving in a positive direction. Praying surgery is not necessary.

Can I borrow your husband, just for the cooking a cleaning emoticonHappy Belated Mothers Day.

I agree with everyone here and with you. Your s-i-l is a selfish, mean person who is also greedy and will never be kind and satisfied or pay you back. You have come so far. You look gorgeous and maybe she's jealous too. If she doesn't take care of her money, and expects everyone else to do so, maybe she doesn't take care of herself like you do, as well. Do like Martha says, hang up, close the door, don't give her a chance to call you such mean names, especially on Mother's Day. She is a Bully. Bullies hardly ever change, especially at her age. Take control like you've done with the rest of your life. See how good that turned out? Never talk to her again! Or listen!

Im recovering from my back injury

Tuesday, May 08, 2012

My life on spark people came to a halt when i was knocked off my feet by my dog.She was doing her doggy thing and i was hurt worse than i originally thought when i woke up one day and could'nt get up.I injured an old injury and my doc put me on the couch! No housework,no cooking, cleaning or driving!!Alot of pain killers and being taken care of.I'm alot wobbly on my feet and using a cane but took a ride to Louisiana to see my 91 year old DMIL.She is a riot and had me laughing the whole time! When we came back,my DH bought me a new computer package for Mothers day!My old one was so infected with viruses it wasn't worth repairs.I was given the green light to do some light exercises and walk on low with my treadmill.Im trying my best to check in on ya'll! emoticon and LOVE,SUSAN

I can empathize about getting knocked off your feet and not feel like you are really participating in life. It is rough getting back into the swing of things. I keep having things knock me back down Will be calling the dr today for what I think is sciatica. All I know is that it hurts but I have to keep going to do what needs to be done as there is no one else here who is able to do it.
Keep looking to the Lord for assistance and youwill soon be where you need to be again
