Whitneys music

Monday, February 20, 2012

I was a music/song buff from age 5.I listened but I dont think I actually heard the words they sang until Whitney Houston came along. At one point I was going through a whole lot of depression.Back then women were hysterical not depressed.I was given one drug after another(UPPERS) to pull me out of the funk.We were stationed in Anchorage Alaska and the cold dark snowy days lead me into despair. We couldnt even walk outside without the danger of frostbite..I barely functioned through the dark cloak of medicine.I had two young girls, and I forced myself to get up and care for them.I spent many an hour crying or numb. One day while going to pick up my 6 year old(i was walking in SNOW with no boots on)my neighbor Lisa spotted me and picked me up.She gave me some coffee from a thermos and we sat in her truck waiting.I have noticed you moping around...Yeah but Im okay....Here...I took the package...who is this?I held a cassette...Whitney Houston, she's upbeat and young, you'll love her music!...I dont know, nothing helps these days...have you been to seek help?Yeah, several "SPECIALISTS" that all gave me the same drugs...Susan do you realize you could die from all those drugs? That really got to me...imagine your kids with no mom...her own mom died from an accidental overdose! You are in below zero temps without your boots or heavy coat and walking!I looked down and started crying...you are not alone girl!We left our kids with her older daughter and she escorted me to the hospital...She stayed by my side the entire time, they drew blood and I had 3x the amount of a drug like xanax in my system.I dont even remember taking it!Guess what they prescribed?Yep a sister drug to xanax!Lisa went crazy and yelled at every person there then asked for the Chief of Staff.I was hospitalized for three weeks and I saw Lisa everyday. She had brought me a walkman, batteries and of course Whitney.I listened and heard her words. She helped bring me back from the edge.I was seeing a "counselor" but he wasnt really interested in me and I eventually stopped going to him.Lisa became my therapy....we lunched, played with our kids in the park, rode bikes, flew kites, went to free concerts and watched HBO movies together.Sadly,Lisa was found passed away from a brain anyeurism right after my 28th birthday. Her husband asked me to speak at her funeral and I sang Greatest Love of all.Whitney died the day of Lisa's birthday.Lisa would have been 55 that day.I bought all of Whitneys music through the years and each time I would play it the first time,I would say cheers Lisa!I still play Whitneys greatest hits when I walk outside.Thank you Lisa and Whitney for love and inspiration and my LIFE!!! emoticonSUSAN

Im an accident looking for a place to happen

Friday, February 17, 2012

So sad but true!I am a klutz,I drop things, spill stuff and last night was when it happened. My DH stood some garden tools beside our shed to sharpen for the spring,By the handles.I dropped a glove, bent to pick it up,the dog spied a rabbit, knocked the tools over and kapowee!!!!A Hoe right on my head....3 hours, alot of blood, xrays and 15 stitches later my DH was so shook up he had to have a stiff drink...He was so upset he kept hugging and kissing my head.Wouldnt let me get up off the sofa and when he saw me on my treadmill he went ballistic emoticonI was laughing at him when he forced me into the shower. He was trying his best to tuck my hair under a shower cap, barking threats and orders like a Doctor!I was very lucky but I try not to dwell on what could have happened.I have a huge lump and a headache today but I'm fine.
The DH not so much...LOL... emoticonSUSAN

I'm so glad I have company in Klutzville. I knocked over a full glass yesterday morning when I knew it was right there. A hoe in the head must have hurt badly! I'm glad you have a man who loves you and does his best to be sweet. Be careful on the treadmill girl. You don't want to get dizzy and fall off.

My bully is toast

Thursday, February 16, 2012

So today,I marched up to the bully's wife and asked her could I talk to her.She looked leery and said sure sit down.I sat on a bench beside her and we talked about...Gardening!...LOL...Mr.Bully lurked in the back straining to hear our talk.
He thought I was there to spill the beans on him! Finally he couldnt take it anymore and rushed up and apologized for his terrible behavior...Looking totally left in the cold his wife,Ling said What are you talking about? We are discussing gardening! He outed himself!!I filled her in on what he had been doing to threaten me with his Jacked up-Billy Joe Jim Bob-Bubba truck!
She was looking at him wide eyed.He tried the old"I was just playing"excuse!
Well,I said if he does it again the cops are waiting for my call...With a red face and a true apology he said'It'll never happen again"The man is about 55 years old and theres no excuse for aiming a vehicle at a human being or animal. The police say it is an actual threat to me.Im praying he wont be MADDER and will just leave me alone.I shouldnt have to fear my life when I walk! Thanks for all ya'll's advice on the matter emoticonSusan

Susan, be careful. You are very open, honest and upfront but others are sneaky and dangerous. Don't wave a red flag at a bull or a bully.

Figuring you were telling him wife about his terrible behavior got to him.. Glad you handled it so nicely and he figured he owed you an apology. Yes acting like he was trying to run you down certainly is a treat, one he hopefully won;t attempt again. He now knows how you fell about it and that the police will be notified, he should consider how lucky he has been warned---and bet his wife had a few choice words for him too.

I run errands for senior citizens

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Like my life isnt full enough,I cant stand to see some old folk out shopping and hating it!Some are in pain, agoraphobic, unmobile or detest shopping. Two years ago,My 90 year old neighbor wanted some pizza and asked me to pick up one from Papa John's on my way back from the library. After that when I grocery shopped she gave me a list,cash/gas money and I would shop for her.She told her friends and before I knew it BAM!They dont have long lists and its good that I can help them out.Sara,an elegant little black lady wears dresses, pearls and heels everyday, asks me in for tea and company.Today we sat and talked about Whitney Houston. How beautiful a person she was and Sara had a daughter almost identical to her(she died in1992)I look around her home and see antique furniture, picture frames and quilts she sewed herself. When I leave, she kisses my forehead and tells me she loves me for all I do... emoticonas Im heading off to fill a perscription for Hattie Mae and buy her a rose and candy for Valentines day(I missed doing it yesterday)

2012 Valentines Day!

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

I hope all you beautiful people had a great day and many more to come!!I am blessed with great people in my life! Can you believe I thought my bad luck days were behind me?I broke two vases today and got stranded with a car full of food and flowers. My battery was dead!I had to call my husband from work,to come and give me a jump because the auto club was inundated by calls. One and a half hours later my dh came to my rescue. He was throwing questions around like I had KILLED the battery myself.Trust me im a Do it yourselfer and always try every alternative before I call him!People are leery of others asking for jumps with good reason too.We had an old man get killed by a couple just stealing his car but pretending to need a jump.We ended up spending 2 hours in Sears having them install a battery and a serpentine belt?My dh chooses to keep some items a secret(like i might learn something and not need him)I did manage to make it home, make him a nice steak and shrimp dinner and clean the kitchen just in time for him to fall sound asleep...LOL,I still see my glass as half FULL.... emoticonSUSAN

......and that's why I'm glad I gave up my car. I use Zipcar now, where you rent a brand new car by the hour-gas&insurance included in very reasonable hourly rates. Best thing since peanut butter!!
There's a Zipcar garage right across the street......and I use it when I need it and never worry about parking (I live in the city), maintenance etc. An idea who'se time has come.

Shrimp and steak......mmmmm! (Since I don't eat meat...I'd find a good substitute.).
Susan, dear, your life is anything but boring. Hang in there and keep up your wonderful attitude.
