My mouth gets me in trouble, but sometimes....

Thursday, January 05, 2012

We all are in this world together! For the life of me,I cant stand someone to stand back, observe others and decide they should be where the sun rises and sits! That they are far better than anyone else!
I was at the hospital for what seemed like the millionth time.
They insist on weighing everyone that checks in.
Two very overweight teens were sitting beside me eating donuts.
They were drinking huge sodas also.
A twig of a woman waltzed up right there in front of everyone,
"You fat girls would eat anything, would'nt you?I wish I could eat
a bag of donuts!
They turned red with shame and embarassment.
I could'nt take it
"Wait a minute little girl! She turned looked at me and pointed to herself..ME?
Yes mam..YOU!
Do I know you?
No,but you are about to!Do you know these girls here?
Uh no ,she answered with a little eye rolling.
Yet you walked up here and spoke very rudely!
Why?
She sat down in a seat.
It disgusts me seeing fat people just gorging on food!
Why?
They look like pigs.
What are you?80 lbs?
Does anyone ever say you look like a stick figure?
All the time!
Does it bother you?
No,yes,I dont know!
What gives you the right to go hurt another person?
Because they are fat they have no feelings?
Did you see the size of the nurses?
Are you going to be rude to them?
Before I knew it,
about 8 people were discussing weight.
I held the girls hand, looked kindly into her eyes and said,
WORDS HURT!
I got up to leave.
She got up and hugged me.
So did the teens.
Life is too short to carry burdens around.
Take those demons of anger, hate, judgement, fear, resentment and decide if you want them in your life......

I love that you compassionately stood up against this rudeness. It's one more victory in the right direction, and, I feel, they all add up...

To comment on what others eat is the height of ignorance. We've got enough judgmental harshness out there, and it is NEVER healing... Thank you! - Another Susan

You're a very kindhearted and decent person !!

One thing I've noticed is how rude and insensitive people have become as a generality. whatever happened to having manners ? everyone seems soooo "entitled" these days, just like that woman. She felt entitled to tell those two teens how fat they were and yet, she didn't like it when you reminded her how bad she must feel when people call her skinny or anorexic.

as you correctly noted,"people don't seem to think about the ramifications of their words until after the damage is done". I blame a twitter mentality. people can type faster than they can think. that's what that girl did. She effectively tweeted her thoughts and you called her on them.

good for you !

So many times we walk away from a situation we could change if we had the nerve to 'butt in' to speak up.

You didn't walk away. Awsome. You changed lives that day.

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Seriously,am I out of line?

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

I went to Wal Mart today to replenish my fresh fruits and veggies. As soon as I arrived, got a cart and headed towards the clearance racks(I buy my grandkids extra clothes to help)I spied a young boy of maybe 2 years crying and clutching a blanket wandering through the womens clothing.Keeping my distance,I leaned down to his level.Hi,my name is Susan, are you okay?Sniffling he answered yeah.Wheres Mommy?I ant know he replied.Well, lets get someone to find her, okay? He just threw himself into my arms crying out his heart. The manager tried taking him and he clung onto me like a baby monkey...LOL.. After 30 minutes of paging all parents, she arrived quite angry! She snatched little CHARLIE up very roughly and shook him.Thats when I noticed bruises all down his arms and legs and back!..SNIFF..Charlie reached out for me!She turned on me and called me all kinds of mean names...Try minding your own GD business B*TCH!Charlies face was red and he began screaming. The police arrived with CPS and took the baby and arrested mama because she was drunk and driving to top it off.Several bystanders remarked that I should have minded my beeswax and left the baby alone but,Im not that person that stands back and wishes I had done something. The mama of Charlie was eating in McDonalds while he ran around and got lost...what if a pedophile had found him instead of me?The manager gave me a $50 gift card for being a good samaritan...I accepted and bought some toys for the childrens ward at the hospital and held some babies(my friend is a labor and delivery nurse)It feels good to know i helped out a little bit...... emoticonSUSAN
