A day with my doggie!

Friday, November 18, 2011

It was windy, sunny and warm...the birds chirped and sang,a squirrel ran back and forth gathering acorns. My dog ran ahead sniffing out rabbit hiding spots, coming back now and then to make sure I was there.I reached in my pocket to hand her a doggie treat...she wagged her tail took the treat.Plooey came the treat onto the ground. We were playing the im going to get the treat game.I go to pick it up,she gobbles it down. The highway is getting widened and our path is gone...she pulls on the leash anxiously like...come on mom!I had to turn her around and go back in the direction which we came...I stopped to tie my shoe and she sneaked in a few sugars while i was bent down..We arrived back home...she took off to drink water while I grabbed mine. She stretched out and started snoring...I laid on the lounge chair and breathed in the fresh air and admired my hairy little friend....through thick and thin she has been there for me.Though chosen for my kids...she's my dog and she knows it because she picked me.She loves her kids but her heart belongs to mommy. We are pals and when she goes someday I cant imagine the pain im sure i will feel emoticonSUSAN

Susan, like you, I LOVE dogs. I've had them all of my life and don't feel a home is complete without one. My best dog ever, Slider, an angel in a dog's body, died on Thanksgiving 2 years ago and I still grieve. We have another and it is the first dog to really attach to my husband instead of me. When my Slider died, I was reading a Dean Koontz book. In it was the greatest quote about losing a dog, I have ever read.
“Dogs' lives are short, too short, but you know that going in.
You know that the pain is coming, you're going to lose a dog,
and there's going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the
moment with him, never fail to share his joy or delight in his
innocence because you can't support the illusion that a dog
can be your lifelong companion. There's such beauty in the
hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always
aware that it comes with an unbearable price.”
~ Dean Koontz
The man has obviously loved and lost a best friend.

Our fur babies are so part of the family. They get excited to see us if we have gone for a few hours. Our dog has been in Ks. with our DD since the first week of Oct and will be staying with them until we go down for Christmas. She is always thrilled when we arrive, but then so do all of her dogs. We're so fortunate they take her when we travel, and we traveled in Oct. and leave the day after Tanksgiving for another 2 week trip.

Im feeling great!

Thursday, November 17, 2011

I have gained alot of respect for my resilience.I have been determined to stay at this weight loss monster until I conquer it!I am eating, exercising, sleeping right and taking time to read, laugh with family and friends, and enjoy my old dog.Theres nothing wrong with taking it slow which i have to do.I had become obsessed with eating, sleeping, breathing and talking about losing weight.I dont like what I have become.I was depriving myself of nutrition I needed and just beasically screwing up.I started a different way of thinking.Im doing better now.I got down to 137 and now im back up to 153.Yes,thats 16 pounds i have regained when I slowed down and started eating right.I let my obsession with food remanifest into an obsession with exercise and limiting the calories I was supposed to be getting. It was something I could control. How did that work for me?NOT!!I am not not ashamed of myself because I LOVE me and I made a stupid mistake.I am feeling great and doing an awesome job now and hope to keep on with my new way of thinking.....What do you think?I can take it if you want to bitch me out!.... emoticonSUSAN

Hi Susan, since I don't know your height or BMI, I can't comment intelligently. However, if you were experiencing deprivation, diet rage, irritability and were thinking of nothing other than what you ate and how much you exercised, then that is no way to live. If you feel healthy, energetic and are happy, you are doing better than 90% of the world!

Okay, Susan, you want honest, right? If you've decided that 153 is where you want to be, you can eat right and exercise and maintain it. On the other hand, you should also be able to maintain 137 without depriving yourself of nutrition.

You have done such a great job of losing a LOT of unhealthy fat and you look so great. If the 16 pounds you've gained back is better for you, then that's where you should be. As long as that's the real reason you've gained 16 pounds, all is good.

I totally agree with Liz! You are taking a more moderate, healthy path with the nutrition side and your body will thank you for it! Good food in the right portions will get you where you'd like to go! And you were bitten by the exercise bug, so that's a terrific thing!!

I'M JUST A BALL OF SUNSHINE?

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

I went today to offer my help for a food drive.People everywhere are needing food badly.I met Josie and Julie. They are 80 year old twins from Dallas.I just have this spiritual connection with Old people in their late 60's and older.I have always had it,since I was a kid.Mama used to tease me that I was an old kid...LOL!Well,we were paired up sorting the food being collected in phase one.Josie kept looking at me and finally i said"Am I doing something wrong? No,she answered I have a feeling, like we have met before.I named some of the places I've volunteered....nope she said..it just feels like I've always known you..weird I thought I feel the same!We did alot of lifting, bending, stacking, sorting and laughing.I told Julie that when I was young I always awoke smiling and happy,my mama called me a Ball of Sunshine! At the time Josie was over taking other volunteers on a tour.Subway offered us sandwiches and we sat for a while eating.I jumped when someone tapped me on the head..it was Raj an east indian fella i had known a long time.He laughed and I hugged him...I intro'd him to the others and gave him a job.Josie was handing him a sandwich when she asked Raj...So how do know our little Ball of Sunshine?Julie looked at me and we both laughed....mysterious!When I explained she just sat there looking shocked...Maybe somehow we all have soulmates we are destined to meet...who knows? emoticonSUSAN

See, there are more advantages to losing weight than you ever thought. Just think, you've graduated from a "ball of sunshine" to a "LITTLE ball of sunshine"!

110 years old and happy until the end

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Mary Margaret Louise Mulhoney was born in May 16,1901.She outlived 6 children, three husbands and 15 boyfriends...LOL.She always had a hug and a smile for anyone. She loved chocolate! She kept her hair, makeup and nails done.Always looked sharply dressed and wore her jewels daily. She was never sick. She wore her heels to bed the night she died. She knew the day she would go to heaven and wanted to look her best! But,Before her Lord came to take her she hugged and kissed all her friends at the center. We stayed beside her holding her hand when she took her last breath...A smile came across her face and I swear she glowed when she left this earth. She was my mentor and got me through alot.I loved her so much and went to her first each day.She would hug me,kiss my hand and smile.I will miss her sorely, because she has enriched my life to the max.She will leave behind lots of friends that were madly in LOVE with her.Her favorite saying was "Love and Live life to its fullest everyday...we never are promised a tomorrow...RIP Maggie emoticonSUSAN
