OH MY!THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING!!!

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

It's an obstacle course at Wal Mart..the shoppers are angry, hurried and frustrated trying to get last minute foods.I wont let myself get that way anymore.Last year my sweet hubby had me searching high and low for xmas tree pans.I found them and we didnt even use them..We think we need so many things...when there are people in shelters...homeless,jobless,foodless!I watch the craziness that goes on.The key to it all is Being Together...WE have created our own traditions throughout the 37 years.I would be okay with pizza, wings, salad and pie.Watch a few movies, play outside, take a walk.My hubby is a stickler for traditions and wont budge.Take it easy on yourself and remember its the friends and family thats MOST important....Have a Happy Thanksgiving my sparkies emoticon emoticonSUSAN

Have a great Thanksgiving and don't let the turkeys get you down. I wouldn't shop on Black Friday for anything.

Yeah. I got out of work early today, and even Aldi was crowded enough to be a little annoying. Fortunately, I was able to get all but one item at Aldi. I still have to go to Walmart, but I only have to get one thing and I know where it is. Should be reasonably quick, other than the inevitable wait at checkout.

I've been so sick recently that everyone in my family feels sorry for me. They're bringing everything to my house for Thanksgiving to keep me from having to do anything. I'll wait until dinner's on the table to let anyone know I'm finally feeling better.

Even though we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in NZ I am beginning to feel the stress in the lead up to Christmas. We have friends coming tomorrow for a traditional time that we spend together and I am dreading the rushing around it involves. But when they are here, it will be a good time together.
Enjoy being together, everyone.

I can so agree. Making a simple meal from what is in the house. Ground turkey, stove top stuffing, baby spinach and yams. I am thinking of making them into a shepherds pie.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Sue !!! On the one hand I can understand wanted to keep things simple, but I see the hubs point too. It's Thanksgiving. It's the one or two days of the year when people should enjoy their traditions.

Personally, I never understood why people get sooo upset at this time of year when they go shopping. Of course, there are going to be lines at the market. Of course, there are going to be crowds. People need to relax. Stamping their feet isn't going to make the line move any faster.

I try to stay upbeat whenever I'm stuck in line. I try to lighten things up because people are just too up tight.

Anyway... have a great holiday !!

It happens. I was 5 minutes late waking my son up for school one morning, and about that time he woke up on his own. I was busy doing something in the kitchen and he came in there and said "Why didn't you wake me up?" with this huffy attitude. I just gave him this look and told him he better just go ahead get dressed. The nerve. emoticon

The parent-child relationship is a co-dependent one. Actually all relationships are that way. LOL

She's totally dependent on you and resents being so it sounds like.

My beautiful godson

Monday, November 21, 2011

My workaholic Godson"G" came home in the middle of the day.He told Carmen his mama my head really hurts and collapsed to the floor.Walking up to the ICU my heart was pounding loudly!I swear people were turning like they could hear it...thump thump thump...I reached for the door and let go like it had burned me.I backed up a few feet and composed myself...showing my fears and worry wouldnt help anyone at all.I stood there and held fast to the rail that flanked either side of the hall and sipped my coffee.Taking a deep breath I walked into the room...his mama was napping but woke as soon as she heard the door.We hugged...I tiptoed my way to his side and took his hand...there were bandages covering his eyes..he turned his head and said Hello Beautiful! It's me honey,it's Susan I spoke quietly.I know who it is he answered.Who else would I call Beautiful? He had brain surgery Friday and it was close to his optic nerve.I brought you some of those velvety socks you like and some chocolates...he grinned in my direction and reached out for a hug..His mom was crying out of relief...They take the bandages off soon to see will I need a seeing eye dog he joked...He is the most beautiful of people and so optimistic...when he was three we met at the playground when he fell from the slide playing batman with my daughter.I picked him up and he clung to me like velcro...I met his mama and we became fast friends..that was 18 years ago and he's still an awesome kid/man...The tumor was this big he showed me with his hands...I popped a chocolate in his mouth...mmmm chocolate he said like Homer Simpson...The nurse came in and shooed us out and we went to the waiting room...I reached to hug her again and she just cried and cried into my shoulder. It was awful she sobbed.I took her hand and we talked a while...the bandages came off and "G" can see shapes and colors for now but will most likely gain all his eyesight back...LIFE is so precious and we are never promised Tomorrow...Tell someone you LOVE them today!! emoticonSUSAN

A day with my doggie!

Friday, November 18, 2011

It was windy, sunny and warm...the birds chirped and sang,a squirrel ran back and forth gathering acorns. My dog ran ahead sniffing out rabbit hiding spots, coming back now and then to make sure I was there.I reached in my pocket to hand her a doggie treat...she wagged her tail took the treat.Plooey came the treat onto the ground. We were playing the im going to get the treat game.I go to pick it up,she gobbles it down. The highway is getting widened and our path is gone...she pulls on the leash anxiously like...come on mom!I had to turn her around and go back in the direction which we came...I stopped to tie my shoe and she sneaked in a few sugars while i was bent down..We arrived back home...she took off to drink water while I grabbed mine. She stretched out and started snoring...I laid on the lounge chair and breathed in the fresh air and admired my hairy little friend....through thick and thin she has been there for me.Though chosen for my kids...she's my dog and she knows it because she picked me.She loves her kids but her heart belongs to mommy. We are pals and when she goes someday I cant imagine the pain im sure i will feel emoticonSUSAN

Susan, like you, I LOVE dogs. I've had them all of my life and don't feel a home is complete without one. My best dog ever, Slider, an angel in a dog's body, died on Thanksgiving 2 years ago and I still grieve. We have another and it is the first dog to really attach to my husband instead of me. When my Slider died, I was reading a Dean Koontz book. In it was the greatest quote about losing a dog, I have ever read.
“Dogs' lives are short, too short, but you know that going in.
You know that the pain is coming, you're going to lose a dog,
and there's going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the
moment with him, never fail to share his joy or delight in his
innocence because you can't support the illusion that a dog
can be your lifelong companion. There's such beauty in the
hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always
aware that it comes with an unbearable price.”
~ Dean Koontz
The man has obviously loved and lost a best friend.

Our fur babies are so part of the family. They get excited to see us if we have gone for a few hours. Our dog has been in Ks. with our DD since the first week of Oct and will be staying with them until we go down for Christmas. She is always thrilled when we arrive, but then so do all of her dogs. We're so fortunate they take her when we travel, and we traveled in Oct. and leave the day after Tanksgiving for another 2 week trip.
