Hope your family meeting goes well. My dh and I only have two of each in our kit cabinets so they get washed everytime we use them. It works for us and no need to clutter things up. You want a glass of something and no glass, wash it. (Rule also that there is no drinking out of the containers!!!) There are other dishes/glasses around in case of company, but are off limits for our everyday use.

Relax? I don't hardly think so! Might that be a problem for you, not enough chilling out? If you don't get enough rest, you can be stressed. And stressed means you hang onto your weight... Just a thought...

LUCKY you !! I would love to relax. No kids, no cleaning, no running around.

Weight gain could be your body going into "mode" not to lose due to eating irregularly or not at all.

OR water... diet soda has a ton of sodium - be ware.

No worries about the 10lbs. Luckily you saw it NOW and not later when it could be really out of hand.

Take a deep breath - relax. Let today be ALL ABOUT YOU!

when people become drunk drivers!

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Sometimes friends just arent well, friends!I broke down and had lunch today with my girlfriends sam and rocky...they invited some friends of theirs that decided to start drinking cocktails and I voiced my opinion that drinking alcohol is not a good decision...especially if one is driving. They poo-poo'ed me and said I was no fun and what planet was I from..boredom?I said no but if you drink alcohol and get behind the wheel,im calling the police with your plate numbers.I am not miss goody two shoes but, these women have young kids. What does alcohol do to ones thinking? It fogs it up and makes you too relaxed or crazy as all hell!We ate lunch and had a good time..I obviously made some frenemies because all during lunch they proceeded to talk behind their hands and make rude comments to me.I will sleep just fine tonight!I dont care about anger because it goes away. But driving drunk kills the drinker and innocent bystanders in the drunks way.Rocky said Susan, you were rude to my friends!Later,Sam called me and told me that the girl ended up in a fender bender and got 42 stitches and jail time...No,I didnt call the police on her but I wish I had....Sam,called me to apologize and I accepted. If you are out there having ONE drink let me tell you that my darling cousin/best friend, his wife,2year old and 5 week old died from being hit head on by a drunk driver.Get a ride from a friend, call a cab,and even the police will take you home if you have been drinking....that girl was lucky to get away with her life and scars for life and thats lucky for her ! my cousin and his family werent so lucky... emoticonSUSAN

Why is it called "Common Sense" and it's not so common?
Alcohol is not a cognitive skill accelerator, just one of the many skills needed when operating a couple tons of speeding metal.

I'm proud of you, Sue.
If only there was a 'Sue' to stop my Dad, my Uncle, lives would've been saved and marriages too.
I truly believe there is a sin of silence.

Good for You! You did the right thing by speaking up. There should be more people that think and as you do. Hopefully she learned a lesson from the accident, like she's lucky to be alive and had better never do that again.

This is one of the main reasons for my divorce. My ex picked our girls up from day care (they were 18 months and 5 years old at the time) drunk and was no where to be found for hours. When he finally made it home. I took the girls and the keys and kick his sorry ... to the curb. There is no reason on this earth for an adult to be this stupid. It is ridiculous. Sara is 23 and Jamie is 20. I'm very blessed that they weren't injured but I am so sorry for your loss and I also have many friends who were not as fortunate. As a former police officer, I had to notify the parents of a 17 y/o girl that their beautiful daughter was dead because she and her friends were drinking and driving. It was one of the most awful crashes I've ever seen... I just don't get. You want to party--knock yourself out but don't put other people at risk.

It makes me mad, but too often driving drunk DOESN'T do more than shake up the drunk, while it leaves innocent bystanders badly injured or dead.

A pity it came to having "friends" think someone's feelings were more important than health and life, but sometimes we just have to stand our ground and say when something is not right. Good for you. I can only hope the one girl's consequences shake up those friends and friends of friends enough to get the message through (not that I'd ever wish any accident on anyone).

Everyone has said it all. I agree tho -- since you're always there for them, they are always using you. That is what they're used to so they keep on doing it. Just don't be there, nicely of course, but stand your ground. They'll get the hint!

Well I believe sometimes our family members really don't think. They probably aren't doing anything on purpose, their just enjoying their selves so much that they don't realize the cook could use some help in the kitchen. However, if this is the usual habit, I would definitely assign tasks to others and get them all to help out.

    Oh oh oh.
And only a day before, you were sick and going to take it easy.
emoticon
Is this the kinda stuff you used to eat about?
Maybe it's time for a new plan.
emoticon
If it was my plan, it would have some boundaries in it.
Family dinners might become pot lucks. If I was feeling really hardassed, guests might even be told to take their dishes home to wash. At any rate, after the meal, I wouldn't be going back into the kitchen til everyone was gone. Someone else would make the coffee.
Grandkids would find their own way to school, and if they couldn't they would call their parents or aunties & uncles.
When there was more respect around, I might feel like doing the big family dinner again. And having experienced the respect, I might not mind being taken for granted. So long as it was once in a while and not all the time.
But I know your plan would be different, and it will work better for you.

We had copperheads in our neighborhood. They would sun themselves on our driveway. Neighbors tell me they haven't seen one in years. Problem is, I can't tell the difference between a regular old snake and a copperhead. People have showed me pics, but when I see one, I have to ask someone to tell me what it is. I think they are all copperheads -- so I stay clear and really worry about my dogs. Interestingly, mine stay away from snakes. When they see one, they bark and once the snake moves on or we move him on, they stay away from the area for awhile. Didn't know they would do that...
