My family thinks im too soft hearted!!

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

I dont care what they think...I Am soft hearted!!My grandson is 10 years old and he can cry at any given moment over the least little thing!!But,I gather him to my chest and love on him!See,we as children were not allowed to cry!!So,when he cries,Im the first to shield him from the bullies that think its not manly to cry.Yesterday,I surprised him at his performance at school and he was screaming....GRAMEEEEE!! and he started getting teary eyed that I came! His mama thinks its my fault that he's emotional and that men should be men.Well,he's not a man he's a little boy that needs some tenderness and understanding! And as long as I can give him love,I WILL!He and I go places alone sometimes so he can get away and have some time to talk and not feel embarrassed. With me he feels free! My husband was one of those 8 year old men and he doesent do too much hugging and kissing his kids unless they come to him. Then he will hug freely.Well, after Gilberts school let him go I treated him to Dairy Queen and he came up and said "gram I Love You"So,we sat and ate ice cream and laughed at the silly people walking by...What do ya'll think about boys being made to be manly??? emoticonsp

I think he will grow up with wonderful memories of times spent with a grandmother who loves him and encouraged him to be the true sensitive guy he is. What a gift you are giving him!!

I think you are grooming him to be a FABULOUS Husband and Daddy.
Stick to your plan and let him continue to find a 'Safe Place' with you to share his Feelings.
Your future Grandaughter-In-Law will LOVE you for it.

How will William know how to treat his baby if he never has a doll?

I'll bet that means something to you. Keep up the good work, grandma, and he will remember the lessons and teach them forward. Gone are the days when fathers didn't hug their children, or never said "I love you" to them. I say:

YIPPEE!

Sensitivity will come in handy later in life. He will be tough but he will also be in touch with his feelings. A well rounded man. emoticon

Congrats on the new clothing size and losing weight. I know exactly what song your grandson was referring to, too funny!

Man, I wish my feet would get smaller. I've lost 45 pounds and still wear the same size shoes. Uggh.

I also donated my too big clothing to Good Will. It felt great to get rid of those larger clothes! emoticon

Too cool. My potatoes are still tiny. Not sure if they'll get full sized this year. The heat is really knocking down the plants.

My daughter the Great!

Sunday, May 29, 2011

She does her hair and primps in the mirror,
playing with it from every angle.
She smiles,and combs,and fluffs,
and admires it just likes shes and angel.
I watch her put on her makeup,
and spritz on some stinky spray.
She puts on all her jewelry,
for just alot of glam.
She parades around the house a while,
out the door she goes and the door goes SLAM!!
Someday I will hear the Quiet,
i wont smell her stinky spray.
Because my Daughter the Great,
will have already gone away.
(She is my friend and I am going to spend this last year enjoying every minute!!) emoticonSpark friends!!

honoring my body

Saturday, May 28, 2011

I realized back at the beginning of spark people, that There are so many people in this world with debilitating diseases. My weight was not as big of an issue anymore!!Sometimes we get so wrapped up in ourselves that we forget that we truly are blessed.Weight can come off.I was volunteering in a nursing home and havent been there in a while. It felt awesome when I left just to bring some other person happiness.Mrs jones you look great,Mr.Elton is that a new suit? Can I send an email for you Telly,How about a foot rub Camille? They were so lonely for attention that some that were deemed depressed, perked up and started to dress spiffier, talk to others and play games. We were able to take a few to eat at McDonalds/Wendys/Dairy Queen for treats or a beauty parlor.Wal Mart was like a vacation to them and to get to go and buy some pretty underwear at Victorias secret...woweee!!I'm getting ready to dedicate 1 day a week to them. My older friends wont be there forever! In honor of my healthy working body!! emoticon sparkers!!
