My family is changing!

Monday, May 23, 2011

So a few friends had us over for a cookout,I almost gasped when I saw all they had made to eat!!NO salad,NO water,NO anything healthy! It was swimming in grease and they made punch so sweet I almost gagged.About 20 exquisite desserts adorned a table and not even my little Queen of sweets could finish a small portion! My husband came over and told me he would be right back, not to eat anything!Puzzled I sat and chatted with the girls a while. When he returned he whispered to me that the food was not good for me and he brought me some water and a grilled chicken salad emoticon coming from him that was huge!!We left about two hours later and my two were starving????Oh mom that food was salty, too sweet and cooked with chunks of bacon fat...EWWW!My hubby agreed....Of course this morning I recieved emails from the girls at the party telling me I was wrong for not gorging on all that food....I replied,I have to take care of me and you take care of you!Understand that I was NOT rude in any way and whatever situation Im in, I can choose what goes in my mouth... emoticonsparkers

My husband and daughter don't eat cheese at all. My daughter just hates the stuff and my husband has a dairy sensitivity. I have learned to pack a lunch box for social gatherings. Kid's birthday parties might be pizza for example and she won't touch the stuff.

Good for your hubby for helping you out!

I think you and your family handled the situation with a lot of Class! And what a great guy your husband is for being so supportive! Congratulations for being such a positive influence on your family. Pat

It always amazes me how insensitive and rude some people can be.
My wife is allergic to peas, I know it sounds weird, it was confirmed by her Doctor. She gets physically ill if she eats them. We went to a friends house for dinner and they served a main course that had peas in it. My wife didn't want to make a scene so she just ate very little and picked around the peas. They made comment about it and my wife explained that she was allergic, they just scowled at her. After not hearing from them for a while I checked up on my friend to find out they were mad at us because my wife was so rude to not eat the peas!

As you can guess we don't see them anymore.

Wow, Susy!! This one really hit me. Obviously you were sensitive to the effort your friends had put into preparing a huge spread. Handling it discreetly, as you all seem to have done, was the right thing to do. I can't imagine receiving emails telling me that I was wrong about what I ATE!!! Unbelievable!!!

How awesome your family gets that you want to be healthy. And I don't believe for one minute it is rude to not eat things that you find completely unhealthy. emoticon

Thumbs up to you and your family! Your right, you can't change everyone else but you can help yourself and your family. Sounds like your hubby was such a doll to notice and take action. Wouldn't it be nice to have an all healthy food party and invite the same people so they could see something different!
Good for You and Your Family!!

Good for you! Your husband came to your rescue. That was very thoughtful.

Our friends can become a huge stumbling block and I don't think they always have good intentions.

I have a friend that has lost a significant amount of weight and she tells me that she is amazed at the number of haters in her life. Jealousy comes in many forms and pops up when we least expect it.

It sounds to me that you and your family had a huge success yesterday. cheers to you!

Ha, ha. Isn't it funny how that works out? Well they're very lucky to have you around, but you make sure you take of yourself too. Hugs.

The best you can do is learn to look past it now and again, and thoroughly enjoy the time you have together. If you're lucky enough to ever train them to help, let me know how you did it!

an angel poem

Saturday, May 21, 2011

I keep this poem close by so it gives me strength!!

I believe in Angels
that they're always
hovering near,
Whispering encouragement
whenever clouds appear,
Protecting us from danger
and showing us the way,
Performing little miracles
within our lives each day...

May you all have your angels!!

LOL.....I took a pair of scissors to my yellow pages ('cause who uses them any more anyway?) and clipped out every single display ad for a handyman, painter, carpenter, plumber, etc. When I have a job I want done, I grab one of the ads and stick it up on the refrigerator with a magnet. He ALWAYS asks..."What's this for?", and then I tell him how I'm going to make an appointment and spend money, to have a particular task done. He takes down the ad, and shows me just how good a handyman, painter, carpenter, plumber, etc. he can be.....and saves money too! I figure since we don't pay a professional chef, shopper, or cleaning person, we're even!

I TOTALLY understand! We have so many unopened boxes of things requiring assembly that I could probably sell them now as "vintage" items.

I recall a story of some woman who needed a crib fixed for the forthcoming new baby. Her husband was always helping neighbors, but never got to the things she wanted done. So she took the crib to a neighbor who called the husband to ask for help fixing a crib. The crib got fixed!

The hubs sounds perfectly normal to me ! LOL !!!

I have a good "method" to get him to do something you want. Let's say you want to paint the cabinets. You go out and buy the pain and let it sit for a while while the hubs decides when he wants to start painting. Well, once some time has passed, YOU start painting !!

I assure you, the minute he sees you painting, he'll say,"stop that, you're doing it wrong. let me do it !" works all the time !!!

hersheys kisses addict

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Shameful but,TRUE!I cannot buy anymore because,The monster comes out in me and I cant control her! It's about my only weakness but still its like I go in a trance and after 2-3 kisses Im like Animal from the muppet show!!!LOL,but on the serious side it's like the old me is trying to fight with the new me and I know a part of moving forward is to leave the bad habits behind!I am going to learn on my way what sets me off.I'm doing fabulously and i'm so,so proud of myself.I's just scary not to be in control...Yall might think this gal is a few cards short of a full deck and I probably am.But,my best solution for now is to leave the kisses in the store, until i'm stronger in my choices emoticon

Excellent idea to leave the temptations at the store, at least then if you really do have to have some, you could make yourself walk to that store and burn off those calories before you eat them!!!!

Well done, great choice.

I don't think you're any cards short of a full deck. I think you'd be nuts if you DIDN'T love, love, love Hershey's kisses. You're lucky if it's the ONLY thing that brings out the Animal in you. I can't worry about demons or lack of self-control, just how to keep my calories right. For now that means leave them at the store. Good choice!

    Hersey's Kiss addict ? ME TOO !

And how is this is a bad thing ? LOL !!! People think I'm a raving lunatic now ? Take away my portion of chocolate for the day and see what happens !! Although, I did give up chocolate for Lent and didn't die. So, yes, it is possible to live life without chocolate. But who wants to live life without chocolate ??? Moderation, not deprivation.

Good for you for recognizing what your triggers are and simply staying away from them. This is all part of the process and I'm proud of you too for all of your success so far :)
