I have a friend that I adore but is a windbag! She can talk all day long and I dont have to say a word. She calls me about 5am every morning and I could go back to sleep while shes talking and she dont know!!She once went to the Doctors appointment with me and irritated the people around us,to the point a lady got up and asked her to be quiet! She turned to me and said the nerve of her,how dare she?I went to the bathroom to guffaw(bellylaugh)and she walked in and said Why are you laughing in the potty?I started laughing again!I said that lady's right you would talk to a dead body!We both were laughing so hard by then that when the nurse called me,she pointed to my friend and said wait there!pointing to a chair.Later she said im going to try and stop chatting like a windbag all the time.Happy Sunday SP!!

Planting flowers and growing myself

Thursday, March 31, 2011

I'm so busy lately that,I dont have time to focus on the past!Reaching for healthy food is as natural as if i've been doing it my whole life!I was out planting some more flowers my husband brought home and realized my whole attitude has changed,i'm different, inside and out.My husband told me yesterday its like i'm glowing! :) My neighbor was looking intently at me then asked point blank "Did you have a gastric bypass or something?"OK,she sees me everyday and knows I'm always around, how did I manage that?Do they have gastric bypass drive-thru's?I think people notice us losing weight and wish it was them.I was wearing 14's and now wear 12's and even though its just 11 lbs i'm tightening up the gut and butt!I offered to have her start walking with me but she says OH my backs acting up and I shouldnt.I make sure that I have a smile on my face all the time because happiness begets happiness!HUGS sp

Bet ya remember being where she is now, dontcha?

Bet you're glad you're not still there, dontcha?

Its rare that folks notice weight loss in others when they're around them a lot, so savor these compliments. It may not be jealousy, but lazy intrigue. Don't stop inviting her to walk, she may be inspired some day and change her life! I always assumed that I could not walk on a track going nowhere but in circles with my heel spurs and plantar fasciitis, and being a smoker. Nowadays, five miles is no big deal, and at a pretty good clip too!

It takes alot to make me mad

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

I have a pet peeve about seeing the elderly being ignored! We all are going to be there and I'd like to see more people offer help. When you see an elderly person struggling with something in the store or restaraunt or anywhere, offer to help!I was raised to respect my elders and still do.I was at DMV when an elderly lady pushing a walker came in.Not one person besides me offered thier seat to her.At Wal Mart a lady struggling to put groceries in her car, nobody stopped to help so I did and she hugged my neck!At the Hospital I watched an old man in a wheel chair lose his umbrella in a pouring down rain storm and people blindly walked by .....Whats wrong with people?I was soaking wet but he got that umbrella back and was safely tucked into his car!!My husband says i'm overly sensitive but he will do the same thing.HUGS!sp

You are correct in your observation, and it goes much further than the elderly. Our culture has taught two generations of children about "Stranger Danger", so people don't even make eye contact any more, and if they do, it is in an aggressive or defensive way. Our people, for the most part, have become selfish to the point of no return. So self indulgent and impatient that people will drive off after running a stranger over in a car. Courtesy is uncommon these days, though there are still a few of us holdouts that demand that we practice it and teach it to our children. Children, and people, learn what they live. I have used the term "pay it forward" thousands of times when helping people (not just the elderly) and I'm prayerful that it makes a dent in this wayward trend. Start flashing a smile to everyone you see, and watch for the response. The half that doesn't think you're crazy or on drugs will likely look away or scowl. I assisted a young man (20 something just shy of 6 ft tall) in a parking lot who obviously became over zealous Christmas shopping, and could not maneuver his cart in the snow, let along fit his big box purchase in his trunk. I helped to steer him in, then ran to my car for the rope I kept in my car. He was thankful to the point of tears, and I told him to pay it forward. We need to BE the angels God wants on earth. From this, others may follow our example.

Yes! What ever happened to manners? I don't even think anyone even knows about giving up their seat to an elderly person. Or even holding a door open for them. I have noticed so many people nowdays becoming ruder and non-caring to other human beings. What's up with that?
My father always held doors open for people, rushed over to pick things up for someone when dropped and went out of his way to always help anyone in need. I was raised the same way. To always say please and thank you. To ask permission before acting on something that might affect someone else. To generally be a good person and live by the old "golden rule" of do unto others.

Good for you for going out of your way to help people. Maybe the trend will catch on again.

I agree! I think people are just so caught up in their little world and are just so in a hurry to get to (where?). The bible tells us to respect the elderly.

I agree with you. I'm very sensitive to the elderly. I believe God wants us to take care of our fellow man when we can. And there is a measure of respect that the elderly have earned.
