Oh man I love Dt Dr Pepper and reg coke. I can easily down 4-5 a day!!!! When I was a kid my mom only allowed one can a day. I think I'm making up for that in spades. I heard something the other day that if you stop drinking just one a day you can lose up to ( ) and I cant remember how much. but the latest report about soda having a cancer causing agent although they say "isn't harmful to people" made me think twice. So I am going to work on replacing one coke a day with water. Hopefully before long I will get back to just having one a day.
ok so this really wasnt about Dt. Coke but drinking more caffine then I should is still bad for me.

I do love D-Pepsi. But, not as much as the 4 cans I used to consume every single day. Too put a number on the total every week, two weeks, etc. makes me feel sad about the way I was not supporting my health. I have change it up to a total of two cans per week due to a study by a French physician practicing in California. In short, a study he ran many years ago determined that our bone health/strength can be compromised by as little as one can of soda per day. Think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers to you on your water drinking odyssey. I'm happy we have all wised up. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had a 2-liter+ per day diet soft drink habit before I started SparkPeople. I quit cold turkey in December 2009 and, except for a very occasional mixed drink, I have been diet soft drink free!
It is water for me. I, like you, did not consider myself a water drinker but now I love it and try to drink 10 cups or more per day. I would consider water to be a big part of my success!
Thank you for blogging about this and keep up the great work!

I love diet coke, I was a 5-6 cans a day drinker. I feel that I was addicted. But I have changed my view on it a little and it helps. I felt I took it for granted. Now I only drink diet coke when I am eating food. If out in a restaurant I will not order diet pepsi. I will drink water instead. I drink water all day so when it's time for me to eat I want something special. SO I am down to about 2-3 a day at the most...some days I don't even think about it and I won't have any.

Good for you! I was also a very high user of the diet soda. Each and every time i would eat out, i would automatically order myself a diet coke. Now i find myself ordering water. It really is a nasty habit, and although there are no calories in it, there are plenty of other things in it that make it terrible for you health wise. I have now been diet soda free for almost 2 months :)

Your on the right track, keep it up!

Over a lifetime, your body learns to compensate for the shortage of just plain water by trying not to need as much. Also, you learn over a lifetime to ignore the body's requests for just plain water.
Now, you've gone and opened up the dams, so to speak! Good for you!
Now that your body can count on getting the water it needs to perform basic everyday functions of good health, you're getting the messages more strongly again.
A lot of times we try and rationalize the junk we drink, because all drinks contain water. Now you're finding out that nothing quenches thirst like plain ol' water does, and you'll also start to notice that if you drink something else instead of water when you're feeling thirsty, the thirst feeling will not go away and even will sometimes feel worse!
Take care of your Self and it will take care of you, and the rest of us will cheer you on and cheer with you.

YIPIEE !!!! I am so very proud of you. It's so hard to get through a platu. I am stuck in one right now. Have you tried doing a different workout. Sometimes that helps to change workouts and rotate them.

I think when you move them sometimes something shakes up inside them. The first weight is probably closer. Or if it's an electronic one the battery might be going.
