okay, I'll admit it... I totally want to see results when I've been working for 2 weeks. Instead I step on the scale for my weekly weigh in and what do I see... I GAINED 5 lbs? Please tell me how that is possible and most importantly how to gain a proper perspective after that?! But somehow I did and let all the most important things roll through my mind... "it's a long process, you are getting healthier, it's not an overnight deal, you didn't gain it in a day (although sometimes I think I did) and you won't lose it in a day" All those things that set your mind back to reality.

Training for the 5k is not going near as well as I would like. I get bored way too easily. Now I remember why I didn't walk more in the past. It's high time I work to find something to that will keep me interested while walking. That will be my project this week. In the meantime I will continue to do various exercises to keep my energy level up.

    I don't know where you live but humidity is wreaking havoc with almost everyone I knows weight here in Iowa. Humidity can cause major weight gain in a short amount of time but it drops off easily again when the humidity goes down.

    Playing with the scale can be unrewarding to say the least. But if you know that you have watched what you ate and exercised more than you are used to, rest assured you are doing well!

Sometimes we can bloat; temporary water gain. Sometimes we gain muscle so we gain instead of lose. Sometimes weighing at the wrong time of day doesn't help either.

Keep up the good work and continue with that prized attitude! You can do this!

Just keep moving...

I've been so inspired by the quote I've seen on people's pages from Martin Luther King (I believe). The quote goes something like - if you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl - whatever you do keep moving. That's totally the way I feel. I'm so desperate to complete a 5k. I don't want to finish first, I just want to finish. But right now I can't walk a 100 feet without my shins hurting so bad. I don't want to go fishing for excuses, but it's a real live pain. Today I'm going shopping for new shoes. I don't have the extra money to buy them, but I'm willing to work some overtime to get them. Pain and all... I'm just thrilled to be moving.
