Weigh in day

Monday, June 16, 2008

Well-- the weight is coming off more slowly but it is still coming off. I am down another 1 pound bringing my total loss to 47 pounds thus far. I am feeling really good about it. I have actually gone past some of the "thin" clothes in my closet. That is a great feeling!! But even more exciting is my blood pressure--111/66 this morning. Ah--Life is Good!!!!!!

I saw your blog and can really identify with you. I've made it to 58 lbs. off as of today and, boy, do I feel different than I did a few months ago! I feel strong and capable and just looking forward to life every day. I think it's more than just the weight loss - although that is a BIG part of it - but it's a feeling of control or order I feel now that I have made eating a pleasurable activity instead of the dreaded "Oh, what do I eat?" thing it used to be. I feel fabulous and a lot of the aches and pains I used to have are either gone or at least lessened.
Thanks for your blog and congratulations on your great job!

A Busy Start to Summer

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Wow! I can't believe that it has been 3 weeks since I have blogged. I have been sooo busy. I am really excited as I am teaching summer school for the month of June. What is exciting about it is that I am teaching Health to 7ith and 8th graders with an emphasis on exercise. I have 2 classes a day that are each about 3 hours long. We have been going outside and walking 30 minutes doing a 1 1/2 mile loop around campus. I have also brought in an old exercise bike and rowing machine and the kids can use those as they complete their assignments if they wish. They are really getting into it and I find that a big accomplishment. I have them keeping a log of their exercise minutes each day also. It has been so much fun. One boy, after telling me that he didn't think he would be able to walk because he has a high BMI is walking and keeping up each day. He rides the stationary bike at least 10 minutes as well, and now he has told me that his goal for the summer is to lose weight. It feels so heart warming to think that I may be making a positive change in these kid's lives. I only hope that they will keep up with the exercise after summer school is over. Teaching is also keeping me focused on my fitness goals. I automatically walk 3 miles with the kids each day and I have been trying to log in at least 65 miles weekly on my road bike. My weight loss has slowed to about a pound a week--but that's okay. I am getting thinner and am into size 14's for the first time in MANY years. I am almost at my pre pregnancy weight from my first daughter which was 27 years ago--That is a major accomplishment for me. I am loving my new lifestyle and am still focused on getting down to my college weight. It may be a long journey but it will be well worth it--Oh yeah--my Blood pressure has been averaging 117/62--without meds!!! Can you tell--I am just so hyped up. Thanks to all who have helped me stay focused on this journey!!

What a Week!!!

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

This has been a trying week! My daughter and son-in-law came in from California for a visit, Mother's Day, an 18th birthday party, eating out numerous times and to top it all off--I came down with a horrible cold. All of this did cut into my exercise program and I must admit that I did stray as far a eating--but it must not have been as bad as I thought as I weighed in today and had another loss. I am now down a total of 44 pounds. This is so exciting. I need to get back on track now and focus on getting in all of my exercise and proper eating.

We visited friends and family this week and it felt great when they all mentioned my weight loss. Many hadn't seen me since I started and had no idea that I was trying to lose. They all wanted to know how I did it. It was a good feeling--almost as good a feeling as buying clothing that is smaller than I have worn in many years. My daughter picked out a shirt for me and I told her that it just wasn't my style and she told me that it's the new style for the new me. That felt better than eating an ice cream sundae~!!!!

Hectic Few Days!!

Thursday, May 15, 2008

It's really been a hectic few days around here. My daughter and son-in-law flew in from California for a visit. Of course things seemed to revolve around eating and not always healthy unfortunately. But with my increased cardio I still managed a 1 pound loss upon weigh in on Monday. I was happy with that! That gives me a total of 42 pounds down now. This week will still be hectic as we have the kids in as well as a birthday celebration to attend. I will try to make good choices--I know I am capable of it. Need to not slack off on the exercise as well. With as crazy as things are at school right now, I need the exercise to de-stress as well as burn calories. 10 more days and then a one week break before summer school starts. It'll go really fast!

Weigh In Day

Monday, May 05, 2008

Another good week!! Lost 2 more pounds bringing my total to 41 pounds lost. Yesterday I went on a 25 mile bike ride and really pushed myself. It was a bit windy (but wind is my friend--it makes me strong!:) ) I averaged 14.2 mph which is good for me. I also split and stack wood yesterday for about 1 1/2 hours which was quite the upper body workout--I used a hydraulic splitter but still had to move and handle all of the logs more that once. I think I burned some serious calories yesterday and it felt great!!!
