Ugh! I gained some weight

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

I finally faced the scale this morning. I did not have the strength to record this on my ticker. I am up 5 pounds. I have to get myself back in control. I have to get myself past the not being able to walk (at least another 2 weeks). I have to get my mouth in the game. No more girl scout cookies! No more excuses! I will be eating/drinking mindfully. I want to be healthy. I want to be fit. I want to move faster on the volleyball court. I want to look good in a bathing suit this August. I can exercise at least 3 days per week. I can stretch everyday. I can drink 8 glasses of water. I can eat veggies, fruits and whole grains that are delicious and better for me than processed, fat-filled crap. And enjoy eating it. And have the satisfaction of knowing what I put in my mouth is helping me reach my goals.

We are too funny. I woke up this morning thinking I need to check on Jenn and her progress! Last night before I went to bed I decided to make a renewed commitment to eat healthy and exercise and that made me think about you! Hang in there! 5 pounds isn't bad! You've lost that in a week before!

I am sorry you had a rough time the past few weeks. It sounds like you have gotten your attitude in gear for turning things around. THis is a hard road we travel together. We struggle every day to make good choices. I know I have a lifelong history of eating problems to overcome. But you are here and you are sharing your struggles and you are making a plan. I wish you every success.

There ya go! You've got just the right attitude to turn around this 5-lb. gain. Why was March so rough for you and me - and who knows how many others? I don't really know, but it was a real bear...and I'm working to undo some damage, too! Down with "processed, fat-filled crap" - and not down my gullet! - Sara emoticon

Slow but steady

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

I am not beating myself up for bad choices. I am just choosing something different when I start to feel bad about it. I am allowing my awareness to lead me to better stuff. I have been kicking butt doing circuit style exercising at home. I would still like to go walking (hopefully will start back up next week), but I am finding that continuous flow in my home strength exercises gives me a good feeling afterwords.

I know what you mean. When I do my strengthening exercises, my muscles feel warm and relaxed afterward...that pleasant feeling when they've been put to good use :) You're doing emoticon - Sara emoticon

better attitude today

Monday, March 16, 2009

I am feeling so much better today. Last week I was super down. I still can't do the exercise I love, but I don't have a head cold anymore so I am bound and determined to do what I can as far as strength exercise goes. I will also get over to my Moms and ride the exercise bike at least twice this week. I have a kitchen full of healthy stuff. Today, I conquer!

I feel like giving up

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I hate not being able to walk! I am grouchy (also going to start my period any second). I am feeling outrageously stressed. I hate having a neuroma in my foot! I hate calories! I feel like I can't consume less calories to make up for my inability to get in some good cardio. UGH! I am so frustrated!

I swear, I am going to come up with a plan I can live with. I can not live with gaining more weight back. I can not live with being unhealthy.

I am doing some exercising. I need to find a reasonable alternative to walking. I think my mom might have an exercise bike. I'm gonna call her and find out if I can use it. I will eat fruit and veggies. I will drink water. I think I can , I think I can, I think I can...

No, you can't give up!!!! That's an order!

I'm so sorry about your foot - I had to look up the condition because I wasn't familiar with it. I read up on the condition and it looks like it's a pretty serious one, so I'm certain that you've seen a specialist! But the good news is there's therapies that can treat the symptoms and it can get better with the appropriate course(s) of action. That's a bright spot in our cloudy sky sweetie!

My first thought was a stationary bike. You can try to borrow your mom's bike or scan the classifieds and eBay and garage sales for a used one. You can probably pick one up for pretty cheap. It doesn't have to be top of the line, just a good stable bike that will get you moving. But of course, since we're talking about your foot you'll have to be careful on a bike as well. The bikes that look like rowing machines are probably a better choice with a foot injury because you're weight is on your butt and not on your feet per say.

Water aerobics could be an excellent alternative since there's much less pressure to joints in the water, or swimming is the ultimate exercise. Maybe there's a pool in your community that would cost much to swim a couple times a week.

There are option for you to exercise, you just have to find the cheapest and most effective for you!

I won't allow you to give up friend! Yes, there's a bump in the road ... but I know you can get over it ... or heck, go around it! You've come this far ... you can make it work. You'll just have to be creative. If you still aren't able to come up with an alternative that's effective, ask your doctor to refer you to a physical therapist that will create a plan for you! That's their job.

Keep your chin up, your head held high and be positive and creative! You'll get over this hurdle and be much better for it in the long run! I'll be here if you need more motivation, suggestions or just plain old motivation! I know you can do this ... so you need to know it too!

Be Positive! Be Strong! Be Confident! Be Committed!

Your Spark Pal,

Jenn, I had a feeling you were feeling stressed out today so I had to check your spark page. Would you like to check out the exercise machine that I have in my basement? My Mom had to use it when she broke her ankle/foot for rehab. If you think you could use it....come on over and check it out. It would be a low impact workout on your foot. You are welcome to use it for how ever long you want. It's just sitting in the basement. It folds up so you can store it up against the wall. If you try it out and want to borrow it we can throw it in our truck and take it to your place.

Hang in there. I understand being frustrated with healing. Eat well, do lots of leg lifts and core exercises until your foot feels better. I know you can do it!!
