Do Over

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I would like to replace a harsh word with a kind one.

I would like to choose a healthy eat over a greasy one.

I would like to move rather than sit.

I would like to lean in close for a hug rather than to gossip.

I would like to live in the now and not be sorry I didn't later.

I would like to be a blessing and not a curse.

I will do this over and over-starting NOW!

Starfish and Coffee

Sunday, January 16, 2011

It's a song from Prince. Starfish and Coffee.

It keeps playing through my head this morning.

I love a quite, no place to go, no urgent needs to be met, kinda mornin'.

The song also make me think of a friend. The one who told me about the song.

Do you ever think someone pops in your head out to the blue for a reason?

And you feel a compelling urge to connect with them?

I "see" her all the time on Facebook.

We go to the same church. But our church is so big and there are 5 different services. So we rarely see each other.

I guess I'll send out a loving prayer to her/for her.

And I will go back to sipping coffee and reading the remaining pages of Harry Potter book 4.

Mind Control

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

So...

I've got a little cold.

It has set me off track a weeeeee bit.

I didn't really track my food yesterday.

I haven't worked out since Saturday.

Today I found myself slightly freaking out.

I mean, I set GOALS for this year!

Ones I thought were REALLY doable.

But then my mind starts wandering...

Like, "so what if I don't lose any weight this week, I lost an extra pound last week-which really puts me ahead of the game."

I like to be ahead.

I don't like to fall behind.

And, even though I am currently ahead, just by thinking I may fall behind I get all mopey and start to derail myself.

Like with the "stand in the kitchen and eat baked chips and salsa straight from the bag and jar, respectively, without measuring."

Yup.

That's me.

Gonna have to work to fix this.

Wish I had better mind control.

Standing in kitchen snacking from a bag...Not Allowed!

Being sick, not exercising because you feel crappy and tired...Definitely Allowed!

Not losing any weight one week because body is sick....Allowed!

Beating yourself up because you think that you may be behind by being sick...Not Allowed!

Getting better by resting and eating well knowing your SP friends are behind you all the way...TWO THUMBS UP ALLOWED!

Get better soon!

I know how you feel! I'm the exact same way - I let myself off the hook way too easily! I have a few friends (all in different cities) and we're doing a 10 lbs challenge trying to see who can (safely and effectively) lose 10 lbs first; we weigh in every Wednesday, send each other recipes and keep each other motivated. Plus it helps that I want to win so it keeps me on track and accountable to more than just myself. You could even start a group on here to do that as well!

The devil is a virus!

Sunday, January 09, 2011

Every stinkin' time I start exercising and eating better I get SICK!

What the Freak???

Why does this happen every time?

I thought that exercise and good eats build up the immune system.

My body feels like it has been through the ringer (sore muscles, I kick-started my "Aunt Flo", started working long days again).

Which may be why I caught a cold.

The stress I have placed on it has weakened it, briefly.

Hopefully I will just suffer through this one, measly, from-the-devil, virus; and be super immune from now on.

I mean, I have heard TONS of people tell tales of "never being sick" due to their healthy lifestyle.

As for today, I will read, relax, mend.

Oh--And CELEBRATE 'cause I GOT RID OF TWO POUNDS!!!!

emoticon on the two pound loss!! I think I read some years back that when we stir things up the body tries to get rid of toxins. Can you start back just a little slower maybe? Just thinking. It's frustrating when you start to build a little momentum and get sick, or in my case, injured. I am pretty sure you're going to hang in there so emoticon

Focus on what you CAN live WITH

Friday, January 07, 2011

*I posted this as an answer to someones blog, but thought it would make a good blog on my page*

I have been on Spark since Oct 2008. I have my ups and downs. But a of what I have learned sticks with me. I drink water obsessively. I consume within my sodium limits without really trying (restaurant visits excluded). I have not always exercised consistently, but I have been more active. I have taken a path of self-discovery and have focused more on what I can live with versus what I have to live without. I congratulate myself for effort rather than results. I reward myself for results too, but it is more about making an attempt. (ten minutes is better than no minutes). Action creates motivation. There is no room for beating yourself up. Just make a better choice the next time the opportunity arises. emoticon

Good way to look at things. A step in the right direction, is still the right direction. One step becomes two and so on. You are so right to say that action creates motivation. Thank you! emoticon emoticon emoticon
