here's the thing...

i am originally from what used to be a small, charming, all-American town in the southern portion of the midwest.

we had down home values and took care of our neighbors.

everyone knew everyone.

grandma used to have a saying...i may not know what you did tonight but before the sun comes up, i will. she was accurate.

if you sneezed it was in the Sentinal. the daily paper.

our town didn't have alot of weath or growth.

we did/do have tradition and legacy.

our legacy revolves around our high school sports, as does our social lives and small talk.

our team is the Orphans.

the name is odd, but comes from back after the great depression when we were poorer than the town is now (which is saying alot). our basketball boys went to state and when they showed up the announcer said 'they look like a bunch of orphans but they sure can play basketball'

and they could. they still can. and there isn't much more than that to our town.

they won state that year. and the Orphan name stuck.

we are currently in a race on USA today for the best high school mascot. We have won state, region, and are now in the finals.

st patrick's day is gone...time to cleanse

so i've been on a bit of a high lately.

got hitched

we honeymooned on a carnial cruise line that didn't break down and was actually quite lovely

got thru the god forsaken name change. there were times when i was sitting in the social security office that i was thinking how his first name combined with my maiden name had a lovely ring to it.

partied in a couple of different countries

partied in a couple of different states

we like to party

ate and drank our way through the carnival season and mardi gras

ran a few times

did a dirty girl mud run with my daughter

did the mcguires 5K with the whole family. all 7 of us

partied after

ate and drank my way thru the past weekend.

it is the weekend of my people and the snake chasing out of ireland.

for that, my blood type might likely be guinness positive

last night...in the guinness, corned beef, and soda bread haze it occurred to me that my body may thank me for a little cleansing.

so i made the cabbage soup...it's got a little kick.

tasty and i'm motivated.

my office-mate brought in yummy creamy mac and cheese and pulled pork. now...i'm a southern girl y'all. those are food groups.

i managed to not harm my colleague.

we will call that progress

At midnight on New Years Eve I married my best friend.

i was walked down the aisle by my strikingly handsome son

We were married by an amazing woman with great mojo that just beams from her fingertips.

We were married on our property that we worked for, built on, cultivated, and created with love, sweat, blood, and tears


Our 5 teenaged children stood by us and surrounded us with their love and laughter



our friends and family came from all over the country to share our moment...and the free beer and wine
we had a memorial table to honor those who were watching from the stars

i am indeed a lucky girl

the last time i strayed from the spark it was because i was lazy.

this time, i was offended.

i'm back, not because i am 'over it,' but because there are so many of you that are wonderful and frankly i've missed you.

so for those of you who are easily offended when the wind blows the wrong way...probably shouldn't read my stuff.

i received an email from one of the coaches that someone had reported my former profile picture as inappropriate. The coach agreed with the reporter and asked me to replace it.

hmmmm

i am not saying that the photo was not suggestive, it was. but it also showed absolutely no bare body parts other than my back and my future husbands knees and hands. seriously



so here are some thoughts

this website is the celebration of wellness, the human body, and health.

my picture showed my shrinking waist and i thought it was gorgeous

i have seen numerous profile pictures of women in bras and panties to show before and after, pix with serious cleavage, a breastfeeding picture, and my favorite...a chick upside down on a pole.

why didn't i report them...check this out...NONE OF THEM OFFENDED ME

if an overweight girl can put up a picture in her bra and panties i find her brave and i've told some so.

if you have the cleave and you dig it...show it

the breastfeeding picture is beautiful and i love it. i'm sick to death of the public breastfeeding controversy. i don't eat in the bathroom and my kids never did either. that's what they are there for

and the pole chick...rocking her strength...you go girl.

and to the person who found my beautiful display of health and love offensive...i'm sorry you are so miserable that you cannot see the beauty in that. what a horrible world that must be to live in
