I think if I updated my weights from my WW tracker back to November my graph would look pretty similar to yours, although I've never been below 150! Keep up the great job!

"DIET"

Monday, April 25, 2011

SO I've done this before and maintained. Then I put some back on but I've maintained that. Now it's time to drop the extra & maintain again. So hubby says, "just DIET instead of lifestyle change" then maintain, which we already know you can do". He might have a point BUT I don't wanta hurt/shock/mess up my body either. Anyway, his suggestion is the ZONE diet (which his program promotes). I've done a little research on it & I'm just not sure. Then I saw a post from DIETITIANBECKY on here and I quote "Usually the ZONE is about:
40% carb, 30% protein and 30% fat
SO use your SP calorie range, and aim for the lower end of your SP carbohydrate range (which is about 45% of your calories), and the upper end of your protein and fat ranges (which are about 30-35% of your calories"
I follow that li'l chart at the bottom of my nutrition tracker to a T most days (that I track anyway). So I'm thinking I'm just gonna keep to that and take her advice (above) and see what happens from there).
Here's hopin......

that is pretty much what I stick to ...I go paleo/zonish....paleo says no dairy ...but I can't give that up...so sort kinds both...but the ratios and the combining protein/carb/fat at EVERY meal and snack def work for me!

I recently switched back to a "diet." I wasn't having much success with tracking and it was making me insane, so I am doing the "17 day diet." It is new. I took a little heat on here for it, but one week into it I can already see the difference in myself. So do what you need to do, and get to that goal weight any healthy way you can. emoticon

Too Much/Too Little

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Here's my latest dilemma I'm not sure how to deal with. I stay w/in cal range alloted by SP. I try to stick to the lower end of my allowances, altho I'm what I call a picker/licker. I lick my fingers & pick at things a lot, so that adds cals that I don't enter. But I rarely go over 1550. Then I've been doing Zumba on my PS3 about 3 times a wk, maybe a li'l more. All sounds good right??? Here's where the dilemma comes in... on my fitness tracker I get this from SP:

*The number of calories you should eat to manage your weight depends on many factors, including how many calories you burn through exercise. It may seem counterintuitive, but eating too little while burning too much can actually hurt your weight-management goals and the outcome of your fitness program. If you are consistently burning more calories than recommended here, please update your fitness settings as soon as possible. This may adjust your calorie ranges (if necessary) so you can reach your goals in a timely and healthy manner.

So this has happened before so I started eating more... then I didn't lose, and I got discouraged.
SO now what???????????????????????

Thanks for the input, Tricia. I think I'm gonna just do what I've been doing. It seems to be working, I'm down 2ish lbs!

I don't know, I've gotten the same message, so I went and adjusted my scheduled calorie burn, and it still gave me the same calorie limits. I emailed SP help, and they said the dietary ranges are reset automatically if you change your exercise plan. Hmm. So mine are the same, then why am I getting that message? I did a little google research on calorie needs, and found out that to lose at the rate I want, exercising at the level I am, I technically should only eat 800 calories a day, which is considered unhealthy. So, I just stick to the 1200 SP gives me.

Confusing!! emoticon

WHY - DUH

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

Why is this so HARD?!? I KNOW how to lose weight! I've DONE it before! I FEEL better, LOOK better, KNOW better!!! When I get it I really get it! When I track & drink water & move, I feel it & I'm proud. It makes so much sense and yet it's so much easier to eat sweets & sit at the computer! But really who really wants the easier route. I'm constantly telling my son that easier is not always better (rarely actually). And here I am, taking the easier route & then being depressed about it (which of course causes me to stuff my face & pout and that's what's getting me here in the first place). I have turned into all the people I have "bashed" since losing my initial weight. People wanta complain but they don't wanta work! UGH!

I've tracked all 3 meals today & have done GREAT if I stick to it. BFF is coming over to Zumba in a few mins, so I'll work hard to sweat. Now if I can just stay OOOONNNNN the wagon.

A little motivation from other friends has always been my biggest help. Who's on the wagon with me???

Spring weather is coming, which will make getting outside and moving more enjoyable. Al, you are such an inspiration....and human. Mistakes, admitting it and learning/teaching from them is so admirable. You have helped so many people whether it's with advice on raising kiddos, spiritual guidance, or healthy lifestyle changes.
YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF SO MANY.

As long as you don't let that wagon drive away...it is ok to have some bumps in the road! Stick with it...

Admitting that you need to change is the first step, and you've already started to make those changes. Keep up the good work!

Esther and I have jumped back on the wagon together. Not ready to start tracking yet since that just ADDS to my tendency to obsess over food! But she and I went to Wal-mart and got these fun double wall insulted cups with heavy duty straw (water is so much more tasty out of a fun cup!) and purchased a cardio dance dvd since it seems to be the type of exercise we both most enjoy.

Reflecting

Friday, November 12, 2010

It's hard to believe that about 3 yrs ago - ish, I was weighing in at 138. 8 lbs away from my goal & my HS graduating weight. Then along came my precious boy...I put on a few, but I didn't want it to let me down, after all I was pregnant & had a baby... OK, now he's creepin on 3 yrs old and I'm NOWHERE near 138!!!
I have made excuse after excuse. Reverted to every bad habit I've ever had and neglected any physical activity. Those ugly excuses have been "working for me" until yesterday. I put on a pair of jeans (that had been getting a li'l snug, but hey, they fit) and now...they won't zip. I am REALLY hoping this is the kick in the pants (no pun intended) that I really needed. I'm hoping to continue to find some motivation and support.

Now....where to start....

I'm there with ya, although I just had the baby I had been in a little health slump even before I was pregnant. I hadn't been exercising and when I got pregnant I used it as an excuse to not exercise and now I have about twenty pounds to lose! yikes! It almost seems overwhelming, but we can do it!!!! My mom & I are going to Weight Watchers on Thursday to help motivate us a little more :)
