Sweet Tooth Challenge: week 1

Sunday, August 19, 2012

I accepted the sweet tooth challenge because I want the ability to remain within my calorie limit in any setting.

My observations about my own sweet tooth are:
-I cannot say no to sweets when I am away from home (restaurant, someone else's house, on the road, etc.)
-I am well-equipped to say no to sweets at home except when:
*I am stressed.
*I am super-tired.

Some healthy swaps I've made this week:
-On Friday, I swapped fruit sorbet for ice cream.
-On Saturday, I swapped healthy apple crisp for a chocolate brownie.
-Today, I swapped a bowl of cereal for a candy bar.

I look forward to learning from this challenge and seeing that trophy on my SparkPage! emoticon

Company

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

We've been sharing space with wonderful family members since Friday. Not eating the usual foods or following the usual schedule...managing yoga in the early mornings, daily walks, and running around with the little ones. The best thing to do is just minimize calorie intake because there are fewer opportunities to burn 'em off.

I wouldn't trade it for anything. Good times. emoticon emoticon

I, Robot

Saturday, August 04, 2012

After thoroughly enjoying playing The Olympics Game: Work Out While You Watch game, I'm looking forward to continuing this fun way to get a well-rounded strength training. Once the Olympics are done, I plan to watch 20-30 minutes of the movie "I, Robot" every couple of days. Different exercises will be called for depending on what happens in the movie. For instance, if Will Smith's character is running = do 10 bridges. If Will Smith's character is eating/drinking something = do 5 push ups. Any hand to hand combat? = 15 supermans.

When I have the plan completed, I will share it.

The results of my calorie counting this week are below (2,000 cal./day):

Sat., July 28 – 2,276 (better than sex cake for dessert at the restaurant on the lakeshore)
Sun., July 29 – 2,315 (deep fried lunch on the road home from the lakeshore)
Mon., July 30 – 2,074
Tues., July 31 – 1,940
Wed., Aug. 1 – 2,105
Thurs., Aug. 2 – 1,998
Fri., Aug. 3 – 2,234 (finished my son’s uneaten pizza at dinner)

Have a great week ahead. emoticon

Workout challenges sound like a great idea--much healthier than drinking games. Lol emoticon emoticon

You'll Have to Excuse Me, Please.

Monday, July 30, 2012

My family spent a weekend on the lakeshore. Fortunately, I packed carrots, grapes, cereal, and healthy popcorn to snack on. You will have to excuse me, however, for unabashedly enjoying a yummy dessert at the restaurant on Friday night. It was a small slice of cheesecake and I savored every bite! emoticon

You might notice I went quite a bit over my calorie limit on Sunday. We polka danced all afternoon and pieces of cake were passed around to everyone. I couldn't pass it up! emoticon

So it was a week full of sinful (yummy!) slip ups. These are my numbers for the week:

Sat., July 21 – 2,062
Sun., July 22 – 2,486
Mon., July 23 – 2,005
Tues., July 24 – 1,920
Wed., July 25 – 1,811
Thurs., July 26 – 1,845
Fri., July 27 - 2,120

I'm happy to say I've begun drinking green smoothies a few times a week. They are nearly as delicious as dessert and I know they will do great things for my health. Go team Green Smothie Lovers! emoticon

Now you can erase those numbers and start again, This is my 26th day w/o dessert and I sat right by an ice cream machine this afternoon and didn't want any. I won't say I don't eat other things that aren't good for me but sweets were my trigger foods.
