Pretty nice to have lost five pounds on the turbo cycling this week. That's my first full week of carb cycling, and I started eating better at the beginning of September. I am astounded how Chris Powell has the mechanics worked out so you can eat just about all you want (up to a thousand calories more than the other days) one day a week on the turbo carb cycling plan (there are other plans, but reward meals are a part of each) and don't exercise on the weekends, but normally lose about five pounds a week. So cool.
I want to get more variety to eat this coming week for the turbo plan. Not just chicken and shakes. He has other lean low sodium meats listed that you can eat, I just have to go get some. I want more variety of veggies too. I was thinking fennel might be nice in a shake! Well, here's to finding out!

Oh yeah, you'd better believe I went out there and enjoyed the sunshine today. Just lying down in a lounge chair, but still...it felt so nice. It's quite breezy so I had leaves falling down on me from time to time, but it's still pretty much green all around out there. It's supposed to be 80.
The temp is to plummet after today, and I'm disappointed I couldn't go kayaking -I've only been able to go twice this year.....but I understand hubby being sore after backpacking (just got home yesterday). Although...he's out chopping away at overgrown brush on our trails right now! It needs it though. I'm glad he's doing that too, it's been a little challenging to walk the dogs lately, with thorns grabbing at us, many of the branches being right across the paths.
Such a clear sky. The rain is to come, but I'm enjoying the beauty of the last lovely day of summer while I can. :)

Today I decided mainly to relax and enjoy the day. It's one of the last days of summer. My favorite season, and it was warmer than yesterday. So I went and sat at the pond, went and laid down under some evergreens (I've wanted to do that all summer, and finally did it today), then went and laid down on a picnic bench with the sun shining on me...until a chipmunk saw me and had to complain about it. Then I went back to the pond. I did see a couple kinds of turtles there. It was neat to sit on the bench there because, though it is practically buried in spearmint, it smells so good to be surrounded by such! :)
I saw a couple butterflies too.
I've had a problem with my skin for awhile now- a year likely. I've wanted to deduce what it could be on my own. I'd try to see if it was an allergic reaction to this food or that (since I know I'm allergic to some, since I was skin tested when I was a teen), but know you can add allergies any time.
My skin was actually getting better being on this new way of eating, and then I would break out again here and there. I decided to keep notes on it- what I ate and when I broke out. My daughter gave me a sugar free cookie she'd made, and I had it today. My tummy was not happy with it. I decided to look up the sugar substitute and it didn't seem to be that (erythritol), so somehow I kept looking and ended up at a site about celiac disease and oh my goodness, it showed a woman's arms that look just like mine. It said that you can get it on your scalp too- which I've also been dealing with. Other places too- which I have (my belly currently). I know it's not psoriasis- my mom and brother have that. It's different. It went on to say you can develop celiac disease if you have thyroid problems. Well, yeah, I do. So I went back and looked, and sure enough, it's after I've had things that had to do with gluten that I've broken out. Even the cheap oatmeal (I was surpised that even soy crop can be rotated with wheat crops and so cause problems with gluten in soy products). So I'm going to go gluten free in hopes my arms will be all cleared up soon. My scalp too!
I thought I'd be writing a blog last night but I was just too tired when I got home from my daughter's house.
It had been fun sealing canning jars of shredded cabbage, romaine lettuce I'd torn up. Also put some machine washable shelf liner in one set of cabinets yesterday.
Today I sealed some celery and some matchstick carrots I'd previously just plain put in canning jars. So cool to have them neatly lined up in the fridge, knowing they're going to stay nice and fresh and so easy to get into and to seal back up afterward!

Let's see if I can remember everything I took out of packages and put into smaller ones today. Kale, spinach, mixed greens, romaine, (It is SO strange to see a big package of these four things each shrink way down, in their new packaging of course, and make crinkle sounds as it's doing so with that sealer, lol), leeks, green onions, carrots, radishes, tofu- hm, maybe that's it.
Then the new canning sealers came in. Ooooo, I can't wait to put salad in those, in the fridge- and other things in jars and start stocking my shelves with full canning jars!
Speaking of, I should try to find what I need to make apple butter or such, our wild apples look like they're ready to be taken care of.

I got all the meat separated, that I had purchased last night. Some of it went right in the freezer and some of it got marinated. In fact, I need to go separate THAT and get some in the freezer before I head to bed.
It's been a full day though. My daughter and son-in-law came over and we had lunch together before we went to an edible plants presentation/walk.
It had to be postponed 1.5 hours, so I called my mom to remind her about it and see if she would like to come, since she's always wanted to go to one of these things. Her foot has been hurting her though, so she wasn't sure she could handle it. Well she did come and she was very glad to have finally gotten to go to one of these. We learned some good stuff.
Boy was I hungry when I finally got home. Should have brought some food with me. I was chewing a jolly rancher chew (yeah, allowed on my reward day with carb cycling), and one of my molars broke (the back side of it). A tooth I had a deep/wide filling put in when I was a kid. Oh well.
Hubby and I had to head out for a few things and we split a sub to eat. He wanted all this gunk topping on it and I asked if he'd still be able to taste the ham if he had all that, so he changed his mind on the dressings. :)
Tomorrow I need to separate some veggies (too much in the packages), to make them last longer. Already did that with raspberries tonight.
I'd better get after that chicken now.
