First work day all summer

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

If you don't count the half hour it took to meet the student last week, it was my first work day for the summer. Looks like I'll only work one more day this summer, unless someone else needs a sub by the 15th of August. It was nice to know I still know what to do, lol.

So it looks like you will have most of the Summer off. So that is good I hope. Have lots of hiking adventures and relaxing by your pond. emoticon

Adrenalin makes it hard to sleep :)

Monday, July 28, 2014

It is hard to go to sleep after your adrenalin is up! I just did my first Jamberry online party and it was fun. It was just a bit hard to keep it within the allotted hour I gave myself, lol! Plus, I had people earning points and I had to add those up and answer questions at the same time, lol. It was good though. The party doesn't close until next Sunday night so I'm looking forward to a nice party between now AND then!
Anyway, I'd better try to unwind!
How are you guys doing? What have you been up to?!

Have a great week emoticon emoticon

a movie and adjustments

Sunday, July 13, 2014

After church my friend Amy and I watched The Fiddler on the Roof -the extended version. I can see why they didn't keep all that footage, lol, but Amy had really wanted to see the movie again and no one else would watch it with her so I'm glad we got that three hours in. :)
I have been having a nasty back lately. I thought I was doing better and so took both dogs for a walk. Mind you, I tie their leashes around my hips, figuring my hips can take any pulling they do, better than any other part of my body. So at one point, the basset hound walked as far out as he could to the left of me, while my other dog walked to the right and then suddenly HAD to chase a frog. She LOVES to do that- but it yanked me so hard and fast to the right that after that I felt like I was walking lopsidedly (is that a word?!), and had the pain to go with it- that just kept getting worse. I finally prayed thoroughly on it and each day have had various adjustments happen- yesterday I turned to the right quickly with just my upper body, as I was sitting in a chair, and felt something move, for instance. When I got into my car with a huge platter of veggies (for a party), I had to dodge the steering wheel to put it on the seat next to me (I was in a hurry, so didn't go around to the other door)- and when I did, I heard a bunch of things readjust. Today I'm not in pain- was able to HELP walk the dogs. I think, though it takes more time.. I'm just going to have to walk one dog at a time when I want to walk them before rain comes or such. Then I won't have to be so concerned about going out of alignment. SO, I'm finally back exercising, but since sore yet from things being back in place, I only helped walk the dogs. Tomorrow I expect to do more. :)

I am glad you are feeling better, but I think you should take your dogs one at a time for now on. You sure don't want that to happen again.
Take good care now emoticon Jackie

Take it slowly. A bad back is nothing to play around with. When I read you tied them to your hip I just cringed. Take is very slow.

A beautiful long hike at a state park today

Friday, July 04, 2014

There are more pictures, and so many more are of even more beautiful areas at this state park, but this gives you a bit of an idea of what it was like. We actually got to walk under a waterfall at one point. At more than one point there was a smaller waterfall going over just past us, as you see in one of the pictures above. We started out doing a long trail that went nowhere. We had to come back on that trail to go find how to go around the gorge better, to see what we had come to see- but it was all a good workout. 3.5 hours of it. My knees down are sore!

Quite a workout, hope you relax this evening so that you can continue on.
You sure don't look like you went on a 3.5 hour hike from the picture of you. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I LOVE state parks -- such a great resource of beauty & fitness. Your pictures remind me of a park in Wisconsin with a winding trail that led to the source of a creek.

Hope your knees are well tomorrow! You're getting stronger every day!

I did a morning 2 mile walk, and the weather was cool and sunny. Nice way to start the day. However, your choice is fabulous.

I went mountain climbing today (pics)

Saturday, June 21, 2014

I KNOW I burned a whole lot more calories than the tracker will allow me to input. Boy do I know it, but anyway, I'm not going to quibble over it any more than saying that. :)
My husband, our daughter, and her husband, and I went and climbed up an almost constantly steep mountain, that three of us had done before. My son-in-law had never been on this one, and he had wanted to as part of his birthday gift from us. It was perfect weather for the day, though cloudy at the top. It took about an hour to get to the top. I don't think it ever took that short a time before, but my SIL is so used to hiking the high peaks, and has very long legs...! I am not in good shape, so it was rough going for me for a lot of the way going up. I had to keep telling myself to not look up and see how steep and impossible it looked, but to take one step at a time. I was thinking of a kids' song about climbing a mountain one step at a time. :)
This is me at the top.

Closer mountains are viewed on the side behind where I'm standing.
and on the other side you can see mountains and lakes further away.
After we ate lunch, we left the top of the mountain there, and went over to another part that is more popular because it has a "Chimney". This is an area on the way to that, that you have to climb to get over to the chimney.
and this is the chimney, but pic I was able to get, my legs were too wobbly to try to get closer to it- so you have foliage in front of it. Oh, daughter took a Great picture of it- here you go:
There were a lot of rocks around there that could be climbed, and my daughter was determined to do just that, but here are the guys first.
My daughter climbed another area- more difficult to get up (and down), and her husband decided he would do the same.
I took a picture of some pretty
Here is a picture of my husband, daughter and son in law on a rock across from the rock the couple had been on in the other picture.
More cool rocks and roots My daughter under some other rocks in the area.
I took lots of pictures, trying to give you an idea of how steep the climb was all the way up, but this was about the best that came out of them all I guess.
My husband has gone spelunking on this mountain (or I should say, in it), and he has also done rappelling (using rope to go down a cliff). I've been with him (and we have taken others- this was all years ago), and they did those things with him (not me though, I just watched, haha).
The ride back home got sunny, and to see the mountains and lakes, rivers and creeks, with the beautiful clouds and bright blue sky- ah, it was so nice. :)
Okay, I'm adding some pans that I took that my husband did his best to piece together for me just now.
