Today is low carb day so I decided to try making veggie shakes again. This time it tasted pretty good, with that addition of non-dairy milk, rather than using water. It cut down on the sweetness of the protein powder I'm able to use. Though I did find another flavor of theirs that I can use, and ordered it today, yay.
Today's first shake was made with my protein powder, two cups of spinach (which I'm testing again to see if I break out from), coconut milk, and a half of an avocado for the fat I needed for the meal. The second one was the same except almond milk instead of coconut, and only one cup of spinach and a cup of mushrooms.
Now those mushrooms gave a bit of a strange flavor truthfully, but not bad...
I'm just so grateful the shakes no longer taste like they did the week I threw up some of my shakes (due to an allergy to zucchini turns out)!

Yesterday I went to the dentist. I broke a tooth mid-September and hubby has been wanting to know how much to put in for FSA so I got my appointment over with and know how much we'll need for my teeth. They WANT to build up two teeth, and crown one. However, they gave me an alternative -to "fill" both. I can have two surface filling for one and three surface filling for the other (the broken one)- and that was WAY cheaper so I'm going with that. It's not 'til February though. The second tooth that needs the building up is the one I'm chewing with so much on the opposite side of my mouth from the broken molar. It's very sensitive a good bit of the time, because of it being worn down, so it's not very pleasant to chew.
All that to say that between that and the zucchini and celery (which was what I was thinking was so great to get quick doses of veggies with in shakes) making me vomit that one week- I've not been having much in the way of shakes. Just can't think of low carb veggies that would be good in them -other than maybe cucumbers, but boy they're low in carbs. That and the protein powder that I CAN use I don't like the flavor of (the other flavors have milk added- an allergen for me). I can't use any other protein that I've looked at. I won't give up- I think I'll try using almond milk (I may not be able to eat almonds- but maybe my skin will okay the milk made from them) and see if I can handle the protein flavor in that this coming week.
It takes a long time to chew the peppers I can eat (you're supposed to have two cups of veggies per five meals), so it's hard to want to take that to work with me. I did bring cucumbers to work but ended up not wanting to take the time to chew all that -plus, the tooth sensitivity...lessens that desire.
The dentist did give me maximum strength sensodyne. I have been using sensodyne..but not the maximum strength. Will have to try that and see how it goes.
There are some other veggies that I think I can eat but they don't seem that great in shakes. I'm not sure they aren't bothering my skin either, but will keep trying them.
Back to veggies- I have to admit I did not eat much in the way of veggies this last week, but then again, I'm pretty sure I got probably 5 servings of veg/fruit a day...
I actually mainly did lunch meat with gluten free bread for work meals...so salt holds water in too.
This week was "slingshot week" on the Chris Powell carb-cycling plan that I am doing. That means I ate "high carb" all week, ending with a reward day.
I didn't lose any weight. I didn't gain an ounce either. It's pretty typical to not lose any weight on a slingshot week (and maybe even gain a little). Slingshot week and reward day both surprise your metabolism so you're given a jump start to do well at losing weight the next three weeks ('til next slingshot week) of carb-cycling.
Well, if you stayed reading all the way to the end- you're a trooper, and thanks! :)

Hubby helped walk the dogs today and he was determined we do go out back. Someone did shoot while we were out there, but guess it wasn't real close by.
It was looking like no one had been on any of our trails since the snowfall between Wednesday and Thursday, until we got to one part of a trail and then there it was. They stayed on that trail and went to the pond and went around and onto another trail and we didn't keep following it then and headed home. I told my husband he should go put up the no trespassing signs now and he just laughed...

That's exciting- to get on the scale and see 2.6 pounds down! I knew my jeans were feeling loose on me yesterday- I've definitely been releasing fat, woohoo!
I had switched from turbo cycle to classic cycle last week and this week (turbo is supposed to be faster weight loss, I'm sure you can tell by its name), and my body definitely seems to release fat better following that (Classic). It's just alternating a low carb day with a high carb day (plus you get a reward day of up to 1000 extra calories of whatever you want on Sundays! -or whichever day you would choose in a week). It works!!!! Chris Powell knows what he's talking about. :)

This morning I went right out to shovel when I saw we did not get the one inch of snow we were told we were going to get, but more like 7-8 inches.
It took me 74 minutes to shovel. My lower back got a good workout. :)
After a bit I took the dogs individually for a trudge...errrr hike, and the total walk time was 45 minutes. We did not go out back- thanks to hunters I'm afraid to now...
Everything's really pretty outside. I even saw one branch draped with snow in one spot that looked like a garland drapes on a Christmas tree. So cool.
Even more cool was that it looked like three sets of deer tracks (the doe and her fawns I'd guess) went around and through the field, we were out in, this morning.
Then my parents took me to help them do some shopping for my daughter. I dunno how much we walked. Probably not more than five minutes or so.
While out they wanted to treat me to lunch. They wanted to go to BK. So I had to get a Csaesar salad and a 5 calorie lemonade (shoulda realized they'd sell bottled water- I was pretty thirsty and didn't think they would have that for some reason). Well, I'm allergic to cheese so I had them hold that. Can't eat croutons since they have wheat, so didn't have that, and the dressing choices weren't that thrilling but I did okay with the honey balsamic I guess. I think I got enough meat, veg and fat, like I would have had I been home, for low carb day's lunch. It's always "scary" to have a dressing and drink you aren't sure about the allergens in -but I just didn't bother to look, and hope I won't bloat or itch and that I have a good weigh in tomorrow. :)
I'm very glad to be sitting still for the moment. I'll have to get myself to get up and do some housework before my friend comes over tonight, but yeah, this is nice. :)
