As part of my challenge, I have to list 1 reason to lose weight for every pound I had to lose. We had to use our starting weights, no matter how far along we are in our weight loss journey. I categorically grouped my 108 reasons below.
Without further ado, I want to lose weight:
•Health•
1. So I don't have obstructive fat surrounding my organs
2. To prevent myself from getting diabetes
3. To sleep better
4. For more energy
5. To have a lower resting heart rate
6. To improve my circulation (from exercise): no more frequently numb feet
7. To get rid of my chronic back pain
8. To decrease the stress on my knees
9. To reduce my chances of future joint injuries
10. To decrease my chances of developing heart disease.
11. To increase my HDL
12. To decrease my LDL
13. To lower my blood pressure
14. To decrease my risk for cancer
15. Because overweight/obesity is linked to frequent yeast infections
16. Because extra weight also contributes to hemorrhoids
•Professional•
17. To increase my chances of getting a job
18. To increase my earning potential
19. To increase my chances of getting promotions
20. To be able to stand for long periods of time without being in agony, should I choose a profession in which it's necessary to do so
•Emotional/Psychological•
21. To be able to go shopping without the day ending in tears
22. To recognize myself when I look in the mirror instead of seeing a stranger staring back
23. To give myself the momentum to change the other aspects of my life causing unhappiness and dissatisfaction
24. When I see people from my past, to know that they're thinking "she looks great!" instead of "what happened to her?!"
25. To be less self-conscious
26. To be confident
27. To feel "good enough"
28. Because I don't want to be on the receiving end of fat discrimination or jokes
29. To stop feeling paranoid that everyone's watching and laughing at me
30. To feel good about at least 1 thing in my life
31. To leave the miserable events of my past that led to the weight gain behind me
32. To be happier
33. To have fewer reasons to be depressed
34. To deal with or resolve my depression more easily (from exercise)
35. To have higher self-esteem
36. To feel less lazy
37. To halt the emotional eating rollercoaster (from improving my nutrition)
38. To not feel embarrassed about how I look
39. To look and feel young while I still am young
40. To learn how to eat "normally" (from improving my nutrition)
41. To prove to myself that I can do it
42. To find an inner strength
43. To feel pretty
44. To be able to believe people when they tell me I look pretty
45. To not feel like the odd one out in a group of thin people
46. To stop feeling like a failure
47. To override my fear of success
48. To stand tall and look ahead instead of letting my weight-related inferiority complex cause me to stare at the ground
49. Because I want to be able to look at pictures and relive good memories, not obsessively focus on how fat I look
50. Because I don't want to hide from cameras because I know I'm going to look fat in pictures
•Physical•
51. So that my girth doesn't cause me to knock things off tables as I walk by
52. Because I don't want to get wedged between the door and toilet paper dispenser of public toilet stalls
53. Because when I get out of a "full" bathtub, I want to see more than an inch of water in it
54. Because I want to go skydiving or bungee jumping without having yards of skin blow in the wind
55. To be able to walk without my thighs rubbing together--or at least not have them rub so much that they cause brush burn!
56. Because I want to use a smaller towel. I want to be able to wrap a standard-sized towel around myself after I shower without there being a gap of exposed skin, and I don't want there to be such an excess of skin that it can't absorb all the residual water on my body.
57. To be able to paint my toenails with greater ease
58. So it's easier to put on shoes
59. So I can sit in more positions. Being obese makes it hard to sit Indian-style and practically impossible to cross your legs!
60. To be able to wear my rings
61. To be able to walk up stairs without huffing and puffing (embarrassing!)
62. To be able to wear heels without fear of hurting my knees and ankles. Balancing so much weight on such a small area is a recipe for disaster.
63. To be able to try ice skating for the first time, for the same reason as wearing heels
64. To be able to wear chokers and shorter necklaces without actually being, or looking like I'm being, choked
65. So that seat belts fit properly instead of cutting into my neck
66. Because I don't want to hear or feel my fat slap off other fat (this is seriously so disgusting and only started about 10 pounds ago)
67. Because I don't want to wait in lines for roller coasters not knowing if I'll fit inside
68. To find a belt that fits around me
69. Because I don't want to get to the point where I need to use a seatbelt extender
70. Because I don't want my body physically getting in my way when I try to do physical activities
71. To be able to take dance classes (fit into dance clothes and be more physically agile)
72. To be able to kneel without the weight hurting my knees
73. So I can fit comfortably in 1 seat (bus, plane, theater, etc.) without overflowing
•Superficial•
74. To fit into my "skinny clothes" that I've outgrown
75. To fit into my unworn clothes because they were too small for me when I bought them
76. To get rid of or at least decrease my belly pouch
77. To have a discernible neck (i.e. not just a fat bulge between my head and shoulders)
78. To have more clearly defined collarbones
79. To be able to see my shoulder blades
80. To only have 1 chin
81. To be able to wear sleeveless shirts and look good
82. To look good wearing shorts or skirts that hit above the knees
83. To be able to express myself through clothing rather than wearing whatever fits
84. To feel comfortable wearing a swimsuit in public
85. To easily find my size in a store without hunting high and low because they don't carry a lot of the larger sizes
86. To move out of the Women's/Plus sizes
87. To fit into Junior's sizes (even if I don't like their clothes--to BE ABLE to wear them if I want!)
88. Because I think my fat makes me hopelessly unattractive. I stopped wearing makeup altogether because I felt like nothing I did would help me look nicer because my fat (especially facial fat) made me so ugly.
89. To not be stuck having only cute purses or shoes (accessories are great, but I want to have cute clothes, too!)
90. Because cute accessories don't do a good job of complementing sweatshirts and -pants or other unappealing clothes
91. To be able to wear clothes that aren't hideous
92. So my calves fit into boots
93. So I can find sandals that don't cut into the widest part of my feet
94. Because if I ever get pregnant, I want to actually look pregnant and not just really fat
95. Because I want to go shopping at vintage clothing stores
96. To find a wider selection of bras that fit
•Monetary•
97. Because I don't want to pay a higher health insurance premium because of my liability
98. So I don't have to spend money on health care problems that could be prevented
99. Because I don't want to spend an excess on food when it could go towards more fulfilling routes than self-medication
100. To pay less for nice clothes than it would cost to buy nice-looking clothes in Women's/Plus sizes
•Practical•
101. So I can fit more clothes in my suitcase before it's full
102. So that I can use equipment or participate in activities without fearing weight limits
103. So I can eat in public without being paranoid that everyone's watching and judging me
•Interpersonal•
104. Because I don't want to deal with doctors' condescension
105. Because I don't want to have to settle for just anybody that'll take me
106. So that the insecurities and feelings of inadequacies that result from my weight won't impair future relationships
107. So that weight insecurities don't inhibit my sex life
108. So I feel accepted by my family

I've been pretty low-intensity with the cardio this week because of my knee issue. Almost every workout this week has hurt for the majority of the time. Yesterday, my knee hardly bothered me all day! I decided to try a new class: mix of kickboxing, floor aerobics, step aerobics, and ST exercises. It went great! We did a LOT of jumping jacks and jumping on 1 leg at a time, but it didn't bother my knees whatsoever.
Wouldn't you know that last night my foot (on the opposite leg as the knee that's been bothering me) started hurting. I thought I just had a crick in it at first, but it's gotten progressively worse. So today I iced it, popped some ibuprofen, and have been using crutches. It's getting frustrating, though. It's always something going on.
Oh well. If I feel like I have to take an extra day off from the gym (or more), I will. Begrudgingly. But this thing NEEDS to get better. I'm supposed to be going to New York--non-refundable deposit just put down (you guessed it) yesterday--on Wednesday. Which means a lot of walking. Which means that it can't hurt this bad to put weight on my foot.
Agghhhhh.

• Lose 5.2 or more lbs to hit my goal of at least 14 lbs lost
• Cardio: at least 220, preferably 275, mins per week (880-1100 total)
• Measurements: Not going to set specific goals because my body WILL lose where it wants to. I just want the numbers to go down or at the very least stay the same (no increasing!).
• ST—Abs: 2 sets of 15 reps each of regular and reverse crunches, 2x a day, 2 days a week (Add more exercises or more reps as strength increases)
• ST—Legs: 2 days a week of ball squats, calf raises, hamstring curls, hip ab/adductions
• ST—Upper body: 3 days a week of chest, back, and arm machines

Yay!
I think I *may* have hit all my goals in the past when my ranges were higher. I definitely haven't hit them lately though, and especially not since I started tracking fiber (too low) and sodium (way too high).
