Mom didn't feel up to going to church. Hubby got her some groceries while I played piano during second service. Took groceries over. She was in a funny mood...kept thinking she smelled Gas. She looked kinda wobbly and frail. Talked her into going out for lunch at Frisch's. When she looks that way if we can get her out and eat something she perks right back up. We did...she did...said she wasn't hungry but ate two plates of eggs and pancakes and perked right up. Checked on her a couple of times and she has stayed perked up all day. Think staying in a dark house is bad for her. She needs to get out but she won't do it unless we take her. Not sure if she isn't eating enough...groceries seem to disappear or she throws them out but thinking she doesn't do that. She is always on my mind. Sometimes she aggrevates me or concerns me when she gets down. Gotta keep her going or she quickly goes down hill. She needs stimulation but refuses most activities where she lives except breakfast twice a week she walks down the street to. We can't MAKE her active. So we try to keep a close check on her. I got her to exercise 3 times last week and she still gets down. Oh well when all is said and done...we have given her the best we have and what time we have. We've done our best to take care of her in her latter years.

Took some time for my nails and toes done this afternoon. Starting to enjoy time for myself and trying not to feel guilty to do things for "me".

Gotta still prepare a few food things for the week.

Off to enjoy the rest of my Sunday evening with hubby!

So glad you are taking some time to yourself. We all need to do that occasionally.

I have to echo Gryphon55's comments about Meals on Wheels. Most of the time Medicare will pay for it, which is not costly to the family or your mom. Senior center activities would be great for her as well. There can be a cost to that according to what program she does.

Do you have any siblings close by that can help share in the time that is involved making sure she is okay?

Glad to see you taking "me" time. That is so important for your own mental / physical health.

Have a blessed day ~ Donna

Does your town have meals on wheels or a senior center? The meals on wheels people here will visit for a brief time as they drop off the food, providing some social stimulation as well as good food.

I hope you can find something that helps your mom and takes some of the burden and frustration off of you. It's hard to watch our parents age, and the roles reverse.

Fabulous Saturday

WOW! Had a big surprise! Got on the scale this morning and read 193...felt discouraged because I've been working at eating withing my calorie range..or trying...working out more at Curves and trying to make good choices. So when I finally got on the computer tonight and went to weigh in with my team....I'd lost 2 pounds....whoo hoo! So much for going out to Max and Erma tonight. I felt like...why be so good...what does it do...and after eating...still stayed within my range today...MMMHHH! So surprised and encouraged tonight! Whoo Hoo!

Fabulous Friday

Friday, August 05, 2011

Got to spend a couple days out and about some for work. Like getting out of the office. Been around such positive people...hard to walk back in with Debbie Downer.

Community night downtown. Taking mom to hear the live bands and spend time outdoors in our lawn chairs...if the weather is nice. Going to her house at lunch as some lady shows her jewlery for sale and she is bugging me to go with her. So we can go at lunch time. She's really going to get some time in with us this week.

Off to make it a great day!

Thankful Thursday

Off to make it a great day! Get to get out of the office some today. Have had a couple days at meetings and I enjoy it. Yesterday was around such positive people and go-getters...hard to go back to the office. Those are the kind of people I like being around. The energy soars.

Being around positive people gives us all energy of the positive kind and increases our joy in life. So easy at times to be pulled down. None of us live a perfect, great life or most don't so it makes sense to surround ourselves with positive people as much as we can!

    Hope you enjoy your day.
The only one in our office is me.
The guys go early and I am not always a good influence on myself.
I have to perk up. emoticon

Terrific Tuesday

Doing better with tracking eating and planning ahead and not eating out so much. Big pat on my back. Takes more work though and planning!

Yesterday co-worker came back who's been off for surgery. Our Debbie Downer was in rare form. She has been OK while other co-worker was off. She was grouchy, grumpy and irritable. In the morning the atmospher was tense. Other co-worker and I just stayed in our offices and worked and tried to leave her alone.

As the day went on and Debbie Downer got enough Mt Dew in her she perked up. There is always some drama about her family or friends that gets her down. She never even asked Co-worker how she was feeling or doing. It's all about her. Her baby is due in September and as much as she's been gone...thinking she will be leaving could only hope!

Former co-worker kept telling me...don't let her drag you two pull her up. Doesn't seem to work that way. How we allow one person to control the office is beyond me. I try real hard...not to let her control it...but she does. You can't talk to her or she bites your head off. Other co-worker and just try to converse together...but then it feels like you are leaving her out or she butts into your conversation with we resort to being quiet until she becomes pleasant.

It really drags me down and dislike the work environment. She was better when it's just two of us. Don't know why the 3 makes her different.

I won't let her make me a bitter person but a better person. Will spend more time in quiet time and prayer! Off to make it a great day!

I am so glad I don't have to be around anyone who is always so down. Asking God to give you the patience to deal with her until she leaves on her maternity leave.

Grrr...I can't stand Debbie Downers!!! You go and have a fantastic day, no matter who's donning a piss-poor attitude or not. :)

Just remember how positive you are about life, and obviously how negative she is! How is doing better there?

Deep breathing while you are having your quiet time!

Keep on Sparkin'
