Magnificient Monday

Monday, October 01, 2012

Had such a good time with my kids. Brought Mom home with us after church and our son made omelets for everyone...except Grandma who wanted scrambled eggs. We celebrated hubby's birthday and he opened gifts.

After breakfast we skyped (sp?) my daughter in law in Turkey and got to see the beautiful view out her hotel window. She arrived safe and sound...yet tired. She is there for work - in charge of a big training meeting this week. Oh the places our kids will go.....then we skyped our daughter's boyfriend (probably future son in law) and everyone got to talk and wave. Then we took off for the Mum Festival in town at the park. Grandma has perked up. We bought mums and got Grandma a wrought iron pumpkin with a vine and orange berries on it. Nin walked around well. It's amazing how a little attention gets her up and going. Then we came home and I made dinner. We had a good time and then daughter took grandma home...guessing she slept some last night with all the activity.

Then the four of us played a couple of games of Yahtzee. What a wonderful weekend. It felt like all was right with the world. Been a long time since we just had the two of our kids together under the same roof...all to ourselves. Our son commented how restful and calming it was. They live in a big city and are always on the go. I think we are on the go...but it's more of a laid back atmosphere...and you don't have all the traffic...and it's quieter when I think of it.

Now off to wake up daughter so we can walk this AM. Just feeling so blessed for this time out in life to enjoy our adult children and spend time with them. Grandma has enjoyed herself. Daughter took her shopping Friday and they both had the best time. It warmed my heart to see them together. It reminded me of how I used to be with her. My daughter is becoming more like me.

Daughter is mending some fences with old friends. Interesting...her last boyfriend here she was kinda mean to when she broke up with him....ran into him and they hadn't spoken for 5 years and they talked some and she apologized. He told her he was glad they'd talked and wished her well. She even met up with an old girlfriend from high school and they talked some. Glad she is mending fences. Think it frees her up. Interesting to see how she has changed and how God is molding her into the beautiful lady she is.

Off to work and enjoying the times with my kids. I am so thankful God carved out this time for us.

emoticon What a Beautiful Weekend you had!!

emoticon It is amazing that we can "Skype" with people clear across the world!! With the leaps and bounds that we have made in communication in the past 25 years (remember Mannix's Car Phone on the old TV Series?!) I can't imagine how we will be staying in touch in another 25 Years.

Sunday Evening

Sunday, September 30, 2012

So enjoying time with my kids. Have had both of them home this weekend. That so rarely happens. Just warms my heart and feel as though everything is right! Daughter in law is in Turkey and we talked to her live from her room and we saw her beautiful views outside. Saw and spoke to daughter's boyfriend. Mom has spent a lot of time with us and enjoyed herself. Went to Mum Festival and Mom walked all around and laughed a lot. It has done al of us good to spend time together.

Off to spend more time together. I'm off to work tomorrow and son is spending the day with his sister and then heading home tomorrow night. Have had a wonderful time together.

Off to make more family memories together.

There's nothing like making memories... love the sound of that. I spent yesterday evening worrying about my 13 yr old grandson who has been sick throwing up since Friday and spiked a temp of 106.8. They took him to the hospital gave him tons of antibiotics and motrin and sent him home... Ki says his temp was 99 about 1 am..

Have a great Monday Kathleen.. Donna

Terrific Thursday

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Daughter flying home tonight and gets in around 10:30 if all goes smoothly and she catches her connecting flight in Atlanta. Can't wait to get my arms around her.

Had a good staff meeting yesterday. Boss made me pick something for him to eat...a little nervous...chose a steak and cheese hoagie and steak fries and he said I did good! Said it was a test as he knew it tested me I am a people pleaser and wanted him to make the choice. Figured I couldn't go wrong with steak and cheese for a guy. Three of us ordered from World Cafe and ate veggie wraps and had hummus with pita chips. Really enjoyed my meal and I think it was healthy. Co-worker got a gluten free pizza. Staff meeting was good. Boss was human and talkative and informative. I thought why can't he be more like that normally instead of the way he usually is. Yesterday was the way he was when we first went to work for him. Now days he's kinda a jerk when he's in the office and I'm not liking him. Guess I need to be content and happy I have a job now a days!

Today is hubby's 58th birthday! Planning to celebrate it Sunday afternoon!

Got most things ready, picked up and cleaned up for the weekend and laundry caught up.

Bible study books are in so hope to remember to pick them up when I go with Co-worker to voice lessons tonight!.

Off to make it a great day!

Good morning Kathleen. Sounds like your weekend will be packed with loads of family and lots of love to share as well. I'm so blessed to work at an agency that actually cares about its employees for the most part and very few times have I ever seen a riff between employees or the bosses and I've been here for 22 years. Have a great weekend if I don't catch up with you sooner. emoticon Donna

Wacky Wednesday

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Daughter coming home tomorrow evening! YES! She's coming home for a week. It's her 10 year class reunion and friends wedding, her dad's (my hubby's) birthday...she's just hitting all kinds of events coming home. Will be good to have her home. My daughter in law is traveling to Turkey for work so my son will also come home for the weekend and he's taking Monday off to spend with his sister. I'm planning to work most of the week as I'm about out of time off...two days left...trying to squeeze all I can out of it. Planning to take off a day next week for us to have a girls' day out and go shopping in a little town with antiques and gifts and just have a day to ourselves.

Son surprised us and they had a cancellation last night and wanted to meet up for dinner half way. Had a nice evening with them...ate too much of course but it was good to catch up with them. Their nephew is a freshman and they were going to take him to get a tux for homecoming dance but his girlfriend broke up with him...but he got another date so now they will take him tonight. They are so active in her neices and nephew's lives. Her sister and her husband aren't employeed so it's good that they take such an interest in their lives. I'm glad they are giving to others even when they so desire a little one of their own.

Office having a staff lunch meeting and I'm in charge of picking up lunch for everyone. Three of us are ordering from World Cafe and ordering healthy wraps and hummus...so we'll see how it goes. Co-worker with Celiac and boss are getting food from Fox's Pizza. They offer a gluten free pizza for co-worker.

Been a crazy week and out every night until 10:30 or so...gotta cut that out....but think it's a week for that...as daughter comes in around 10:30 tomorrow night. Planning to take Mom to Curves tonight and get in one workout there this week.

Off to make it a great day!
