WOW Exciting News!

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

My son and daughter in law surprised us with a visit...and the great news that we are going to be grandparents! They are adopting a little girl due to be born November 15. They are so excited after a long process of waiting. They went the fertility route for awhile and that didn't work. What exciting times ahead.... What an awesome gift this birth mother is giving to our families. She is 29 and already has had 2 children and was looking at abortion and went to the clinic but was unsure and she was referred to the adoption agency and they have been working with her for the last 3 months. They got to meet the mother yesterday and she wants them to be at the birth. We even got to see ultrasound pictures .....

That is so exciting! I will be praying for all to go well with the birth and adoption! Being a grandparent is the BEST; it's the reward for surviving the teenage years with your children.

Off to a great week!

Monday, August 20, 2012

The weekend's fly by so quickly. Had two parades on Saturday. Sunday took Mom to church and then out for breakfast. Son and daughter in law came up and we went to a park about 45 mintues away and hiked in the woods on the trail for 90 minutes. Really enjoyed ourselves.. There were lots of people there and we saw some on the trail but it was so peaceful and quiet. Had a lovely day. Being out in nature always calms me and helps me refocuse.

Planning trip to see our best friends over Labor Day Weekend. First helping friends for daughter's outdoor wedding and then heading out of town to visit our friends. Taking a couple of days off for R & R. Hope to get to visit my last remaining Aunt & Uncle who's 90 & 93. Been awhile but they live 10 hours away and hard to get to see them. Will be good to see them.

Daughter booked a trip home Sept 28 for a week. It's her 10 year class reunion. It will be nice to have her home for a short while. Think she is coming by herself.

Woke up at three AM, Read for awhile and figured I might as well get up and start the day. Get an extra jump on the day.

Boss on vacation this may be quiet around the office. Usually slower when kids going back to school. Last minute vacations and school preparation.

Off to make it a great week! Planning to get Mom to Curves today and a couple more times this week. Also planning to walk at lunchtime.

Fabulous Saturday

Saturday, August 18, 2012

Took Mom to Long John Silvers. We opted to eat the family meal as she had a coupon for it. She chose the sides...mac and cheese and mashed potatos...then we sit down and she won't eat them...UGH. I picked her up from work and she was grumbling about everything. I had a long day at work with challenging people and it set me off listening to her grip about how they mow her lawn and don't get every blade of grass off her sidewalk. They are there to Serve her. Don't know why I let her get to me. The crust was too hard on the fish so she ate it with her fingers and wolfed her two pieces down. Of course we had her take the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes home....and she'll eat them there. We took her for a ride through the country and of course she has to sit in the front seat so she can see. I was silently steaming and then mad at myself for getting myself mad. I try never to let my anger out becuase those are the words she will remember and throw back into my face. Then I'm angry at myself for being selfish. She enjoys rides and it relaxes her. Why do I let her rile me up? Just stay calm. I fell like I've had a long week and the last think I want to do is hear her complain about such petty thankful for the lovely place you live instead of picking on the blade or two of grass on your sidewalk. I know she doesn't have a lot to occupy her time and that is her life. I come from a family that doesn't complain and they are a family of complainers. Just drives me nuts....guess that's the difference between a Christian family and a non-Christian family. Then why do I get so angry about it does not do any good to express it...she wouldn't understand or process it right.

Up to leave for parades this AM. Don't really like them but hubby likes me going with him.

Seems like I'm grumbly today.....hmmmm just change my attitude...

Son and daughter in law coming up after church and we're going to do something fun together. Not sure what yet...but we have a couple of ideas....

Off to make it a great day and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Parents tend to get under our skin more and more as they age. It is part of the cross we have to bear in repayment of their putting up with us when we were young. Enjoy the time you have with your mother for it is limited and one day you will wish she was across the table bitching about the over cooker fish.

Much better you should vent to your Spark Friends than confront your mother who might not even realize she is being hard to get along with.

Make today a great day.

Fabulous Friday

Friday, August 17, 2012

Got Mom to Curves twice this week. She seems in better spirits and getting around better. I KNOW exercise is very benificial to her...and to me but I squeeze it in early in the AM to make sure I get it in.

Two parades tomorrow. Going to meet up with son and daughter in law Sunday afternoon. Been awhile since we've seen them.

Doing better staying within calorie range this week...even when I have my moments where I slip up...Helps taking a healthy salad for lunch and packing my lunch with healthy veggies. Purchased a yellow watermelon at the farmer's market and boy is it good and sweet. Never had eaten a yellow mellon before. Also hubby picked up some turnips and they are a nice change of pace.

Off to make it a great day!

I have never had a yellow watermelon. All watermellon's in my area are very expensive this year, Have to find one that I can afford and OD on one of my favorite summer fruits,

Glad both Mom and you get to workout and glad you don't wait for Curves appt. to get it in.

Enjoy your packed lunches. I think that is an excellent idea. In control!

Motivational Blog

Sometimes we limit ourselves and think we can't do....well this lady doesn't settle for her"limitations" but takes her God given talents and excels beyond human expectations. This motivates me to know I can do this...What a gifted talented lady who lets the Lord work through her.
