Magnificent Monday!

Monday, July 09, 2012

Had a good weekend! Got some housecleaning caught up on for family visit this Thursday night through long weekend!

Praise Team went well. Arrived for practise and there was a new piece of music for me to play during communion. Boy times have changed. At one time I would have not been able to play it but we (God and I) did it without too much nerves. Over the years slowly learning when a curve gets thrown at you - you just do your best and let God take care of the outcome. Our Worship Minister wanted me to play the piece softly and it was hard for me...it was the beautiful hymn How Great Thou Art and the song makes me want to get louder...but I held myself back. Music Minister said we would sing it one day and he would let me go with it. He said I played it the way he wanted...and it was appropriate to play it softly and slowly. That song just wants me to shout it out...How Great Thou Art...How Great Thou Art......

Hubby took Mom to grocery after church and breakfast. So I ddn't have to deal with her much this weekend. She was in a difficult mood Friday morning so the break from her has done me good. Hubby took her Friday out to sit and watch the Blue Angels fly over practising their routines for the Air Show. She really enjoyed it. She loves planes and has learned to enjoy flying on them. She gets so excited like a small child with planes. Hubby shares her excitement...so they had a good time together.

Got in a good afternoon nap yesterday and when it cooled we worked in the back yard cleaning up from the storms. Hubby got back yard mowed before he hit a hole and sheared off some pin in the wheel so that ended the mowing. Was stiff and sore from all the yardwork. Took a shower but still had trouble trying to sleep as I ached (and probably the nice afternoon nap). My joints just aren't in a happy place at times right now. Aging isn't always fun! This morning I remembered that I ate the last two Strawberry Doughnuts yesterday. Have been trying to stay away from extra sugar. Really starting to think eating sweets really makes me ache and hurt afterwards. Will try to be careful this week and stay away from sugars and see if I feel better...

Looking forward to time with Stephanie and EJ this weekend. Andy and Kristie are planning to come up sometime during the weekend too! Maybe I can get a picture of the four of them together to post....

Off to the start of a great week!

Can't wait to hear family updates this week, although I can't remember names so much anymore like I used to, but am following what you do.

Love music played at communion. It ministers. Love the holy moments at communion. Hope you will never have to leave your praise team or this important church ministry.

Thinking of re-instating a new sugar free challenge. Will let you know because you know I am a believer.

News is one friend still has electric outages after storms. Thank God for favors granted in our area.

Catch you later!

Cleaning Day

Saturday, July 07, 2012

A day to catch up on cleaning in preparation for daughter and her boyfriend's visit fri-mon....can't wait to see her.

Really hot out today. We heard the airplanes flying over for the Dayton Air Show. Hubby took some pictures of them practising yesterday.. He took Mom out to take a look at them. She really enjoys time with her son.

Back to cleaning....

It is hot here and I certainly didn't accomplish anything. If company were to come out like your having, I would have found the energy to clean. How exciting to have them there with you for a few days. Will you take off of work?

Fabulous Friday

Friday, July 06, 2012

Well here we are at Friday! Work was slower Thursday after the holiday. Have an Air Show Parade tonight. We have a parade tomorrow but I bowed out as the only weekend to get things ready for my kids coming home. Hubby can handle the parade without me.

Less than a week and my daughter will be home. Can hardly wait to get my arms around her. Also son and daughter in law may also come up and stay the weekend. Looking forward to the family time together.

Seem to be struggling with motivation after the knee flare up. They have settled down and now I have to make myself exercise and it used to come so much easier.

Yesterday I was tired after the holiday. How can one day make you so tired? Still feeling draggy today.

Off to make it a great day.

More important to prepare for family coming so that they might know parents as "kewl" rather than sticky. emoticon

July 5

Thursday, July 05, 2012

Had a wonderful July 4th. Was in a July 4th parade. Boy was it hot! Came home and cooked up some green beans and squash. Just never seem to have enough time at night to get it done. Made a fruit salad of strawberries, blueberries, white peaches, apples and rasberries to take to July 4th party. Fruit turned out good. Have left overs for awhile. Quick to pack for lunches. Mom enjoyed herself and enjoyed the fireworks as we drove home.

Back to work for two days and then the weekend.

Power came back on last evening!

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

Went out for dinner and came home and the power was back on. Made me very thankful for all the hard working people working around the clock to restore power. You don't appreciate what you have until you don't have it. Things we take for granted are so appreciated when you don't have them for awhile.

Messed up eating and exercise and tracking. Now to get back on track.

Hubby got to talk with neighbors too! We live next door and never talk to them.

Work was crazy...but our power and internet were working. Had over 34 calls in the morning for claims. We thought the phone would never stop ringing!

Took all the change in stride and calmly. Nothing we can do but move forward.

Showered and dressed at Mom's. She enjoyed being able to help me out and I'm sure she enjoyed the company for an hour.

Today should be calmer and tomorrow off to celebrate July 4th. Heading to my daughter in law's for July 4th celebration! Mom always enjoys time with their family. Trying to think of something to take.....thinking of a fruit tray with healthy choices to nibble on.

Off to make it a great day!

When the power goes out for a few days, one greatly appreciates what previously had been taken for granted. Electricity truly is a blessing! Glad you got your power back on.

One of the best block parties I've been to was during a black out (only 4 hrs, tho). Hope you bounce back easily. Sounds as though your attitude will help A LOT

You are soooo right about appreciation - just goes to show that we all need to watch that tendency to take things (and even people) for granted!

Glad to hear that your power is back!

Glad you had a pleasant surprise when you walked into your house and found power restored.

Although I have rural co-op electric the longest I have been out was 26 hours. It does go out often, but I am grateful too for the small crew we have that work around the clock to restore our outages.

The only thing that I ever worried about was refrig and freezer. Naturally, food spoilage and waste has always been a huge concern of mine being a baby boomer, but raised by parents that actually went through the Great Depression.

I think it is lovely that you seen a bright spot in that neighbors and Mom were chatted with.

Back to normalcy whatever that may bring. God bless, Kathleen.
