C25K Update

Sunday, October 04, 2009

I am so excited, I am almost done C25K. I never thought in a million years that I would ever say that. I did W8D1 yesterday. Okay, I did 25 minutes of a 28 minute run. Let me re-read that----- I did 25 minutes of a 28 minute run. Holy Crap! I couldn't run to the end of my driveway before I started this. This is just what I need to bolster my motivation to reach my goals.
If I can run, I can certainly reach that weight goal!!!!!

Saw your post via the Gamers Fit Team.

First of all, congrats! You should be really proud of making it this far with Cto5k. You probably feel like a million bucks now and I know you'll feel even better when you finish 9-3.

I've done Cto5k twice now and it's amazing how much you can get out of the program.

I'd wish you luck finishing the program but it sounds like you'll make it there on your own!

What an awesome accomplishment. My initial is to run to the end of the block. Thanks for giving me a peak into what it's like on the other side.

Time Marches On

Wednesday, September 02, 2009

A little sad this morning. Going back to my regular job today. Yes, I work in a school. Going back signifies the end of summer. More than that.... it yells out that time does not stand still, and waits for no one.
I am determined to not let any more time go by and see me not make further progress toward a healthier, leaner, pain free, happier me.
I recently started C25k, and am in week 4. I am determined to finish this training, and to keep the momentum going. Exercising has been the part of my program that has either been missing or inconsistent. Following the c25k gives me a schedule. Hmmmm........ I think I just had an AHA moment right there....
I will continue to track, and concentrate on healthy guidelines, and of course drink my water.

I will forge through until I reach my goal. THEN, I will continue my journey on maintenance.

Me? Couch to 5k?

Monday, August 17, 2009

Why not me!

Since about spring time, I've been listening to fellow WW members talking about 3k's and such. What's more, I've been watching them succeed in their weight loss. I can't sit on my but and think that counting points (calories) alone will get me to where I want to be. I need to move more.

So I went to itunes and downloaded free couch to 5k podcasts. I also found another doing a google search which I like better. I am currently in week 2. Who would have thought that I could run for a full 90 seconds. Every time I finish my run for the day, I want to throw up my arms like in the Rocky movie at the top of the stairs. I love the feeling of accomplishment.

I finished W5D2. It was hard. What I found is that I didn't have to push myself as hard as I did in the beginning to keep going.

Recently I read someone's blog about how we as a nation don't push ourselves to know what we are actually capable of doing in almost all aspect of our lives. I have to say I now agree with this line of thought. Just a few short weeks ago, I had a long list of excuses as to why I would not be able to run. I would have told you that there was no way I could even run across my street...... Yesterday I ran 8 minutes... twice.

The hardest part right now is the shoes. I have tried 4 different shoes so far. My feet, I should say toes go numb by the time I finish the 30 minutes. I don't know what the answer is to this..... any ideas????

I finished week 2. I'm am in the middle of week 3. Today was a little tough at first, but I finished strong.
I went last week and bought Nike running shoes. Toes were going numb. I returned them. Went to Dicks and bought a different kind. Their ok. I have a wide , flat foot.
I can't believe I ran today for a straight 3 minutes. Twice.

thank you for the kudos. And the advise. Truly appreciated. I do believe in mind over matter. Yesterday I was so not in the mood. But I knew if I didn't, it would be too easy to NOT. I'm glad I went. It is such a power trip when your finished.

I will keep you posted

Yay! You can do it:) I never, ever thought I could run and here I am - a 52 year old grandmother, who runs 25 to 30 miles a week. On Friday, my daughter and I did nearly 11 miles!

The advice AMACUBA gave you is good!

Keep it up:)

hahahaha...the Rocky reference made me laugh out loud, because I SO HAVE THAT SONG ON MY IPOD!!! I put it on for all those times when I think, "I can't go on!" and then I hear the song and think, "I can do it!" Too funny.

Regarding C25K... I started it in August last year, and thought no way was it going to work for me. But I stuck to it and it did.

A couple of unsolicited tidbits of advice:

1. Pace yourself. If you try to go too fast too soon, you run the risk of burn-out and injury. Endurance is what you're working on, not speed.

2. Don't be stressed about if you can do week 5, day 3. It's a big jump, but the biggest hurdle is the mind. If you don't think you can do it, you will struggle. If you have to walk for a couple of minutes and then continue, that's just fine. Take an extra week and do the run a few more times until you feel comfortable continuing. It's not a race, after all!

I know when I saw W5D3 I felt completely daunted, but I did it, and I felt WONDERFUL afterward, both physically and emotionally. Five weeks from puffing to do 30 seconds, to 20 minutes! Who would have thought??

Good luck--I know you can do it!

You da Boss

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Yo, I need to talk to you
Before you go and mess it up
I gotta call it like I see it
So y’all now listen up

This is your conscience talking
This is your conscience talking
And I know just whatcha feelin’
I know with whatcha dealin’

But you don’t need that piece of pie
Gotta let it go and pass you by
and I’m here to remind you why
‘cause you want to be lookin’ and feelin’ fly

You Da Boss, You Da Boss, yeah
You rate, hey hey, you rate hey hey
You Da Boss, You Da Boss, yeah
You rate, hey hey, you rate hey hey
Say You Da Boss!

This is your willpow’r talking
This is your willpow’r talking
I know that it’s tasty
But hey now don’t be hasty

‘cause you don’t need that cupcake
No, that’d be a mistake
And I know that it’s callin’
But hey now don’t be fallin’

No no, no no no, don’t be fallin…
Cause You Da Boss
No no, no no no, don’t be fallin…
Cause you dat, You Da Boss

You Da Boss, You Da Boss, yeah
You rate, hey hey, you rate hey hey
You Da Boss, You Da Boss, yeah
You rate, hey hey, you rate hey hey
Say You Da Boss!

I’m here to remind you
That you da boss, not da food
Stick that in yo’ attitude
And show that you got fortitude

Say you da boss, not da food
Remember that with gratitude
‘cause It ain’t just some platitude
You da boss, not da food

You Da Boss, You Da Boss, yeah
You rate, hey hey, you rate hey hey
You Da Boss, You Da Boss, yeah
You rate, hey hey, you rate hey hey
Say You Da Boss!
