OKAY!! sorry to have vented yesterday! Just a tiny RANT! The race was a great course with lots-o spectators and fun...
My morning went...
woke up with body aches and a sore throat and a very squeaky, minimal voice. Tried to eat my usual pre race meal but only could choke down a few bites! The drive to Denver was beautiful! In the dark with good friends, but I missed the usual company I 'normally' have. Parked in Denver found my friends, kissed hubbie good bye until mile 6. Got in my corral and felt utterly ill,throat was on fire body aching! Tried not to think or dwell to much on it! Mile one was amazing running through the buildings of DENVER towards a crisp blue mountain range with fresh powder aaaahhhhh! Passed the PEPSI center and thought of all the amazing athletes that play there, passed COORS FIELD and wished I could be watching a baseball game drinking a beer with HUBBIE! Things are going well got in my groove...P O W mile 4 a spectator tried running across and we did the pavement TANGO together! got back up got in my groove again and...5.5 came I HAD TO GO POTTY!! The lines were CRAZY! But I had to GGGOOO!! Finally got in and WHOOLLLYY : ( NO NOT TODAY...NOT A WEEK EARLY!! To embarrassed to ask any one for product...forged on! Mile 6 H U B B I E was there with a cough drop and the sign my kids made YAHOO!! KISSES!! HUBBIE tells me I am 4 min. ahead of my predicted time!! NEW ME! Running was awesome 7, 8, 9 miles yahoo rounded the corner at 9.5....C RA MP!! Saw HUBBIE **k*I*S*S*E*S and my BOOTCAMP BUDDIES handing out GU new burst of energy...10.5.. CR aM p!! There goes the LEFT leg! AAAHHH a short hill, it helped stretch out ther cramp, cramp gone...NNNOOO for every up there is a down...C R aM p!!! Mile 11 yahoo.. got in a groove, mile 12, both legs sieze up, not just the calf but hamstring, this is new...what the frick! HOBBLING! Stopping, stetching, hobbling, stopping, stretching...ppppllleeaaasseee nnnnoooo!!! Round the corner see the finish! Start running again feeling good, hear the cheers the announcers bringing us home...NNNOOOO legs FROZE UP IN CRAMPs... CAN'T MOVE... I am right here, I have to finish...CAN'T make my legs move...feel like puking....NO .NO! NO! MOVE YOUR LEGS.....Finally I cross the finish....WHAT I HAVE TO WALK TO WHERE wholly crap! OKAY ENOUGH! Bottom line, I had a crazy RACE! It was a great course and I recommend everyone coming to it next year it was entertaining, flat, beautiful and well mapped out....
It was me who needed extra mapping out and ...well you get the picture! It was a beautiful day for a race, just not a good day for me! I will be there AGAIN next year....and it will all just be a laughable memory!!
