What a good feeling!

I started logging into Sparks consistently in April. So far, I have lost 42 lbs and am working towards losing a total of 93 lbs.

The other night...I was at the high school football game and it was the first time since the beginning of May since I have seen many of my acquaintances. It was fun walking up to the ticket booth a whole different person. The ticket taker was amazed at how I looked. She kept saying "You look great"..."You look great". Some of my friends that I haven't had a chance to see all summer don't recognize me.

Instead of being obese, I have moved into the overweight category and I hopefully, soon, I will be out of the overweight category and move into the average category.

Sparks has helped me immensely...logging in each day, keeping track of water intake, entering my calories, and exercising daily. It also has given me a new sense of confidence.

I found my smile

SparksPeople and my son have helped me to find my smile again. At the beginning of the year, I weighed in at 238 lbs. I decided to make a conscious effort to lose weight. I started exercising and I tried to start to eat more nutritiously. I struggled, the first few months of the year and only lost about 5-6 lbs.

I had tried SparksPeople a couple of years ago, but I wasn't consistent in logging in and I guess my mind was not in the right place in changing my lifestyle, so I dropped it. In April of this year, I decided that it was time to go back to Sparks. I reactivated my account and I have logged in every day. I enter my nutrition, fitness, and water intake daily. I read the message boards and blogs for extra motivation when I am down. My son has helped me as well. He attends college during the school year, but the last couple of summers he has lived at home. We walk every day and he has even got me to start running intervals during our walk. We have two courses that we have mapped out, one is 3 miles and one is 4 miles. We first started the three mile course, running between electrical poles...to be quite honest, I didn't think that I could do it, I have never been a runner before. I hated running when I was a child. We started out small and we have worked our way up to two electrical poles at a time. Eventually, he would like to see me run the whole 3 mile course.

Between SparksPeople and my son, I have developed some daily habits, which have turned my "losing weight" into some healthy lifestyle changes. I used to hate to drink water....now, I fill my water bottle with a couple of lemon slices and have it with me whenever, I leave the house. I used to sit on the couch and watch TV, now I exercise daily, sometimes twice. I used to laden everything I ate with heavy cream sauces, now I like my food cooked simply, flavored with herbs.

I have a long ways to go...I have lost about 22 lbs, and on my way to 80-90 lbs total, but I have been seeing progress, which then makes me want to be consistent with my changes.

I used to hate having my picture taken, because most of the time...my smile didn't have any definition. My eyes didn't sparkle, and you could barely see my dimples. The other day, I went to see my Grandma who is 92 years old. I didn't have a recent picture taken with my Grandma, so I had one taken when we went to see her. Although, the picture is more about my Grandma then myself, I discovered in that picture that I have found my smile again. emoticon
