Week 9: 4 lbs & 4 inches

Monday, September 28, 2009

Woo-hoo! I think what I am seeing today is not all from this week, but partly due to being on a different scale last week in California on weigh in day. This is the least I have weighed in about 1.5 years so it feels really good (and maybe a little unbelievable) to see those numbers on the scale. I REALLY want to get under 250 so my plan is to step it up and get moving this month. Goal is to be 249 before my birthday on October 31st! I think I can do it!

2 Month Sparkversary: What I have learned so far...

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Today marks my 2 month Sparkversary! I am ecstatic to still feel so connected to the site and be making such progress. The following review of achievements and lessons learned is primarily for me to reflect on but I welcome feedback as well.

Achievements:
* 27 lbs in 2 months (gone, and not coming back)
* 63 days of exercise...every day...no exceptions, no excuses
* Increased exercise tolerance (20 minutes on the stair stepper, faster mile, even ran on the treadmill for 2 minutes recently)
* Improved resting heart rate (was 75-80, is now 60)
* Smaller scrubs at work
* Smaller pants (into a 20 now, looking forward to the teens)
* Active involvement in the site, and would like to think I have helped inspire, motivate, or support others

Lessons Learned:
* The first two weeks are REALLY hard, but it gets better, and easier
* I can lose weight if I focus, stick to it and stop whining
* Doing this with my husband makes all the difference in the world
* Sparkbuddies with similar experiences help me feel comraderie and comfort
* I have less headaches now that I am eating healthier & drinking more water
* Journalling daily helps me maintain focus on goals
* Short term goals are more important than long term goals
* Inches are more important than lbs
* I can do this

I am proud of where I have gotten in the past two months and look forward to the next step of the journey!

    Happy Sparkversary. That's quite an impressive length of accomplishments. I am still in awe of your exercise streak. 63 days and not missing one! And congrats on getting into your size 20s. You and I could share clothes LOL. I am also looking forward to the teens!

    Holly - You are really doing great! I love your list of achievements and lessons. Wow - 27 pounds gone in only 2 months! That's great! I know what you mean by saying that Spark buddies help you feel camaraderie and comfort. And - for sure you are giving back as much as you receive. You are definitely motivating to others and you also are giving a lot of positive feedback and encouragement to others (I count myself as one who has received some great encouragement and "spark" from you). Congrats on the smaller sizes too. So here's to the next 2 months of success to you! emoticon

    Holly - You are doing a great job and yes, you are very motivating to others. I know this from first hand experience. I love this list you've done, and I will do one for my 2 year Sparkiversary, coming up in less than 2 weeks. I will say without a doubt that being here has kept me healthier.

I have only lost 10 - 12 pounds right now, but that's better than gaining, which I know I would have done without this site.

Keep going and I am going to love watching you go down through the towns. I hope to meet you in 250-ville soon.

Week 8: 1lb & 2 inches

Monday, September 21, 2009

I am going to post the 1lb weight loss, but I think it is probably more. Since we are in California on vacation I have to rely on my friend's scale. I did take my measurements though and finally saw some decrease in the hips (yay!)-must be all of the walking we are doing out here this week. Today we are going to venture out and see some tide pools and go see the elephant seals along the coast. Curious to see what the scale will show later this week when we get home. At least everything is still moving in the right direction, albeit slowly.

The Channel Islands

Friday, September 18, 2009

Ron and I have been hiking in the Channel Islands National Park for the past few days so I have been a little lax in keeping up with Spark due to lack of Internet, but have beendoing pretty good staying on track.. Except a little accidental icecream (moose tracks)..We have hiked every day and unfortunately I have the bruises to prove it! My best friend's wedding is tomorrow so I will have the chance to put my hiking boots away and put on a purple dress. Pics when we return

    You've had some great weather. I'm glad you're having fun. Are you camping? There's no hotel out there, I don't think.

Week 7: 0.5lbs & 1.75 inches

Monday, September 14, 2009

Well here we are at official weigh in day on week 7. I am ecstatic to pull off any loss at all this week after 6 lbs last week and feeling bloated today. Inches are down and my clothes are looser, so I am satisfied. Hoping to have a solid loss next week when we are on vacation, but I will be at the mercy of a foreign scale because I am NOT taking the scale on vacation!
