Circuit Training & H.I.T

Thursday, May 29, 2014

I feel really good today. Do you want to know why?

Today makes the end of 4 weeks of circuit training (Mon-Thurs) & I have been doing between 35-50 minutes per session.
All DVDs (I'm training at home) are Jillian Michaels, & she rocks.

I rock.

I'm rocking.

Next step: find time on weekend to make a full 5 days per week. OR make sure to walk/bike ride /Something.

Anyhow, hello my friends & all Sparkpeople. Spark on!

Happy 2014~!

Saturday, January 18, 2014

Dear Sparkfriends,

I know I have not been a good Sparkfriend, I tend to just put in my tracked foods/exercise into the tracker on my mobile phone,
& then don't think to check in on my computer for some actual interaction (& motivation).

Which, really- that's a huge part of Spark. Maybe why I keep spinning my wheels these days?

A couple months ago, our scale broke (really!) I'd thought it was erratic, but then you'd step on it & the numbers would fly up to 500+, new batteries didn't help~
& we are on a new budget thing where we don't use credit cards for ANYTHING & on strict food/gas budget-
so do I really want to spend $20 + on a new scale?
Not really.

& the scale would hurt my feelings & progress more often than not-
I'd be eating well & exercising regularly , so excited to step on the scale & @&%@!

But, now- I have no excuse.
I'm not exercising, & really have not been eating well.

Or, really- I eat well all day, until night time when I have been eating a bunch of junk & drinking way too much wine.

Then, two days ago I got a stomach bug.

So, I haven't been eating much At All- & one thing is I still don't want to drink wine & the thought of eating fatty potato chips makes me ill.

So, it's kind of a silver lining- though I would not wish this feeling on anyone.
& I know it won't last, so I'm hoping my new mindset does.

I have 7 weeks to lose 10 pounds, so I can fit in my jeans again for SXSW festival.I can only fit into one pair of old 'Mom Jeans' , & it's not a good look.

I went shopping yesterday with no appetite, but I do anticipate getting one- & got all whole foods, no bags of chips.
I went through the flyer to find the sales on tons of fruit ~ & one indulgence- my beloved aged Gouda , which you know you only need a 1/2 ounce sliver to be really satisfied.
Oh, & an apple to go with it & it's heaven.

I hope you are well, & on track- I'm going to look around Spark & find folks who are sticking with the program & keeping their weight off.

Good luck in this bright & beautiful new year!
Love,
Spooky

I can relate. My scale works but I ignore my scale too much. And the potato chips know me by name. I love gouda cheese - it is one of my favorites. To die for!! Food of the gods!

Today my friend couldn't make our walk ~ so, I walked alone!

It's nice to have a walk buddy, but ultimately, it's up to ME & I am the one who wants to get into 'that dress', & not quake in fear when I get an email saying someone has tagged me on Facebook.

I put on my hat (it was cold!) & put in my earbuds- I have a playlist called Move! & so I did.

If you have an iPhone I highly recommend an ap called RunKeeper- it uses GPS to show you how fast you are walking (or running, hiking ect)
shows you your route & calories burned.
I love it.

I have a secret talent which is out of the corner of my eye I find 4 leaf clovers~
& I found 2 today.

Hope they bring you luck!

Cool!! My hubby finds 4 leaf clovers too. I've never been good at it.

I used to walk alone too when I could not get someone to go with me. Now my hubby is forced to go. LOL.

The Reckoning- what am I doing?

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

It's ok, & just part of my fitness journey-

but I fell off the fitness track- although I've been pretty good about tracking meals & staying within my limit (albeit at the top of my caloric intake)
& not eating junk,
I am still at a plateau- the same one I've been on for over a year & a half.

Someone asked me, so what changed?
& I have to say- the gym.

I did not think the gym was that important, because I was walking so much, but I just do not do the strength training I need to do at home.
& my mornings have become very lazy & undisciplined.

I am SUPER lucky to have Mon-Thus mornings free, so why am I squandering them in bed playing around on my iphone?

Good question.

So, anyhow- this morning I walked 2.22 miles with my old friend Bonnie- we both have around 15 lbs to lose, & we live in the same neighborhood.
If I cut 200 calories off my caloric intake, & walk 3 x a week- we should be at goal in 3 months.

I have 5 months to hit my goal- I was picked to play SXSW in March.
I do NOT want to be fat just in case Rolling Stone takes my picture ;-)

I am super & highly motivated.

You make things sounds so simple. LOL. I wish I had your resolve. I try all of this stuff and seem to never get anywhere. But I guess it's healthy at least. I am back to getting my 5 miles in most days, even with my bum knee. I could be eating better but I am at least eating better than I was. Good luck with your goal, GF!!!!

WOW! SXSW -- that is awesome news! Congratulations:) And that isn't motivation, nothing is. Good luck in your quest, and your music will be beautiful in any case. Enjoy the moment.
Hugs,
Deirdre

Well, you have a plan and you are motivated. Can't see any reason why you won't make this happen.

McDonald's comes through!

Monday, August 19, 2013

*disclaimer- this is about fast food, so if you are not into that, see you another time!

So, I guess 50 % of my blogs are turning into fast food reviews, I guess I will have to come up with a Spooky the Cat ranking system- using witch's hats & paws or something.

Today I drove to the other side of our tiny state (RI) to pick up a Cuisanart food processor for my now Grown Daughter, who would like to make some of her old mom's favorites in her new apt.

I really rely on my Cuisanart, which I've had from before she was born- so when one showed up cheap & barely ever used on Craigslist, I had to get it.

I went before work, so breakfast was on the road-

I thought I'd try McDonald's since Dunkin Donuts is what I usually get & I have been unimpressed lately~

Now, any good Sparker knows it's smart to research & track BEFORE you order- but I did nor have that option.
But I saw Egg White & McMuffin & knew I was headed in the right direction.

McDonalsd's Egg White Delight was truly delightful.
The egg was REAL- tasted & looked real.

It was
250 Calories
18g Protein
7g Fat (11%)
32g Carbs (11%)
800mg Sodium (34%)

I am not woried about sodium, so not sure if that makes it off limits for some- but I will go back for sure.

VERY Good

Now, those are probably Pilgrim hats , now that I look again- but use your imagination ;-)

My hat always flops over and ends up looking like a pilgrim hat anyway. Glad you were able to find domething on the road that worked for you. emoticon

My son recently moved out too and is renting his first place - a house.

I want to try the new Egg White McMuffin too. I know I would like it if I can handle the English Muffin. I hope it is a light English muffin but don't really know how many carbs are in a regular English muffin.
