BL Challenge Wk 4

Monday, January 30, 2012

Naughty, Naughty! And not in a good way! 4 of 7 days last week I ate junk. Actually the 5th day wasn’t all that great either. The only reason my weigh in this week isn’t horrendous is because I buckled way down over the weekend to try and salvage my week. I can’t seem to get past the hump of 260. I’ve been wavering in this area for about a month now. I pretty much wasted the whole month of January and I’m a little annoyed with myself!
Just to remind myself that all is not lost though.....Last week a coworker told me he had really noticed how much weight I have lost. I can’t remember what his actual words were – but they made me smile! It was a little surprising because he’s one of those guys that’s kind of a tough guy that you would never expect to notice – let alone say something about it. It was very sweet!

Alrighty, weigh in time:

Start: 263.2
Week 2: ?
Week 3: 262.2
Week 4: 262.4

So considering I ate like a cow last week (and since I love cows with their big brown eyes, I apologize for insulting little heifers everywhere …) I’m pretty happy that I didn’t gain 5 lbs. I’m really determined to get under that 260 this week! I can do it darn it!!!

What is it about you that makes me wanna hug you? Perhaps as I read your blogs it seems to be what I think? Or could be your humorous undertones? But most likely You are a dog lover!! Yes sweetie, you can do this. I was soooo big, seriously big & I did it. The secret is to believe you can!

Are you also measuring yourself? Losing inches also help give you a boost when the scale isn't cooperating. People see inches, not a scale number. Have you seen cows' legs? You see muscle definition. So yes, let's become strong like bull. You can do this!

Never fun to feel like you've missed the mark and yet be so close! I know you can do it, and I believe you will do it this week!!

Hang in there and reflect on the level of stress you might be feeling right now. What led to the snacking on junk food?

I find dismantling it, helps!

    You *can* do it. :-)

I can't wait for people to notice that I'm losing weight. Jenny (my trainer) says she can see it, but I think she's trying to encourage me.

My husband made a Thai red curry soup this week that may have done me in! It's addictive, and I can't stop eating it -- and the calories are out of this world. Aaarghhh!

Winter Smack Down

Monday, January 23, 2012

A lot of us have gotten the smack down by the snow gods this last week. Being from the Inland Northwest I’m pretty much used to that by this point in my life. However….when the street department waits to do the plowing and then two days later plows my street and puts a 4 FOOT ice berm in front of my driveway….I get a teensy bit cranky!! So Sunday afternoon I go out with my pretty yellow snow shovel and can’t get even one shovel full it’s so icy. Ooooom….caaaallllmmm…..uh oh....that's not working. So I stomp over to my trusty Honda Element and call my dog Luke who is playing in the front yard. We get in, I put it in reverse, get going a bit and WHAM! Slam into the berm. (Luke is probably regretting that he wanted to go for a ride now.) Forward a bit…reverse…WHAM! Had a little road rage in my driveway!
emoticon emoticon
I actually did knock down the top ice berg. So then I go get my steel shovel from the garage, and pick, pick, pick, back in the car, wham, wham, pick, pick, pick….finally…Success!! And no dents in the Honda either!
Love my car!
That was the extent of my excitement for the weekend. I did eat really well all weekend, ending with a lovely salmon and roasted brussel sprout dinner yesterday after the driveway trauma. I’ve been kind of stagnating in the weight loss area for a couple of weeks but that’s the way it goes sometimes for me. Here is my latest weigh in for the Biggest Loser Challenge.

Start: 263.2
I didn’t do a blog last week for various reasons but the weigh in was right in the same area anyway.
This week: 262.2

Have a good week sparkers! Don't let the snow push you over the edge!!!

Snow would be awesome if it would just stay off the roads and sidewalks. Heck, I wouldn't even mind ice if it followed those same rules.

Oh, man...sorry to laugh but you gave me quite a visual there, with the dog probably slamming it's poor chin into the dashboard.

Hate those "ice berms" (well put!) We had a ton of that last winter, living in our little downtown rental (on a main road). Now we're in this condo and couldn't wait for snow and all we've had all winter is an inch here or there. Today it's almost 50! Unheard of for these parts!!

Go figure!

You must live at the end of your street because my road workers to the same thing. I HATE it when they push the ice & snow right in front of my drive way. I get so mad! And I get nasty notes from the mail carrier that it is my job to keep a clear path for them to pull up to my mailbox.

PS: A one pound loss in 2 weeks is not stagnant. GREAT JOB!

I don't mind snow, what I do mind is the ice. WTG on removing the huge iceberg and for not having any dents. I was new to ice a few years ago and the poor Honda Accord has so many scratches from me learning how to live in the Northeast.
Congrats on the clean eating after the snow dilemma. Hey, you lost a lb so far, so you are progressing on the challenge. Hope you continue rocking it!

Biggest Loser Challenge

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

So I've decided on my new year's goal. I’m joining my Biggest Loser Team in the BL Challenge for season 13. We pick our own weight or other goals and then try to achieve them by the end of the season. Technically we’re not sure exactly when that is ….but we think May. I will report in to the team and also continue my weekly blog. I found that having to report my weekly weigh-in to the spark universe really helped with accountability, so I’m going to continue that. I have a little pre-BL goal, I would like to lose 20 lbs by April 20th, which is my Lewiston dog show. Then, for the BL challenge another 3.2 if the show ends some time in May which will put me at an even 240. So technically my goal is 23.2.

Starting weight: 263.2 Goal: 240

In other news….I just got back to work after a 4 day weekend and although it’s dragging a bit I can’t really complain because I’m only working 2 days and then off for another 4! January is fun!! I try to remember that when the months with no holidays come around. Hope you all are enjoying your 2012 so far too!!

Happy New Year! I had a nice quiet 4 day weekend at home. Still in hibernation mode big-time, but A-okay anyway. I didn’t make my year end goal of losing 20 lbs by Dec 31st, however, I did lose 17 lbs so I’m still pretty happy about progressing. The going is slow but it’s going.

Initial weigh in: 280.4
Year End: 263.0

Total for 2011: 47lbs

I am pondering what to choose for my next challenge date and weight goal. I think I’m going to go for either my first or second dog show of 2012 (both in April)….or maybe both. The first is a small show where I probably won’t see a lot of my friends so that one will be for me. I want to get out there with Eliot and run like the dickens!! The second is where I’ll probably see everyone I know so I want them all to be able to tell how hard I’ve been working since the last time they saw me! I’ll start reporting soon – as soon as I decide when I want my official weigh-in to be.

In other news….we have a new Mayor to go with the new year which always makes all employees very tense. New mayors like to make big changes, the biggest being to lay people off. I’ve already heard that 3 of the higher ups got the chop, and supposedly we are going to hear later today what other changes he is going to make. Not really looking forward to that. However, I do have a 4 day weekend coming up! Hopefully, I will still be employed so I can fully enjoy it!!

I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve and Day and start the new year out the way you plan to finish it – Happier and Healthier!

Wow, you were right, by THAT close! 17lbs is a big number so congrats on the weight loss! But your weight loss was always jumpy so I'm sure that your next weigh in will fall above the 20 lbs. Oh no, I hope the Mayor doesn't give you the chop. The only thing worth chopping is more lbs, not your job. I hope you get to enjoy the upcoming weekend in peace. Woo Hoo to you and Woo Hoo to Eliot! 3 lbs? Knowing how strange the scale treats you, I wouldn't be suprised if it really was 20 lbs.
17 lbs or 20 bls... emoticon I like to think about picking up something that weighs 17 lbs & how heavy it is. You've done great! Keep up the good work.

One More Week!

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

Where to start…where to start… Christmas day! Breakfast with Mom and youngest brother since we are all the single ones. IHOP! It was yummy and nice to catch up with my little bro (who had spent the previous day in Seattle at the Seahawks game! The bum!) Later in the day was dinner with the whole family. I have 2 brothers and a sister and 4 nieces. Young, loud nieces…sigh….but I try to be tolerant and not the cranky ol’ Auntie! Lol! We also watched Home Alone 1 and 2. Which I found to be a little torturous but the rest of the fam seemed to enjoy.
I tried to be good on my food since I had breakfasted at the ihop, and I think I pretty much succeeded. I haven’t had the best week ever, food wise, but it wasn’t too bad either. I now have 1 week to still get my goal. Normal people probably say I shouldn’t shoot for 3.5 lbs in one week but for me it’s not that unusual. For example, earlier this week I weighed 4 pounds more than my weigh in this morning. I stepped on the scale and a momentary wig out. But then I remembered - I fluctuate like crazy. Sometimes it makes it tough to figure out what the heck's going on, but for the most part I’m heading in the right direction so I don’t stress about it too much. Anyway, I’m still shooting for my end of year goal!
I’m not really a new years resolution kind of person so I’m not sure what I’m doing come January, but I will set a new goal to shoot for at the beginning of the year. After I have my pizza reward for making the current goal of course! Here’s this weeks weigh in:

Start: 280.4
week 1: 278.4
week 2: 278.6
week 3: 279.8
Week 4: 277.2
Week 5: 275.8
Week 6: 280.8
Week 7: 273.8
Week 8: 274.0
Week 9: 275.2
Week 10. 270.2
Week 11: 267.6
Week 12: 263.2
Week 13: 264.2
Week 14: 263.6

Have a spectacular New Year everyone!! I hope you all get the new years kiss you want! Mine will be from 3 furry gentlemen named Luke, Zeke and Eliot!!
