She’s Finally Here!!!!! There’s a new puppy in the Splashdog house and her name is Violet Rose. And here she is…..
Violet is a black and tan English Cocker Spaniel. They average about 30 pounds – so a small dog but not a toy dog. She's 11 weeks old today. I took a couple weeks off of work to bond and get situated and started on potty training. It was really nice, but I’m back to work today. I’m having a little bit of separation anxiety! I do have my mom going to my house to make a mid-day potty break visit, so we’ll see how that goes. My dogs are kind of a handful so my tummy is churning a bit in the hopes that she doesn’t have any problems. I thought about doing doggy daycare with her, but I’m not sure how that would help the potty training situation. It might make things harder than they already are. We’ll see how it goes! Here are a couple more pics….(santa is at the bottom if you want to skip all my yapping)
Keeping those ears clean when she eats messy stuff.
Snuggles with brother!
The look in her eye scares me just a little! She's a sweety with a bit of a naughty streak for sure!
In other news….I lost about 6 pounds on my vacation, which was nice. I feel like I say this all the time but…I REALLY need to buckle down and lose some weight. I’ve just got to. I fell in the back yard on Sunday and had a really hard time getting up again. I just thought to myself, “This is just ridiculous, you need to get your (bleep) together. This is no way to live.” What if I fell somewhere where I didn’t have the back porch steps to help me get up again? I have all kinds of scary thoughts running around in my head. Anyway!! I’m going to try setting some new goals and now that work has slowed down some, hopefully I can check in with my spark friends more often and use some of the spark tools to help me get motivated and moving. New plans! No more downer stuff - let's get back to the happy!
I tried a couple of new recipes over my vacation. There was a tri-tip which I think I used way to much oregano in the rub so the inside was good but not the outside. There were honey-garlic chicken thighs. Those were okay. The sauce was pretty good but they didn’t crisp up in the oven like I hoped. That could have been operator error also. And then there was a parmesan chicken breast that turned out pretty good and was even better in leftovers.
Okay I will leave you with our yearly doggy Christmas pic – and yay! We got the happy Santa this year!!
I do have one where Eliot looks a little happier with his tongue hanging out, but a friend pointed out that it kind of made it look like santa was choking him. Which was not the case - We got the good Santa that actually likes dogs this year!!
Happy December everyone!

I need to have a little venting session because this day has just been the most craptastic day I’ve had in quite some time!! So here’s the sitch….
A gal from another department called and was angry at me that I referred someone to her when she thought I should have taken care of it myself. I disagreed, but okay whatever. BUT she was so nasty and sarcastic and just plain mean it shocked me! I get a lot of nastiness from citizens because of the nature of my job but to get it from a fellow employee….I was just shocked stupid! Not only did she say completely inaccurate things, she proceeded to tell me what our department does (she has never worked for this department – I don’t even know what she looks like) and then argued about what was or wasn’t on our website. (I was looking right at it!) And the piece de resistance? She then hung up on me.
So I am thankful that I never lost my cool and was actually exceedingly polite to her the whole time and eventually referred her to my supervisor. I then had a short conversation with my supervisor about what happened. Unfortunately by this time it all caught up to me and my face started turning red, my hands were shaking and I knew I was going to burst into tears at any moment.
So I took a strategic lunch break, had a mini sniffle in the bathroom and then walked over to the park in the rain and watched the ducks and geese. A nice 20 minute walk later and I was back to normal. Mostly. So that was it! I know I shouldn’t let people like that get to me but, wow, sometimes that’s easier said than done.
As for other non-craptastic life type catching up … I also took the stairs 3 times today for a total of 5 flights - Yay me! I took my Springer Eliot to the duck pond last Saturday where we walked and I looked at the ducks and my springer spaniel , hunting dog extraordinaire, completely ignored them. Okay neither of us has ever hunted a day in our lives, but you’d think he’d at least be a little interested! Nope. It was a beautiful day though and a nice walk. I’m just now noticing a duckie theme…..I do especially love the geese.
I am also going to Easter breakfast with my Mom, my sis, both my brothers and all their kids on Sunday. Lookout IHOP here we come!
So that’s my spring update. Still crazy busy at work and getting busier now that spring is here. Nice catching up with you all though!

Yes, it was time for the annual $2 Santa picture! Here are two of my three little (or not so little) elves. The third is the one that doesn’t get along so he had to stay home.
We also did a group shot all of us that came at that time and our dogs. Since my aussie was being a stinker with some of the other dogs he waited in the car for me and Eliot. This was the twelfth shot and all things considered it’s not too bad!
So we have me in the back holding Eliot, then from left to right:
Daisy (shepherd) held by Celeste, Zoey (bulldog mix), Shortie (corgi) and Sierra, behind Sierra you can’t see Dulcie being held by Santa. She’s an all black mix, 13 years old, a complete sweetie and probably could give a hoot about any of it anyway….so then we have Satchel (English setter) looking like he’s in heaven in his mama Victoria’s arms, Fergus (the shihtzu/Ewok mix), Petra the black lab mix and Diane who actually belonged to Zoey the bulldog but was helping Victoria with her 4 (Dulcie, Satchel, Fergus & Petra) Got it?!
Eliot was a completely insane devil-dog, bouncing off the walls and off of me and ONTO the table that was set up for people waiting. Just BOING and he was on the table….twice. And here I am apologizing because my dog has absolutely no manners and yet trying not to either laugh or possibly scream. It was an exciting morning!
In other news, Thanksgiving was nice. Kind of the same ol’ same ol’ but still that’s nice. I don’t see everyone as often as I should so it’s good to touch base.
In diet/health news, I have managed to stop the upward climb but haven’t managed to really make any downward progress. I’m working on it while trying to stay upbeat about the whole situation.
I tried a new taste adventure last week and bought some salt and brown sugar Seaweed. Only 25 calories a serving. I wondering if that’s because after tasting it you immediately hork it back up? WOW was it bad! After taking one taste I immediately went around the office to get other people to taste it thinking I should not suffer that aftertaste alone. (think about just chomping down on a fish capsule instead of swallowing it). Then I felt guilty about the nasty taste test and passed out mints. Actually it was kind of fun because we all had a good laugh. If you are one of those that likes the seaweed chips more power to ya – but I will passing on those from now on.
Oh and last night as I was walking back to my car I took a tumble in the parking lot. It twisted and scraped up my knee which is slightly messed up this morning, and generally made my poor body really sore today. Oh and it made me feel like a doofus. Other than that all is good!!
So there you go! All updated on my life! Work is still crazy crazy but I’ll save that for the next update – Happy Holidays everyone!!

So I have not been around Spark for a little. There is actually a semi-good reason. My co-worker, who is the only other person in the office that does what I do, quit! Got in a big hubbub with the boss and said "I can't take this place anymore!"
And while she is still my friend and I support her, (I won't go into what its like around here, but let's just say stresssss) it kind of left me holding the bag. I'm now doing her job and my job. That's right....two jobs for the price of one!!
(no I don't know these two - just grabbed them off the internet - thanks to their parents whoever they may be!)
Anyway, I have to squeek out time just to check my emails, so sparking has been put on the back burner. So I really haven't been ignoring my spark people, I'm just going, going, going, all day long trying to fit everything in a day. A little stressful, completely exhausting and buckets o' crazy around here! Luckily I found a little time to let you all know what has been happening. On the up side my boss and co-workers are suddenly appreciating me a whole lot more than they used to!!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

The stress-o-meter has been pegged lately. It’s pretty much the job, which isn’t difficult, but it’s a stressful environment. Mainly very cranky customers and continual threats of layoffs. So I took a 4 day weekend to de-stress. And it actually was really nice. I had every intention of cleaning out my garage during this long weekend, however, when I got out there I realized that it was going to take a lot more time and effort than I was willing to put into on my de-stressor weekend. So that is still on the to-do list. My de-stressing includes lots of reading, a quiet house and occasional puppy cuddles.
I rented two movies this last weekend – the latest of the Die Hard movies, …maybe It’s a Good Day to Die Hard? I was a bit disappointed. I love the Die Hards and I have to say it’s not one of my fav’s. I also watched The Avengers. Which was good. You have to be a fan of the superhero movies though. And it would be really good if you had seen them all before you watched this one. The only one I hadn’t seen was the Hulk and I found that didn’t affect my enjoyment of the movie. I’m hoping to go see Red2 this weekend. Red (the original was really fun, loved it). We’ll see if that happens. By the way, does anyone watch Bear Grylls new show on NBC? I believe it’s called Get Out Alive. Love it! Love him! A reality show where people get voted off based on their level of effort, how well they pay attention, how they contribute and their teamwork instead of backstabbing and alliances and popularity and the American publics idiotic voting habits!! Way to go Bear!!
In the matter of all things spark – I’m still doing my exercises...
…okay they’re a little bit sporadic but I’m still doing them. (squats, ham string/lower back exercise and wall pushups) And I’m doing better on my eating. I haven’t tried a new recipe in a couple weeks though and that was on my goal list too. I will make sure I get one picked out and on the shopping list for next payday.
Here is my check in:
Week 2: 304.
Week 4 Today: 301.8
I know, I know, not exactly blazing any trails but I’m still feeling okay about the changes I have made. Hope you all are enjoying your summer!!
