So i have made 0 progress so far this month. I am frustrated plateaus scare me and i am not 100% sure how to fight it. I know i have to change things up. But what and how much...Rrrrr i didnt want to hit a plateau this soon.... I am trying not to get lost.. Or give up. I need to save my life and i know that, i need to be smaller to do that.
Plan- Up frequency of exercise
-Log everything i eat

Anyone else have an ideas how to bust out of a plateau? Cause i am sure as heck not happy staying here.

Add ST to your routine, if you don't already have a regime. Turn up the cardio by 10. Reduce the calories by 100 a day. Just mix things up. Don't change them every day. Find an idea, run with it for at least a week, and see how you are doing.

If you really want to bust through, eliminate sugar! It's hard, but it works!
Just whatever you do, don't give up!! emoticon

PS - an old quote that came into mind after I posted (may not be written exactly right):

Life is hard by the yard, but a cinch by the inch!

Hello - Here's a personal experience that you may be able to take something from.

I've been working with a Registered Nutritionist since earlier this year. I plateaued for nearly 3 months before joining SP and I can hear her words to me that I needed to MOVE MORE, MOVE MORE, MOVE MORE. Not easy with health issues I won't go into that prevent me from many 'regular' exercises.

Now that I've started using a Gazelle that I bought used from CraigsList, I am moving more and so are the pounds. Also, I have ordered a 'Peddler' as talked about in an INDYGIRL blog. Blessed to have good treadmill and Scwhinn stationary bike at home, BUT unable to use these at this point.

My Nutritionist was glad to learn of my joining SP. The Nutrition Tracker has enabled me to provide her with information for constructive feedback from her, for example, I had already gotten into my calorie range earlier this year BUT the balance of Carbs/Proteins/Fats was way out of kilter. Work in progress.

She encouraged me to set small, achievable goals that are attainable and not worry about the big number at the end of my goal line. SP reinforces this. A football analogy works here. A team is concentrating on that 10-yard gain with the goal post in mind, but not at the forefront.

I was on a plateau for 2 months. I did the things you did such as journaling and changed my exercise. Just keep on doing the things like you are now. Do you ever have days where you get off track? Maybe there are too many of those days. Good luck to you, just NEVER give up.

surprise to blog...

Monday, November 05, 2012

My phone is particular and wont always let me blog... So i am surprise it did today. i have not weighed almost 2 weeks and am nervous. I almost always eat fairly well and was able to add extra exercise last week, but because i knew i didnt have to weigh on i gave in a bit to fastfood. I know i know silly girl. Now i am panicking because i made a goal if 14 pounds by Christmas and having my first no gain month in November. What if i messed that up... I know from past experience that i can give in a bit amd still lode... When i eat 100% clean i gain heaven knows why! So did i step up my exercise for the next 3 days and just hope to break even? Ohhh geez why do i do this to myself....Rrrrrrr guess i should move alittle more or the next couple days to make things up a bit. But i have been several weeks without Pop and i dont even miss it now. I can go into a store and not buy it. And most chocolate just tastes gross. Tried a doughnut after bout a month of not having one- gd news it tasted gross... Thank gid. I can cross so many things of my temptation list now... Feels pretty good. Wish fastfood was that easy to stay away from. I am learning Preparaion is key... FOCUS for this month ois to have food preped to take w me so the drive thru is not a tempation while out!
Have to get control to meet all the goals i have set. I want to be a totally different person in my dress at my Best Friends Wedding next Year..... Move and Prove...LET'S DO THIS!

Hey there :) I hear ya on the preparation issue. Some tricks I've learned is to always have some kind of protein bar or pre-packaged shake somewhere near by (glove compartment, backpack etc.) for emergencies. I also have taken to the (not terribly environmentally friendly) practice of getting disposable containers at food service stores and making large batches of soup / veggies / stir fry etc. to set myself up for quick grab-n-go meals every day- and when I'm done, I just toss the container so I don't have to worry about transporting / washing them.

Because of our humanity, we are prone to slip-ups- just think of them as opportunities to learn what does / doesn't work :)

good luck :D

you are doing awesome it is good that bad foods taste bad now. change takes time. I used to treat myself to fast food on way home from grocery store. Now I buy myself a single piece of salmon , and some power greens at grocery store. the salmon goes in a pan atlow with lid while I put away the groceries, the power greens are cooked like spinach two minutes steamed with olive oil and garlic. The rest of the family eats garbage what ever evil they want. i love fridays now. preparation is the key. emoticon

emoticon on keeping your eyes on your goals.
emoticon if you keep those goals insight every day.
emoticon oh the games we play with ourselves to see what we can get away with without it showing on the scale. Really who are we fooling.
I'm sure at the end of the month you'll have several emoticon icons on your goal list for the month.
All the best.

gym....

Sunday, November 04, 2012

Absolutely love going to the gym. Love taking the classes and my weight loss has increased since i started. I am super motivated to get to my goal by my Best Friends wedding...Sept 21, 2013. The goal is 210-200 by then. I continously drop about 2 pounds a week so i need to push alittle to get to 10 pounds a mth which will put me at goal. My family has been very supportive and love to hear my updates... I have never lost this much weight in all the other times i have tried so i am very proud of myself. I love to see the changes in my body as the weight comes off... And the Non Scale Changes keep me pushing for more.... Lastly the support i receive on Sparks is awesome... Thanks to all of you you help me everyday to push for more... :-)

going down

Thursday, October 18, 2012

With hard work and many self talks and no Carrie u don't need that i am down a good chunk this week 2.5 pounds. Keeps me towards my goal. I have to set a weight goal for 8 wks... What should it be? Something attainable.... Hmmmm thinking 15 pounds.....or is 12 more conservative? Do i want to be conservative or do i want to push? For myself i want the push...but to save embarrasment if i dont make it should i go 12..... Or dear i make up my mind... My aim is to lose 100 pounds in 12 months..my Best friend gets married then that would put me close to goal. Its all about making good on the goals.....My solution......

Make the next 12mths
The year of you
Its time to Bring It
Do your best then better it
WHATEVER YOU DO
MAKE IT COUNT

My Dr. wan'ts me to lose no more than two pounds a week...we don't want me to go into starvation mode...that will lead to a plateau and then me falling off the proverbial wagon.
I think we need to give ourselves a little wiggle room in that two pound a week goal.
Just imagine how great you will look at that wedding!
My goal is my Daughters graduation in May, there will be several smallish social gatherings surrounding the event. She will be getting a Phd., I want to look acceptable. Which I wont....I weigh great deal now. But....I will look better than I do now.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Would sure like to encourage you to set a reasonable sensible weight loss
It is better to attain a weight loss that you can be proud of one rather than one you have to really stress yourself out about achieving
Best wishes one day at a time
