Joining the August Challenge

Thursday, August 01, 2013

I've decided to try my hand at one of the SparkPeople Challenges. Well, try my hand again anyway. So the idea behind this August challenge is that you pick one thing and you try to be consistent about it. It's supposed to be a way to get back on track which I totally need.

So I decided my consistency challenge for getting back on track will be exercise. I am going to attempt to exercise in some form each day for the month of August. Now, I know this is a little extreme because you don't have to exercise everyday to be fitter but I have a point to this. My goal is to get my body used to the concept of exercising. Mentally I will be telling myself to exercise in some way everyday. Everything from gardening to walking to at home DVD's and lawn mowing. This gets me moving a little everyday. Then when August is done and over I will ideally be ready to set up an exercise schedule that will be easier for me to follow. That's the goal anyway. And I am realistic, in that I do not expect to be 100% successful. As the blog post says, the goal is to have more on days then off. So I'll be happy if I can get a 90% success rate. Will you be joining in the Challenge?

Today marks the end of my blogging challenge. 30 days writing about my progress and thoughts on my health. Today was another day full of tired. However, I've had to push the tired away some to work and get the cat taken care of. Now its come towards the end of the day and I feel exhausted again. There has been no exercise and nothing out of the ordinary today. I will be keeping up with my water streak on Sparkpeople. I feel like this is a good thing. After today though I won't be writing everyday. I'm still going to check in every so often, maybe 2-3 times a week just not everyday.
To all the people who regularly read my posts I hope your journey is a successful one and thanks for all the support.

Today has been a day of exhaustion. I went to work but I wasn't there mentally. Then yesterday I broke my water bottle so I didn't start drinking my water until later in the day today. After work I met up with family and a friend, grabbed a bite to eat and came home then went to bed. Then I woke up and went back to bed again. Then I got back up, ate dinner and have been doing my sparkpeople. The plan is to go back to bed.
My husband has this theory that between the long walk yesterday and waking early for work I may have reached my limit. Really, I would hate to think that's my limit though. So now I am finishing up my water (20+ days) and getting ready for bed. We have a cat to take to the vet early in the morning and I'd like to be less tired. I only hope I can manage mentally and physically.

It could also be just a temporary reminder to not try to do everything under the sun. I will bet that tomorrow you will feel just great! emoticon

And away we go...

Today I didn't feel like exercising but I still needed 25 minutes to keep on a roll with the 90 minute spark streak. My husband asked if I wanted to walk around the neighborhood and I turned him down. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately... he asked again. So i went walking. It was tough and I was winded. But I walked and that makes me happy today. 30 minutes down... on to next week!

Today was alright. I got in my water for the day. However, I didn't exercise. I don't feel bad about not exercising except that it seems to be affected by my work schedule. Working retail means that I have an always changing schedule. Because of that I am not always prepared when the chance arises to exercise. I find this difficult. Lately I've been fitting in the 10 minute videos but it still takes some time for me to switch my mindset. So, I am feeling confident in my water intake and I think its time to make the exercise portion of this lifestyle change work. I mean really work.
