french toast galore

I cannot wait to eat this for breakfast! I look forward to cooking in the kitchen and trying new recipes from my two cookbooks I received for Christmas this year.

I've already started planning my meal for New Year's Eve. This year I will be cooking soba noodles as a way to say good-bye to 2012. My other lists of foods to make from scratch include: chinese BBQ pork buns, vegetable stuffed tofu (inari sushi), and miso soup. Nothing makes me more happy than cooking in the kitchen and riding my bike.

Yesterday's hilly 60 mile ride was a tough workout cranking out the low cadence. Today will only be 2 hours easy recovery on the bike, so I will spend the rest of the day quietly reading, cooking in the kitchen, donning my apron and listening to mozart piano and "This American Life" on NPR.

Food can be your friend. Don't make it your enemy. EXERCISE and cook the food yourself, instead of eating out.

I am still recovering from my dry cough, but it's not bad enough for me to ride my bike. Today's workout is to do a 4 hours hilly in my big ring for at least 20 minutes and then continuous 10 min standing. The terrain is a bunch of rolling hills and a hill from hell about 14% grade. It's so nice to be back home where there is no snow and I have my bike.

When I visited my family in the midwest, I could not find a shop that rented bikes. Instead, I found a gym nearby and used the rowing machine. At the end of a mildly stressful day, cooking for my parents and taking them to their follow up doctor's appointment, it's refreshing to hit the gym and take my aggression out on the rowing machine. I feel super excited when I see improvements and I able to shave the minutes down with each 10K distance. I look forward to doing my first indoor rowing contest in late January! The distance is 2K, so I will be training for that in addition to riding my bike and get ready for race season. I am so incredibly stoked! 2013 race season is going to be great, because I am out to have some fun and win some races!

Time to eat and get ready for my ride...tonight is our neighborhood potluck get together. I will be making a butternut squash, caramelized onion feta cheese galette and for dessert, I am thinking of a tiramisu.

I look forward to those hills with every pedal stroke.
