A bit dreary this morning but the warmth in the morning when I head off to work makes me want to get in my garden!

Starting to be a bit warmer and when I get out of work in the afternoon I smell hints of Spring... time to lace up my tennies and start training for the Marathon in October... whooo hooooo!

St Paddy's Day!

Monday, March 16, 2009

Being the red-headed Irish gal I am this day has always been a chance for me to get in touch with my roots... that being said, I hope everyone out there plays smart and takes it safe!

Boot Camp

Thursday, March 05, 2009

I've been in the my Community's version of a Boot Camp program for some time now and while I appreciate the workout, the cardio and the strength training... I seldom feel like I'm getting the most out of it that I could. That being said I went into yesterday's class feeling guilty for missing a couple of classes this session and decided to make up for it. I put on my hand weights and ankle weights and vowed to give it my all... and this morning I woke up feeling a slight tingle in my abs and arms here and there. This makes me come to the realization that while I get some benefits of class by attending as I do, I won't see (or feel) the full effect unless I work for it. The weights are back in my bag and ready for Monday's class... bring on the twinges because it's a good feeling to know I've worked for them!

40-something...

Monday, January 05, 2009

December has come and gone and with it my 30's. Do I miss them? Not really. But this adventure of being a 40-something is taking me a bit to get used to. I didn't have the huge party. My office wasn't covered in over-the-hill-black. I slipped quietly from my 30's to my 40's with some close friends and family sending me cards, emails and text messages (and a killer version of the birthday song by a few that will remain nameless) and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
I've started the New Year by not only being 40, but by setting a goal to be in the best condition that I've been in my life. I want to be not only around when I'm 80, but able to enjoy life then too. In 10 months I'll be running in my first complete marathon and I must admit, I can't wait! I plan on spending my 2009 being fit and 40!
