Lost and found box?

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Anyone know where the lost and found box is here on SparkPeople? I seem to have lost July. It was right around the corner a minute ago when I was getting the garden ready, planting the flower beds, etc and the next thing you know it's gone!
Oh sure, it's August and it's nice and warm and the garden is going gang-busters and I have only one birthday cake to bake this month but dang, I was soooooooo looking forward to a nice July and I blink- ok maybe a couple blinks and it's gone.
No dune trips yet- no beaching- no canoeing- it just doesn't seem like it should be August already!
Positive twist- if I keep losing entire months like this I'll be retired in no time!

I'm not missing you at all- ok well maybe a little bit...

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

So it has been about a month since I had 10 inches chopped off my hair... and I really don't miss it at all... well... ok maybe I do. It is great when I want to dry it or toss it up in a baseball hat to not have to mess with all that length. It's amazing how much lighter my head feels too. But there are times when I go all "awwwwwwwwwww" and think of the killer french braid I used to be able to do, or the super long pony tail. I still have enough to put it up in a pony tail, but people at work tell me I look like I'm in college when I have it up- wait- is that a bad thing? I guess not- but it's not like I have a choice in it- the hair is gone-
Missing my hair? How silly huh? I mean, it's only hair- it'll grow back... if I want it to.

I know exactly what you mean! I'm prone to cutting my hair on impulse, telling myself that it's just hair and it will grow back. Then I always regret not having it longer. I don't think it's silly to have different moods and emotions about your hair at all. I think for women hair is very closely linked to our self image. Oh and by the way...I totally support looking like your still in College!! ;-)

Thanks you two for the great posts- I think I was just in one of those moods yesterday- this morning I'm loving the hair short because with the humid weather it's not as crazy as it used to be when it was long! ~grin~
Thanks again!!!!

If it was growing anyplace else on your body, you would be thrilled that you have less of it!! It's all relative...
This hot weather makes it a smart chice,, you can always let it grow out for winter!! emoticon emoticon

How my garden grows...

Friday, July 09, 2010

So far the garden is going gang-busters. Last night picked and canned 7 quarts of green beans (picture of them getting a bath in the sink)...

then there were the cukes (those pickling cukes are soooooo sweet!)...

and finally the huge kohlrabi (with a few little onions in the background- man those things are HOT!)

Sorry- the cabbage didn't make it for it's mug shot- it did however make a delicious cole slaw emoticon
Can't wait till the tomatoes ripen!

On a roll!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

After that blast of fitness minutes this weekend spending two days gardening and digging out weeds, I figured I'd continue it last night. Got home from work, slathered on the sunscreen and grabbed the clippers. Finished up all the bushes and shrubs in the front and side yards- ok maybe not as perfectly round as those landscaping dudes do- but dangit- they aren't too bad looking~ and a nice little boost for my compost pile too!

Weeding - and cactus picker picking

Monday, May 24, 2010

Spent the weekend weeding and cleaning out my cactus bed- it looks great- but my arms sure don't- they're full of pickers... I just don't see how they seem to get everywhere!
Some pruning left to get to tonight after work- I hope the baby birds are out of my dogwood!

No kidding when you spend the day digging in the garden and flower beds those minutes just add up- and the glasses of water from trying to stay hydrated! Dug a few pickers out last night- looks like I have just a few left ~grin~
