at least not here on Sparkpeople...I just realized that all of my Sparkbuddies are females for some reason...is it because the men don't really socialize like us? hmmmmmmm......



I went to the gym last night and took the Cardio Kickboxing class...all 75 minutes of it...my knee was fine though and isn't acting up now so I guess whatever was going on just went away on it's own..that's good but I'll be more careful from now on in my classes when I am doing squats, lunges, etc...

The class last night was packed and hot..I don't know why they won't move certain classes (i.e. the popular ones) into the bigger gym...you can't really do much "kick/punch/jabbing" in a crowded class without the risk of upper cutting someone that is too close...but then of course you had the LATE COMERS come in and all squeeze into what little room there was in between people...so they are entering at their own risk right?? emoticon

I really think the instructor should "close" the class at a certain point instead of risking injuries to get as many folks in class as possible...you have taller people with long legs/arms not really getting the full range of movement...I think the next class I will move to the front..no one wants to come to the front of the class when they are late..lol

For the "cooldown" last night, she had THEM doing push-ups...I say THEM because while I did do the stretches, I was NOT about to do the modified push-up (the ones with the bent knees) on a hardwood floor..no mat..no cushion...sorry...that is uncomfortable...and what is it about push-ups anyway? Seems like I am going to HAVE to like them since they have been a part of every class I've been at so far....



It's hard to believe that this month is almost over already but it is...I have a little over a week left to lose 3 lbs...I'll do what I can to get there and that's all I can do..nothing extreme/harmful though..I'm trying to do this the right way...once I get this 30 Day Shred DVD though I hope to see some results as this is the only exercise DVD I may ever own...

I need to be focused...just like Obama was when he killed that fly...LOL...for those of you who missed it, here is the link...

    Ok, let's see...with the class..it's like, hey...if I'm doin' uppercuts & you dare to be in MY way..you deserve what's comin' to ya! LMHO! Make it easier for me anyway..gimme something to come in contact with. WORD! LMHO!

Erm...you CAN do pushups. You know you betta work...covergirl...lemme stop...I am NOT RuPaul. LMHO!

As for male friends on Spark..I don't have 'em either...I don't seek 'em out. There aren't that many & I don't really "need" them. I'm good with my ladies. That's just me. I'm more comfortable discussing my fat with women I don't "KNOW" versus men I don't know. Does that make ANY sense? LMHO!

As for the fly - you go boi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A 75 minute Cardio Kickboxing class? Woot! You go! I tried the classes at my gym only to look up to see the instructor giving me pitying looks. LOL! I am not the most coordinated person in the world. For proof of that, just give me a step routine to follow...hee. Yeah. NO.

I loved watching the President kill that fly. Excellent. He's so cool about everything he does.

    I haven't met many on this website either. I guess they stick to the boards geared toward men and they're probably not the social butterfly types like we are.

    I've met a few men here on Spark took long but most of them are on teams concerning fitness or sports. I was surpised myself because they are very supportive also. Hope things get better and take it slow.

    I agree - its time to really get focused. I love this class you are taking and jeolus I cant be there. I wish I could! I feel you on the last be of pounds. its been such a nightmare hanging around my number and not seeing a bid difference even when I am busting my butt with working out.

Just wanted to say "hi"!!!!

Gotcha...lol!!!!

Well it's hump day and that means I have another day to go before my Friday morning weigh in...it's HARD for me to stay off the scale..I could put it away but since I live alone, it's not really "hidden" so I can go get it when the urge strikes...not really helping the cause much so it's still sitting out in the open...I just have to purposely bypass it in the morning...oh well..I can last until Friday...

I didn't go to the gym last night since my knee was hurting..it feels better today so I'll be there tonight..I think there is a Cardio Kickboxing class going on that I want to take...hope it doesn't aggravate my knee but if it is too much impact, I'll leave the class but I don't anticipate any problems...

I plan to hit the gym everyday for the rest of this week so I can get these 3 lbs off of me forever...but with TOM around the corner, anything can happen...I am still up on my water (no less than 12 cups a day), my veggie/fruit intake seems to fluctuate so I need to work harder on that....

One of my SparkBuddies, MRSFARRAND, has challenged me to look into the Jillian Micheals DVD...she knows that I do not like working out at home but I said that I would look into it...I checked on it and I probably will go get it this weekend...I know (from all the reviews here and elsewhere) it's a BEAR but you get great results...we'll see...I just have never liked working out at home...

She is actually the one who challenged me to start drinking more water after I said that I couldn't possibly drink more than 8 cups a day...(she uses reverse psychology on me..and I let her get away with it too emoticon)..she has lost 60 lbs so I think I can take her advice/challenges without question (well too many questions anyway)....

I can't do the chat feature at work for some reason...that's a good thing I guess since I spend half the day on here anyway... emoticon



Did you know that Toni Braxton suffers from Pericarditis, which is an inflammation of the pericardium? What is the Pericardium you ask? Well, it is a thin layer of specialized tissue that covers the outer surfaces of the heart. It protects the heart from infection/tumors, prevents your heart from moving in the chest, etc..so it is IMPORTANT...it is imperative that if you experience any chest pain to get immediate medical attention..while pericarditis isn't normally fatal, it can trigger more issues that can be fatal...

This is a reminder that no matter how "in shape" we are, ignoring internal care can lead to medical issues...so take care of yourself!!!

    wow - i had no idea about tony. i am a fan of her music. i would love to see some of her theater.

thank you for what you said about me! that was sweet. i just try to push people because i know if i had not been i probably would not have made the changes i needed to. hey - I would suggest taking ibroprofen which sounds like what you need with your knee. you hit it hard in the gym and need an anti-inflamatory every once in awhile to help. i take them about once or twice a week because i work out hard core. which reminds me that i need to update my page and my workout.


I am super excited you are willing to try the shred. we will be shred together. I LOVE this video and believe it or not - i have not made it to Level 3 yet. The video makes you want to prove Jillan wrong. I love a challenge.

    I love Toni! But a little history on her and her weight.. She's about 5 feet even. When she first came out she was like 110 pounds. She got sick while on the road and got down to about 90 pounds. Second album she was between 95-100 pounds. I don't know her weight now, after having 2 babies, but she still looks great. I'd say no more than 100-105. Short women! What can I say!

    It took me a minute to figure out it was Toni Braxton! When did she get so thin? She's always, pretty much, been in excellent shape but I would never have called her thin? So...I get it...motivation. However, your success with working out and upping the water and fruits and veggies is inspiring on a very local (as in SP) level for me. In a little while, we both can be "right at you, Toni!!"(lol)

Erm...I'm glad your knee is feeling better. I hope the gym is good for ya tonight. You can definitely get those 3 lbs. off of you for good...just keep at it! :-)

Well I went to the Total Conditioning class last night and Mike, the instructor, must have COSMICALLY known about my blog on yesterday about needing to up the strength training because he WORE us out last night...EVERYONE was huffing and puffing during and after class...all 75 minutes of it!!!

This was my 2nd class..last week we used the medicine balls predominately...but last night was ALL free weights and resistance bands...we also used a step for the more "intense" exercises he had us doing...the room is pretty small and that class is pretty packed the whole time...the sweat was dripping off me after the warm up...lol

I must have squatted to deeply with the free weight because my knee is a little "sore"...I can walk on it and it's not swollen so I guess it's ok...at first I was thinking I need to stay at home tonight but I think I can make it to the gym and walk on the treadmill or something..we'll see!!!



I avoided a disaster today...one of my friends birthday is today and a bunch of my friends wanted to take him out for dinner tonight at one of my favorite restaurants...but he already had plans so we will be taking him to brunch this weekend instead...that works better all around...I'll be paid this weekend, will be able to eat well at the brunch and still have time to get to the gym afterwards...

Most of my friends birthdays fall over the summer time frame but thankfully I don't have anything going on in July that I am aware (as of right now)...and then in August, I have like 4 birthdays to consider..including my mom's....so I'll be "busy" again...good times!!!!!

    Man, summer time is the worse for me and weight loss because we are always busy with activities that cause us to be traveling or out about in the city having a good time. Some things you can avoid - others just do you best and try to make the best changes.

Also whats up with your body measure inches?? did you ever take them initially and have you taken them sense. post your result.

your journey on the class of 75 freakin minutes which is crazy by the way - man i miss a memeber ship - reminded me of this quote.

Come back from vacation to find that your boss is no longer here...what a WELCOME BACK surprise...lol

My boss has taken a job downtown and according to her, they contacted her Friday and wanted her to start today...I got the news via an email from her sent on yesterday....no details on what she'll be doing or anything either...hmmm something sounds "fishy" about it but hey, whatever...good for her...I'm not sure what the "secret" is considering we all are looking for jobs...my co-worker was told Friday evening and is not pleased...she feels that something is "amiss" as well..I don't know...maybe she got a job that I had applied for as well and is uncomfortable telling me or something...anywho...next subject...



I am back on the grind this evening with the gym...I am going to the Total Conditioning class tonight and might hang around for the ab class afterwards...I am going to leave work early (benefit of having no boss emoticon) so I can take my dogs out and eat something beforehand...

I also HAVE GOT to kick up the strength training...I am too jiggly..I know that LL Cool J had a song a looong time ago about "Ya Jigglin' Baby" but I do not think he was referring to the parts on me that are jigglin...lol...I definitely have to tone up..it's not a cute sight to be thin and jello-y!!!!

I wish I could afford a personal trainer for the strength training ONLY...I work on the machines but it must not be enough...I'm not trying to kill myself but I guess I need to be putting forth more "energy" to get some results..I will focus on that the rest of this month as well as losing the 3 lbs that are keeping me from leaving 170ville....

I don't expect to see much change in tone in a 2 week period but maybe I'll be a little "firmer"...and also, I'll find a good routine and remain consistent at it...



I made a lunch date for Friday so I'll be good this week with my eating...I weigh in on Friday morning and will use the lunch as my "treat" if I have a good weigh in...no I won't be eating the wrong foods or overeating, etc. BUT I will just enjoy chit chatting and not having to worry about packing my lunch that day...a mental "treat" if you will...

I think I am going to keep Toni as my "inspirational" model this week...I like her and think she is very underrated as an artist...AND again, for her to be in her 40s, her body is great!!!!

    I hope you had a great workout last night! Keep up on the food and you are on your way. Are you still drinking all your waters.

About the personal trainer. Ever thought of using a virtual trainer website to desighn a fitness program for you. Itsnt it all the same anyway. Like they go by age, weight, ability, strength, size, etc. Do some searching on line and see what you come up with. Try self magazine because they provide lots of stuff.

::sigh:: where did my vacation and Saturday go??::sigh::



Anyway, I am back to work tomorrow or shall I say back to "looking" for work tomorrow...I didn't do much in that regard this past week and I know I probably should have...just wanted a mental break so I took it...and I'm not sorry that I did...

I am also going to work on losing these last 3 raggedy pounds of fat before June is over...I WILL GET OUT OF THE 170s...I can't believe they are hanging on like this...geesh...if I could only find a rich man that loved me as much as this fat seems to, I'd be a happy camper..lol...

I will weigh in this Friday...I should have done it this past Friday but didn't...I am going to the gym everyday this week...I plan to go tonight (unless my mom calls me over to her house) but I don't think that the gym is the catalyst for my weight lose so I am going to take some advice from one of my SPbuddies and do a carb free meal a couple of times this week...I've never been a salad lover but I'll try that as well...gotta plan my menu and go to the store....

I am giving myself to until the end of the month to lose these few pounds so I won't be stressing/obsessing over it...I'd love for them to be gone by the end of June so I can go into July with another and if they go away sooner rather than later, then the sooner I can move on to other goals....

Here I go...again...I've lost 13 lbs so far in what seems like forever but it's still great considering I didn't do anything extreme to do it...there are areas I should have had more discipline in but hey, I'm only human....I will get to my goal weight...and I'm going to do it the right way!!!

Let the fun begin!!!



Today's model is Toni Braxton..I love her music and I love the fact that she is over 40 and has a body that looks better than most 20 yr olds....YOU GO TONI!!!

    In God's own time, HE will provide... you know that, girl!!! Those pounds will be a thing of history before you know it. (Easier typed than done, huh? LOL!!!) This too shall pass.

    I agree with switching up your routine--both food and exercise. Also, are you sleeping enough? That's another hindrance to weight loss. Just read an article somewhere...
