  How do you stay motivated? This question has had me stumped for more years that I care to admit to. I can read all of these wonderful comments, and be temporarily motivated, but when it comes time to be doing the doin, I soon wimp out and get descouraged that I don't have the stamina or desire to continue.

    I got 60 minutes of cardio in today and burned off just over 600 calories. Intending to keep it up throughout the year.

    Hi, I'm new to this so here it is...I was in a wheel chair 3 years ago. I am now walking...not running...but walking. I am not an exercise person...but three days ago I started a 30 minute walk around our estuary each day with my husband and dog, Jazzy. Yesterday, I climbed some hills and went tubing down the mountain with my grandchildren. Also I have been doing 5 minutes of stretches each day. Wow, I want to keep this up. I don't feel 66. It was great. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year everyone. emoticon emoticon

  January 2, 2012: Just started using the SparkPeople Tools...it is an eye opener tracking the foods/nutrition that I am feeding my body. I am optimistic though that with web-page in my face and staying dedicated to reaching my goals in a realistic manner, I will feel better by this same time next year!

December 31: Day 118 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Today's Fitness
I did 30 minutes of fitness today. (this is for yesterday, December 31)

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was running on the beach with my boys. We drove down there for a few hours to celebrate the last day of the year. It's fun to see them get exercise outside in such a fun way!

I love this comment from a member it's a great one showing how making your life an adventure can be such a great motivator to take additional positive steps to reach goals. Let's all make it a great 2012! I also think I remember talking to the nutritionist mentioned below!

Mr. Spark Guy.... Funny story... I noticed I was so close yesterday to getting a new trophy (15k) that I thought I might be able to make it. I did a lot last night trying to get over 100 pts, and today too. I added everything up, and even if I did another 30 minutes of *something* and got all 10 pts for extra exercises... I would be 8pts away from reaching my new year's goal... and then I scrolled down and saw, "Watch this video and get 10pts." Sweet.

I *AM* amazed at your generosity, your commitment to help other people be *healthy* (not skinny!). Floored.

Thank you for sharing your wealth for a greater cause. I've been a sparker on and off since Dec of 2007, when my nutritionist at Hickam AFB, HI referred me (I'm in the AF).

Thank you isn't enough... but seriously.

THANK YOU!

May the new year bring you many blessings, and tons of encouragement!

    Walked a couple of miles at gorgeous Point Lobos with my 6-year-old grand-daughter. The best part was that my fitness level has improved so much over the last year that the walk was easy - and I was able to focus on the magnificent ocean waves (rather than on an aching knee or being out of breath).

  I'm 69 and have a new hip (June) and do my walks at Walmart, walking the perimeter. Far safer than the streets, and changing lanes and routes adds to the routine.

    Yesterday, I ended the year off with a great 2hour hike with my gym pals. The weather was beautiful. The first part was all up hill. A great butt exercise!! Hope you had a wonderful New Years!!

    My workout yesterday was just 1 mile walking. I was drowning in work commitments and just wanted to take those 16 min off and relax. Which I did.

Today's Fitness
I did 30 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight believe it or not was eating a lemon. Or rather putting some lemon slices in my water. I forgot about doing this until I was chatting with my brother about this and about how it's a great habit for keeping your liver healthy and other positive benefits.

Thank you, you've changed my entire life! In 8 weeks I'm down 20 pounds.....and I went from being short of breath walking down the driveway and back to 60 minutes of Step Aerobics 6 days a week AND I'm learning how to run...I'm up to 20 minutes of jogging/walking.....thank you!     DH and I often put lemon or lime slices or juice in our water - it helps to change the flavor a little bit and makes it a little more interesting than plain water, although that is still my favorite way to drink it!

  My nieces and nephew would eat raw lemons from wherever (dish at a restaurant, their own kitchen, MY kitchen!) also the lemon juice thing. They'd open it up (mine usually) and take a swig. When one was done I got smart. To open it you have to pull off a tab. I didn't I poked a hole in it with the fork tine! They can't guzzle it! lol. Nice blog though. And yes I did my 90 mins. HUGS

    I enjoyed a 4 mile walk in the countryside with my son. It was a beautiful day here in Santa Barbara County.

I too heard about the health benefits of lemon and we incorporate one lemon in our green juice every morning.

    I was feeling down today because I still can't find a job and no one was home to keep me company, but I decided to bundle up and go for a walk in 10˚ weather.

Walking in a winter wonderland really does make you jollier - a half hour of crisp air and new-fallen snow made me feel much better!

Today's Fitness
I did 24 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was having another one of my veggie smoothies. I'm trying to turn this into a consistent habit again. They are so easy just start with some tomato juice and then throw in a bunch of veggies and presto you have several servings of veggies. I also like adding cayenne both for flavor and good health.

Today I will start my Sparkpeople life over again...so I started by taking the 3 flights of stairs at work..instead of the eleveator. Wearing a pedometer to achieve my goal of 11,000 steps a day at least and for dinner made a sparkpeople recipe soup. Later a 10 min work out and some house chores including heaving some laundry...I feel a SPARK OF MOTIVATION COMING!!!

    Finished my 10+ workout today, walk/jog on the track. I plan to do some weight training later today. I like the shorter interval workouts, I plan to work out twice a day for better results.

Today's highlight was getting a solid 8.5 hours of sleep last night ahhh. Not too much fitness today, but another day in the consistency book.

This daily exercise habit is getting addictive, and I'm really enjoying it. Yesterday (26) I had a feldenkrais class and walked 2 km. Today's my personal training session!

  I just joined today and I am excited to learn and do as much as I can in the next year to make new goals and live healthy and lose weight. I live in Togo, West Africa and work there as a missionary nurse/educator and so will only have one more month in the USA with good Internet and after that, it will be hit or miss due to lack of consistent Internet.     Today I decided to make small changes to my lifestyle...I am walking the stairs for 3 minutes every hour since I get 10 minute breaks at work. I also did some standing wall push-ups too!Feeling good! One step at a time!

    I missed a day, but made up for it yesterday with 15 min. elliptical, 30 min. on stationary bike, and then 15 min. plus 5 min. cool down on treadmill.

I was recording my spark fitness and noticed that I had set a goal for myself of stretching 3 times a week and that I hadn't done that yet this week. So, I got out a beginner level yoga dvd and did that for an hour.

After all that, my goal of getting 8 hours sleep was easy to reach! I slept soundly and woke up this morning feeling strong!

    I got home in time to walk me dogs for 30 minutes before it got too dark. Combine that with the two 15 minute walking breaks at work and I did 60 minutes of fitness today! Plus my dogs loved walking a different route. Going to do it again tonight!

    i ran 13Km yesterday and am feeling very happy despite the fact that i only managed to cover the distance in a dismal 1 hour 45 minutes. But i hope to improve the timing. Today i did my daily spark workout! feeling pleased.
