Title: Half-way to Goal

Message: I promised myself I would officially "woo-hoo" when I got here and I almost forgot. I have lost 35.5 pounds since I started on Spark People August 7, 2011 when I had 70 pounds to lose. So, I am a half pound into the next half! The "skinny" clothes I put away after "the last big diet" are starting to fit - in fact, when they fit "last time" I weighed a fair deal less than I do now ... The difference is EXERCISE! I broke the barrier to daily exercise on SP with the Ten-Minute-A-Day philosophy and have been doing it daily since - up to 35 minutes 2-3 times a week! Maybe some of the current weight is MUSCLE: I am in a smaller, firmer package! YAY! And THANKS Spark People! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

The 10 minutes a day mindset opens the door for activity every day. Today, for example, I started working out thinking "I'll just do the 10 minutes but about 8 minutes in, I was rejuvenated and decided to continue on to complete 30 minutes. It works!

I love the idea of 10 mintues a day. It has become a part of each day for me now, and it usually leads to much more than 10 minutes. Thanks for such a simple concept that really works.

Well done on the weight lose and the muscle gain! 45min is really impressive! I start to fall over after 20min lol

Today's Fitness
I did 96 minutes of fitness today using the New Year motivation for another good day!

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was doing a good amount of weights and rowing machine. I also went outside for awhile with the boys.

Title: Reached weight loss goal by my target date!

Message: When I set my weight loss goal, I set the target date as today: 1/1/12. Many times along the journey I have questioned the wisdom of that decision. It meant that I had to keep making good choices, or at least reasonable splurges throughout the holidays. To top it off, I knew that I would have to take the last 10 days of my journey either being a guest at someone else''s house, or having company in my home, with little or no access to the internet. I borrowed my neighbor''s scale last night, so I would have it to weigh in first thing this morning. Last night, it looked like it might be hopeful. This morning, I discovered that I not only reached my weight loss goal, but I left an extra 1.8 pounds behind. I''m very relieved and excited. I really was not at all convinced that I would make it through the last couple weeks without the accountability and support that I''m used to. Woohoo!! I did it!!!

    I love SparkPeople!
My first weigh day is Monday!
I have some physical disabilities and it makes it extremely hard to exercise.I can walk but it is very, very slow.I did go outside today as the weather here in Missouri was beautiful!61F!

I did not think I could lose weight if I didn't exercise hard and fast.So I saw the ten minute challenge and was wondering if it was to late to get in on it? I can walk for ten minutes every day on treadmill or outside. As I said it's slow but it's moving.

Hi, I'm new to this so here it is...I was in a wheel chair 3 years ago. I am now walking...not running...but walking. I am not an exercise person...but three days ago I started a 30 minute walk around our estuary each day with my husband and dog, Jazzy. Yesterday, I climbed some hills and went tubing down the mountain with my grandchildren. Also I have been doing 5 minutes of stretches each day. Wow, I want to keep this up. I don't feel 66. It was great. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year everyone. emoticon emoticon

Mr. Spark Guy.... Funny story... I noticed I was so close yesterday to getting a new trophy (15k) that I thought I might be able to make it. I did a lot last night trying to get over 100 pts, and today too. I added everything up, and even if I did another 30 minutes of *something* and got all 10 pts for extra exercises... I would be 8pts away from reaching my new year's goal... and then I scrolled down and saw, "Watch this video and get 10pts." Sweet.

I *AM* amazed at your generosity, your commitment to help other people be *healthy* (not skinny!). Floored.

Thank you for sharing your wealth for a greater cause. I've been a sparker on and off since Dec of 2007, when my nutritionist at Hickam AFB, HI referred me (I'm in the AF).

Thank you isn't enough... but seriously.

THANK YOU!

May the new year bring you many blessings, and tons of encouragement!

Walked a couple of miles at gorgeous Point Lobos with my 6-year-old grand-daughter. The best part was that my fitness level has improved so much over the last year that the walk was easy - and I was able to focus on the magnificent ocean waves (rather than on an aching knee or being out of breath).

All the best to you in 2012, Chris, and thank-you for spreading the Spark!

    Happy New Year Chris!

I am starting this year with a leg stabilizer, to help my R knee mend. Got any suggestions?

December 30: Day 117 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Friday, December 30, 2011

Today's Fitness
I did 30 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight believe it or not was eating a lemon. Or rather putting some lemon slices in my water. I forgot about doing this until I was chatting with my brother about this and about how it's a great habit for keeping your liver healthy and other positive benefits.

Love seeing these kinds of messages! (and when she says "you" -- that means all of us since we're all in this together!)

NOTE FROM BROCCOLIROSE:
Thank you, you've changed my entire life! In 8 weeks I'm down 20 pounds.....and I went from being short of breath walking down the driveway and back to 60 minutes of Step Aerobics 6 days a week AND I'm learning how to run...I'm up to 20 minutes of jogging/walking.....thank you! May your New Year be filled with "sparkle and shine"! Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great day! Did you get at least 10 minutes of fitness? What's your highlight?

SparkCheers!

DH and I often put lemon or lime slices or juice in our water - it helps to change the flavor a little bit and makes it a little more interesting than plain water, although that is still my favorite way to drink it!

Have a very happy and safe New Year's Eve and Day!

I ran 45 minutes yesterday while the weather was nice. Have to make sure I get out before we get snow.

I had 55 min of fitness yesterday - 45 min walking (Leslie, always the most welcoming option) and 10 min of stretching.
My highlight definitely was very good news I got about work. emoticon

Thanks for the past year of being at this wonderful site Chris! May 2012 be better than ever for you and SP! emoticon emoticon

Sterberger--you inspired me. I'm going to get out for a 10 minute walk to clear out my lungs and freshen up my head before bed.

My nieces and nephew would eat raw lemons from wherever (dish at a restaurant, their own kitchen, MY kitchen!) also the lemon juice thing. They'd open it up (mine usually) and take a swig. When one was done I got smart. To open it you have to pull off a tab. I didn't I poked a hole in it with the fork tine! They can't guzzle it! lol. Nice blog though. And yes I did my 90 mins. HUGS

I enjoyed a 4 mile walk in the countryside with my son. It was a beautiful day here in Santa Barbara County.

I too heard about the health benefits of lemon and we incorporate one lemon in our green juice every morning.

I signed up for the Sparkpeople generated, ST workouts. I'm starting with 3 days a week, for 20 minutes, and I'll work my way up. Thanks for making it easy.

I was feeling down today because I still can't find a job and no one was home to keep me company, but I decided to bundle up and go for a walk in 10˚ weather.

Walking in a winter wonderland really does make you jollier - a half hour of crisp air and new-fallen snow made me feel much better!
