Took Princess with me and we walked to/from the store, 4-1/2 miles round trip - great alternative to driving and it took about 90 minutes, including 'sniff time' for Princess. Today I have to get something at the drug store so we're going to walk instead of driving - about 5 miles round trip. Have a great holiday week!

I also walked to the garden and around it for another 10 mins. Slow , progressive, at least i am moving. So good to see all of you doing well. It really gives me more courage and conviction.

November 15: Day 72 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Today's Fitness
I did 72 minutes of fitness today this was a coincidence that it's also Day 72 of the streak!

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was again seeing good progress. This time I could tell that my jump rope and sprints speed clearly increased. I think the benefits of consistency are really starting to kick in. I really love seeing how being consistent with strength exercises then translates into improvements in other types of exercise as well.

In my few spare minutes of "me time" I was looking over the popular blogs and did a double take! SparkGuy is on Day 72 of his streak? Not day 4,976 but day 72?!? Wow, I feel SO MUCH BETTER about my 4 week @ 5x per week streak! Honestly, I get a little intimidated at huge exercise streak numbers and feel like I might never get there - after all, there is no hurrying up the day count or 'catching up' to someone with a huge lead.

Chris, I missed the beginning of the story, but it sounds like health problems were at fault for the reset. I am sorry and will keep you in my prayers for fast healing. And I hope it doesn't sound selfish to say that I am inspired by your relatively small, very reachable streak number. I've been a 5 times per week girl, but starting tomorrow I am going to be at least a 10 minute per day 7 days a week girl.

Thank you! For the site and your dream and the book, but especially for being within the realm of reasonably do-able!

My daughter started walking every day after she started college and is past day 50 of at least 10 minutes a day. I have restarted my streak and the 13th was my 13th day.     Hi Spark Guy!

I actually did 60 minutes on the elliptical today (4.5 miles, which is kinda slow for me. I can do 5 if I really push myself.)

Anyway, you have a job posting for an editorial assistant on careerbuilder.com that totally has my name written all over it. I applied through careerbuilder, but you also want some writing samples, which I would love to send (or you can just check my blogs on my Spark page :-) My "handle" is Barb7983. My latest blog is "Lucky is a Spark Doggie!" He's lost 16 lbs. since 2009.

Please let me know how I can send you more writing samples. Thanks!

In the past, Sunday is my lazy day and I try not to get out of my PJ's. Since starting SparkPeople a couple of weeks ago, today was a change! I got dressed at 3PM and went for a walk in the neighborhood. 45minutes! YAY ME! emoticon

Congratulations on keeping at your fitness streaks! My highlight (which actually occurred last night, does that count?) was getting rid of my size 5X shirts and size 60 pants and trading them for size 3X and size 54's. Off to Goodwill they're going. Plus I faced some anxiety issues head on today.

Thank you for your vision in starting this site and for the Spark book.

Best to you.

Steve

November 10: Day 67 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Thursday, November 10, 2011

Today's Fitness
I did 27 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was getting outside in the crisp fall weather for jump rope and stretching. Keep getting as much sunshine as we head into fall/winter as you can everyone!

Member Highlight

Here's a fun SparkMail I received today. I love seeing so many members talk about how The SparkPeople Cookbook really goes beyond just recipes and that the recipes are so good as well!

I just wanted to personally thank you for the SparkPeople program. I feel better than I have most of my adult life, and while I'm doing the work, you've given me the tools. I can't even begin to properly express my gratitude. I feel like I just found true north on my compass. :)

The SparkPeople Cookbook is an amazing guide, and so much more than a cookbook. I've been recommending it to all of my friends! (As well as SparkPeople.com, every time someone asks me how I'm losing so much weight.)

I joined SparkPeople.com last year, but wasn't ready for the change. August 15th of this year was my 'official' start date with my quest to change my life. Since then, I've lost 35 of the 120 lbs. I plan to shed. And I did it without starving myself, killing myself at the gym (even though I work out 3 days a week), or following some fad diet that deprives you of all normal foods.

Thank you for understanding that it takes more than a meal plan to make a successful journey towards a healthy life.

All my best to you and yours.

Tina

I hope you had a great day! Did you get at least 10 minutes of fitness? What's your highlight?

SparkCheers!

I used to think if I was not sweating to death I was not exercising. I learned, through my dietician, that as long as I am out and getting exercise at least 15-30 minutes I am doing something. That has helped motivate me to not kill myself and to reach an obtainable goal. So good for you in all you are doing. Keep up the great work.

Oh and today's highlight - beautiful weather in upstate NY, so I was able to run outside in a short sleeve t-shirt and cropped leggings!

Great Letter! I was interested in the part where you're official start date was August 15th of this year - and before that date you weren't ready. You know yourself so well - congratulations on your 35 lb weight loss success. You are truly inspirational!

I got my walking video in this AM and this evening I had to get creative to keep my strength streak going 445 days now - my sciatic is causing major pain in the back - so I did some easy core and upper body to strength and not irritate and keep the streak alive. Streaks are the best thing going for me. I'm also working on a third month of every day over 12,000 steps 840 to go before bed time!
