November 10: Day 67 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Thursday, November 10, 2011

Today's Fitness
I did 27 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was getting outside in the crisp fall weather for jump rope and stretching. Keep getting as much sunshine as we head into fall/winter as you can everyone!

Member Highlight

Here's a fun SparkMail I received today. I love seeing so many members talk about how The SparkPeople Cookbook really goes beyond just recipes and that the recipes are so good as well!

**

---------- TEENTABEAN wrote: ----------
I just wanted to personally thank you for the SparkPeople program. I feel better than I have most of my adult life, and while I'm doing the work, you've given me the tools. I can't even begin to properly express my gratitude. I feel like I just found true north on my compass. :)

The SparkPeople Cookbook is an amazing guide, and so much more than a cookbook. I've been recommending it to all of my friends! (As well as SparkPeople.com, every time someone asks me how I'm losing so much weight.)

I joined SparkPeople.com last year, but wasn't ready for the change. August 15th of this year was my 'official' start date with my quest to change my life. Since then, I've lost 35 of the 120 lbs. I plan to shed. And I did it without starving myself, killing myself at the gym (even though I work out 3 days a week), or following some fad diet that deprives you of all normal foods.

Thank you for understanding that it takes more than a meal plan to make a successful journey towards a healthy life.

All my best to you and yours.

Tina

I hope you had a great day! Did you get at least 10 minutes of fitness? What's your highlight?

I used to think if I was not sweating to death I was not exercising. I learned, through my dietician, that as long as I am out and getting exercise at least 15-30 minutes I am doing something. That has helped motivate me to not kill myself and to reach an obtainable goal. So good for you in all you are doing. Keep up the great work.

Streaks are the best thing going for me. I'm also working on a third month of every day over 12,000 steps 840 to go before bed time!

November 8: Day 65 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Tuesday, November 08, 2011

Today's Fitness
I did 45 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was doing 5 "sets" of anaerobic exercises throughout the day jump rope and sprints. Love how these make me feel.

Member Highlight

Today's member highlight is seeing my book The Spark spread internationally to help more people reach their goals. Here's an email I sent to our team today:

Hi All

This is a fun one -- I can't remember if I've mentioned that Hay House has started selling the rights to The Spark to other countries. Now every few months or so I open up a package and it's The Spark from another country.

So far, the countries are (in order received):
1) South Korea
2) Italy (maybe The Spark can help with their debt crisis?)
3) Poland

And today I just opened a package with a copy from.....

4) Bulgaria!

Fun fun!

I hope you had a great day! Did you get at least 10 minutes of fitness? What's your highlight?

I am loving this 10 minute fitness thing because starting out small has caused me to increase to more exercise more each day. The momentum is spreading to other areas of my life.
My aha moment for yesterday came when I starting thinking about my passion for helping others to reach their goals.
I knew I would have to return toschool in order to achieve my goal, thinking then " I can't do that"... the "aha" moment came when I said to myself.."oh, yes I can..Why not?....After all my lifes motto is...I can and I will.

My 20 minutes of exercise was a blast today. I went with my special needs kids to our last recess and helped my girls join a small jump rope game. I ended up with a line of 20 2nd and 3rd grade girls waiting to jump. I turned the rope and thrilled the kids with my jumping skills. When the recess bell rang, we were all hugging and slapping high fives. What a fun way to get my fitness minutes.

November 6: Day 63 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Sunday, November 06, 2011

Today's Fitness
I did 35 minutes of fitness today.

Today's Highlights
Today's highlight was playing football with Nico. I was getting ready to run sprints and he wanted to play football, so I was able to play with him and do sprints at the same time playing football. Nothing like a 5-year old running and laughing to keep you young as you play with him! He won the game 55-28 :).

Here's a fun one from a member on Friday!

kimfly2 has just submitted a new topic.

Title: I FEEL SO GOOD!!!

Message: I''ve been trying to loose weight for so long. I have a family
history of obesity and diabetes, and the weight gain has been slow but
constant. It was starting to feel hopeless... inevitable, like when your
car slides backwards on a snowy hill: you know the problem, but you can''t
stop it.

Now, as of today I''ve lost 20 lbs. 10 in a year off of spark people, and
10 in 2 months on it. I''ve lost 4 inches on my waist! And not only that,
I look SO MUCH better. The weight loose isn''t obvious, but other things
are! I''m so much more awake, my skin has completely cleared up, I''ve got
NO dark rings under my eyes and their brighter, hair shinier, mood happier!

It''s so incredible, I still can''t really believe it. I have to keep
checking to make sure. Sometimes, I feel so happy/relieved it makes me
want to cry.

Sorry, I''m gushing, but I never thought it would happen. This website is
the best. I love the support and advice I get here. THANK YOU!!!

Incorporating your family into your fitness is fantastic! I sometimes feel guilty leaving my family to go to yoga or a run. Teenagers aren't interested in walking with Mom so I need to come up with something we can all do together.

I am still new at this. But, I have made a challenge to myself to track my food for 28 days, drink water, and exercise at least 10 minutes a day.So far doing good.

I so can relate to kimfly2 and many others about losing weight. I have been on several weight lost diets, worked at a time but then i gained it back. I started this site by referral from on of my JAP club (cooking club) She recommended me to check it out. This site is so powerful, helpful, inspirational, motivating etc.. I can go on for days.. Like kimfly2, i just feel great everyday because i can do it. And like today's quote says. Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough , we must DO!!! And I am ready to DO!!! emoticon

Playuing with your grandson is great! I don't have grandchildren yet, but I spent a day taking care of a 6 year old. She wore me out! I'm doing the 10 minute per day challenge and today I completed 10 minutes although I have a cold.

I am in week 2 of the Spark book and an learning a lot from it.

Thank you for this site! It is life changing!

I'm going to be a great grandmother next April and I need to be able to keep up with him/her since I am going to be helping care for him/her while mom works... I will know next month whether it's going to be a boy or a girl....As a former day care owner for 30 years I do have some good ideas on helping care for children....I need my strength to do this so I have to get into shape if for no other reason! emoticon

Yesterday, I went for a lovely, 78-minute walk. Fall is such a beautiful season!

Also, what a great story! I am glad the user you profiled is doing well - her story is an inspiration.

I had an exciting highlight also. I took my 4 yr old granddaughter geocaching for her first time. Not only did we take a nice long hike through a beautiful nature preserve but she learned a new hobby. She still calls it treasure hunting but I can live with that.

My highlight was raking leaves in the garden. It was very warm, 22 C and the sunshine sparkling!

I have much to thank SP for, in the last 6 months, besides the weight loss, my BP is now normal, I'm no longer "obese", i've gone from a size 18 to an 8 jean, and have lost a total of 36" from various body parts! My doctor asked just what it was I was doing..... I gave him the information on SP and he wrote it all down!! Perhaps he'll be passing it on to others! Thanks Chris!!
My husband thanks you too!!! :)
