Today's prompt #2 of the 15 Day Vitality Challenge (round 7!) is about building the belief that it isn't a question whether or not you CAN accomplish your weight loss goal. You've already accomplished SO much in your life...it isn't a question whether or not you are going to be successful on this journey, it is just a matter of time! I wanted to post the prompt and my current example for my push goal of building Vitality and helping others. Your belief statement is your time to BRAG and build your confidence!!! Don't be shy (even though others are reading your posts)-I decided I'd lead by example and show you it's OK to brag :) :) I hope you guys find it easy to relate to how you would write your weight loss belief narrative as well!
15-Day Vitality Challenge, Round 7, PROMPT #2
It's time for you to BELIEVE you can do this! I tell you guys all the time, you are GOAL-GETTERS...setting and accomplishing goals is what we do! With our weight loss goal, we expect ourselves to be perfect like we are with our other goals. The problem is...society's expectations of dieting that we buy into (you have to work out for at least an hour EVERY single day, you have to eat 1200 calories, you aren't allowed to have ANY "bad" food, etc.) are WAY too much to ask of ourselves without building some momentum (and some of the stuff we believe is just plain untrue!). So we get discouraged when we "fail" to live up to our plans and expectations and don't believe we can do it!
It's time to realize that you have already accomplished so much in your life and that it isn't a question whether or not you can lose weight. Losing weight is inevitable once you realize your plan isn't about perfection, it's about CONSISTENCY. So often we tell ourselves that "we're never going to be able to do this"--even though logically we KNOW that if we just remain consistent, the weight HAS to come off.
Time to build that belief and celebrate all you have accomplished up until this point!!
*Write an exhaustive list of the reasons why it isn’t a question whether or not you are going to lose this weight, it is just a matter of time. Include your skills, talents, education, experiences, personal characteristics, support systems, and anything else you can think of (examples: you've done it before, you've learned so much about what doesn't work during your past attempts, you are participating in this challenge, a job promotion you worked for and got, specific projects you have completed, etc.), DON'T BE AFRAID TO SOUND LIKE YOU ARE BRAGGING...that's the whole point!!!! We tend to be very modest and by practicing the opposite, we start to recognize our gifts!
*Use complete sentences and start with the word “I”
*Write as much as you can. Notice the emotions and feelings that begin to swell as you are writing. Write until you can’t think of anything else to write.
*Stop, take a break, and then come back to your Belief Narrative and start writing again.
You can use this tool and technique for ANY goal you have. Procrastination and the inability to complete a goal has nothing to do with YOU, it has to do with an unconscious belief that you aren't capable of achieving the goal. Doing this exercise will help build your belief in yourself, retrain your subconscious, and make you more confident that you can accomplish what you set out to. I just did this same exact exercise for Vitality, you can read that blog here:
Belief Narrative
There are no limits to my success because I was born to do this! I am fulfilling God’s plan for my life and it isn’t a question whether or not I will fulfill his mission for me. I am a one-of-a-kind human being who gives my heart to every woman I work with and I genuinely want to make a positive impact on the world. I share my positivity and Love for life and bleed authenticity, all of which attracts clients that energize me because of how perfect we are for one another.
I majored in advertising in college, which gives me the marketing background that is required for coaches to succeed on a large scale. I also majored in sociology, which made me extremely empathetic and gave me the burning desire to make a huge difference in this world. Writing is also one of my gifts and something I have always loved to do. The women who are attracted to me as a resource tell me all the time my writing is magnetic and they can’t stop reading it! Not to mention, I also attended the leading coach training school in the country and got the best coaching education available.
I have also experienced exactly what my clients and supporters are experiencing, enabling me to know exactly what they are going through and feeling at specific periods of time. I give them hope that they can change too because they know I have been exactly where they are. The ability to relate to my clients and supporters in the way that I do is absolutely invaluable and makes me a phenomenal, empathetic coach that can easily empower clients to make the same changes I did, in a fraction of the time.
In addition, Divine guidance, order, and sychroncities led me to my greatest teacher and support system: SparkPeople.com, the community, SparkLive, and my blogs. SparkPeople proved everything that I used to believe about dieting wrong and taught me how to live a sustainable healthy lifestyle. The community taught me how to be kind to myself, not to give up on my goals if I wasn’t “perfect”, helped me heal the damaging effects of my perfectionism, and taught me how to use the Law of Attraction to manifest weight loss (which is now the basis of Vitality). Living life this way is the source of endless happiness! Empowering others to live that way is a true gift SparkPeople has enabled me to give to the world.
Not only that, but I met so many supportive people on SparkPeople that encouraged me to go after my dreams and saw the gifts in me long before I could. Ultimately, they were the ones who empowered ME to believe in my abilities and myself so I could have the guts to go back to coach training school at the age of 23. They helped me crush my limiting belief that I was too young to be a life coach and reminded me that by waiting until I was older to share my gift, I was also waiting to impact the lives of others in big ways. I continue to have this support and am so blessed—not many new coaches can say the same.
Divine timing and support also led me to run the weight loss program at a doctor’s office. Over that period of time, I gained a ton of knowledge and experience and really realized how important your mindset is when it comes to weight loss. It further solidified what I already knew: it is not the diet and exercise program that is the major factor in weight loss; it’s all in the mindset! Not only that, but it taught me how to treat my employees (in reverse!). A successful business lies COMPLETELY in how your employees are treated and working at the doctor’s office really made that clear. I am going to be someone who people are proud to work WITH (not for) and a mentor for every single one of Vitality’s employees. Vitality’s employees are going to be treated like family and the business’ success will reflect how proud they are to be a part of it.
Another key success ingredient for Vitality is that I meticulously documented and tracked my journey in pictures (taking one every month on my journey), blogs (over 500 of them), and vlogs (dozens). It enables me to put myself exactly back to where I was when I started and throughout my journey. Not only that, but it helps people understand that I HAVE been there and know exactly what they are going through (because I do!). It also serves as the reference point for my books, workbooks, lectures, articles, and other content that I am going to create to empower others.
The biggest ingredient to my success lies in my Divine support system that is always guiding me, telling me which step to take next, and sending the right clients and helpers into my life at the perfect time. The support and Love I receive from the Universe is the greatest gift I could possibly ask for! With my Divine support system helping me build my intuitive abilities, I effortlessly create content and receive information that allows me to empower and reach others on a soul level (which is extremely powerful!). I have definitely seen a direct correlation between the development of my intuitive abilities and the number of “a-ha moments” I get while I am working with my clients and supporters. My willingness to spend time connecting to the Universe gives me a great advantage that many coaches do not utilize.
Lastly, I am my only responsibility! I don’t have a family to take care of and I can pay my current expenses with my current income, which is consistent. So many people have to worry about what will happen to those who rely on them for financial support if chasing their dream doesn’t work out. While I am confident that I don’t have to worry about whether or not my dream is going to work out, it builds even more confidence when the worse case scenario isn’t a matter of whether or not my family is going to eat or have a place to live (hehe)! I know that no matter how bad it gets, I will always have the necessities I need to survive. This enables me to move forward fearlessly and take risks like some people are unable to, which is very empowering in itself! Only being responsible for myself also means that I can devote a lot of time and energy into the business, which will cause things to move very quickly. How exciting!
