Day 556: Response To Question on Motivation/Staying on Track

Thursday, September 15, 2011

A response to a Sparkie about staying motivated and why she can't stay on track-regardless of how long she's been on Sparks. I forgot to add too-never compare yourself with other people-especially when it comes to weight loss! It will only do you harm!!!

Thanks so much for this vlog, it was very helpful! Are there any other books that you would recommend regarding self-esteem?

I needed this. Since school started I've been off track, and totally forgot that I was reading that book. I've been so down about not putting the time to work out and make healthier choices. Watching this video motivated me to get back on track and go back to reading. Thanks Lauren!

Lauren: It hard to say but, a person has to find things that will allow them learn to love them self. You really can not love someone else unless you can love your self.
God made you so special that no one else has your finger prints. I enjoy your talks as I see it comes from your heart.

thanks Dave

Thank you so much for answering!! I really appreciate it. You are right, it wasn't the answer I expected and yet it was. I know I have a lot of emotional baggage - perfectionism and low self-esteem as you mentioned. I need to just try to get to the root of things, be honest with myself...maybe see my therapist more. As for a free session, I'd love one. I live in Canada though, how would that work?

You're the best!!

Day 555: Re-evaluating My Priorities/Values

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

I had been feeling sort of overwhelmed with everything I wanted to do, so I took it to the basics and came up with a list of what is really most important to me and what genuinely makes me happy. As a recovering perfectionist, I have to be super careful I don't become a workaholic who is always concerned about what I am producing. I came up with this list!

What’s Most Important To Me/What Makes Me Happy:
-Being happy with myself/who I am
-Staying true to who I am
-Helping other people find themselves/being happy with who they are
-Keeping up with my self-development reading/learning new things
-Being a good student
-Not being stressed out about money
-Surrounding myself with positive, like-minded people
-Staying on top of my workouts/finishing what I started
-Spending time with the people that I love
-Creating free, relevant content to help other people
-Being a good friend
-Learning assertiveness/how to say “no” when I don’t want to
-SparkPeople
-Feeling organized
-Structuring out my coaching business

Here are my goals for the next 90 days, based on this list :)

◊ Update my Facebook with relevant content 6/7 days a week
◊ Spend at least 30 minutes on SparkPeople 5/7 days a week
◊ Have at least 5 complimentary sessions a week
◊ Start attending ToastMasters meetings regularly
◊ Read at least seven hours a week
◊ Listen to at least one audiobook every week
◊ Listen to three teleclasses every week
◊ Have 10 clients by the end of the 90 days (and three groups)
◊ Read at least three books on assertiveness
◊ Completely organize my room
◊ Finish my Welcome Packet
◊ Finish my webpage
◊ Finish Soul Coaching
◊ Finish 20 Something 20 Everything
◊ Finish 30 Days to Social Media Success
◊ Finish “Becoming a Professional Life Coach”
◊ Have a budget/plan to manage finances
◊ Establish a to-do list habit again (from scratch--get all the unneccessary minutia out )
◊ Finish days 11-30 of Chalene’s 30 Day Challenge

What are your guys' priority/values?

I am late on replying...Lauren it sounds like you have so much going on. I hope you are able to take time for yourself, to relax. Your spiritual adviser sounds like a good helpful person. Being sensitive to others makes life hard, I am that way too. About your housing situation, can you live with a friend? Or look up online for apartments? I am so sorry, that is stressful!
That woman sounds like a real pain in the butt. Yikes! Some people just don't know when to butt out. I think getting away from her is a good idea.
As for leaving the house you have lived in most of your life, it is very emotionally hard, I did that a few years ago myself, I was there 21 years. But it does get better. Trust me.

Sorry about your housing situation. Hope something/someone comes through for you. Try to be aware of yourself and your emotions, Ask yourself what you're feeling when you laugh through your pain. I'll pray that you will have peace, comfort and shelter. Will be missing your next two classes for my Toastmasters commitment, but I'm sure they will be great.

Seems like you are really overwhelmed, and being a bit hard on yourself on top of it. EVERYBODY needs some down time (not all wasted time is really wasted). :-)

Is there a way to live at your father's and maintain your integrity/remain true to your values?

wow, being sad and not knowing why, i've been there, another a- ha moment.unfortunately, my family is a thing of the past for way different reasons, i have NEVER regretted 1 day of cutting them off. i can totally relate to being called fat every day i lived at home, and when i did leave home too, i really beleived i was fat cause they all told me i was, after i had both my kids i was in a pair of shorts, i weighed 175 pds and thought i looked pretty darn good, my sister snapped a pic of me with a polariod camera and passed it around to my whole family and they just laughed at how big my legs were, thats just 1 example. its awesome that your so in touch with your feelings and why people say the things they do, and you handled it really good. i gotta get better at this. i totally beleive everyone has to surround themselves with people that make you feel good. im working on it!!!! and youve helped me sooooooooooo much!! of course, you already know that!!! :) :) :) emoticon emoticon emoticon
