Thought I would check in--yesterday went good. Nothing really to note..I'm in the 170s again..which is exciting. Probably won't be after this weekend..took a little mini-vacay to visit my little brother at college but I'll get right back there at the beginning of the week most likely.

    wow, it's great seeing you in the flesh. i know of course, we see your pictures (duh, lol) but it's just so much more vivid with video. ok, my last gush that you look beautiful lol. (yes, i'll stop someday, unless you don't want me too lol).

i'll have to go back and see your past video blogs. i had no idea you were doing them. i'll have to make sure i'm still subscribed to you.

anyway, sorry to hear about your injury. i'm curious to know more about it and what happened with myself dealing with my own. so no exercise is allowed of any kind?

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 26 (April 15)

Hi everybody! Thought I would write a blog...

Yesterday I decided to do some beginner's yoga since I was so sore. My legs are no longer all that noticeably sore! woohoo! On the other hand, my knees are still giving me! I decided I am really going to rest up this weekend and give my body all the rest it needs! I don't want to half ass work out today and then end up hurting myself.

I officially haven't been smoking for 2 months! Everyone on here that has quit has been such an inspiration for me!! I'm confident I'm not going to start smoking again--my dad says I'm cocky emoticon

I'm going to do a bit of yoga today but for the most part just relax.

Will write tomorrow, of course.

    Yea on no smoking!! That is a GREAT Smokversary!!!! As for your has actually really helped mine feel better! I think though that you could use the break on your knees for a bit!! Take a rest, feel better and enjoy your weekend!!!

    Congratulations on 2 months without smoking! That's fantastic!

I have discovered that I enjoy yoga and that it has really helped me a lot. But I'm sorry to hear that your knees are still bothering you! Yes, probably wise to rest them a bit and give them a chance to heal. If they aren't better by Monday, you can try exercises that don't use your legs so that you get out of the exercise habit but give your knees time to recover.

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 25 (April 14)

Thought I would write a quick blog for day 25 of my personal challenge! :)

WOW-I woke up this morning feeling sooo sore. I'm not sure what else to do. Both my legs hurt/are sore but I haven't used them now in over a week. I thought it was a pulled muscle..but that feeling has sort of past. Now it is especially hard to walk on my right leg. It feels like I exercised wayyy past my ability..but I didn't. All I was doing was walking to Leslie Sansone DVDs last week and then did one circuit workout at the gym last Tuesday. Does this make sense to anyone? Anyone have something similar happen to them?

I did good on my HH diet yesterday, still looking for group members :)

Gotta go eat breakfast!

    As crazy as it sounds, you need to work through this...carefully. Some light cardio or stretching, maybe even some Yoga. Sometimes, not doing anything because it hurts makes it hurt worse because you aren't flushing the lactic acid out of the muscles. I've been to the point before where moving was torture, but after some light cardio/stretching the soreness started getting better. Good luck and take care.

    I had something kind of similar happen once--I was doing my normal work out, doing fine, doing fine, and then suddenly, soooooo sore. It was like I had over done it, but I had just done my normal workout, which I had been doing for several weeks without problems. My dad's theory is that sometimes your muscles don't completely recover between exercise sessions--so those little tears start to add up until they reach a critical mass and then owie.

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 24 (April 13)

The days sure are flying by! Today is my weigh-in day! Unfortunately I was injured this past week (pulled muscle--so I couldn't work out), started my period, and didn't eat as great. The result is gaining a few pounds (2 and some change). However, it could be quite possible that I didn't gain any weight at all. Whenever I start my period I usually gain a decent amount of water weight. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm guessing I either am about the same weight or lost a little bit less than a pound.

I'm not focusing so much on the scale because there are so many factors that can mess that number up. Especially this week with my period. I worked out for the first time today briefly (trying not to get hurt again). I'm still a bit sore, but nothing too bad. I'm refraining from doing Leslie's kicks.

I read this small book on walking called "Walk it Off"--I picked it up at the grocery store. I loveeee walking and I've been trying to incorporate it into my routine. I want to make sure I'm walking at least 10,000 steps daily.

    You are doing great! And it is great that you can keep the weigh-in in perspective. I haven't really weighed around my period yet, so I am not sure if I actually gain, but I sure feel like I am sloshing around in a bit of extra water weight around then!

I am sorry you have a pulled muscle. Do some light stretching, and use a heating pad before exercise, if you have one. It can help loosen it up. And then if it is bothering you, use ice after any activity. You are going to be back to normal in no time!

    I like your positive attitude! I also weigh in on Wednesdays, and it is also my TOM. Maybe we are twins! Just kidding.

I hurt my knee doing a Cindy Whitmarsh video On Demand, and it's been bothering me every since. I didn't want to stop doing the Shred, so I did all of the low-impact modifications until it got better. Maybe try a hot bath with epsom salt. I do hope you feel better soon. emoticon

    Yeah, I always put on water weight on my period, and my clothes feel tight and I feel bloated and generally icky. Bah.

Sorry to hear that you pulled a muscle! That can really hurt. Take it easy and make sure that you're not pushing yourself too hard--sounds like you're being pretty careful though.

Walking really does work for helping you lose weight. It can make quite a difference. Enjoy getting your 10,000 steps in!
