40 Day Personal Challenge Day 22 & 23 (April 11 & 12)

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Sorry I didn't write yesterday. I was very busy. Most of my friends are still in college and the semester is wrapping up for them. That means I'm writing their papers :)..haha. Unfortunately I didn't have time to write.

I had a pretty bad couple of days. I binged on a lot of junk food and most likely went over my caloric limits (I didn't track). I've learned repeatedly I can't beat myself up though, which I am not going to. I'm not planning on drinking until I go for my weekend visit back to my college town the last weekend in April. That will help me concentrate on my goals. I have so much pressure to drink with my friends...but these goals are so much more important to me. I really want to stick with them. Because of this, I'm going to give up drinking again.

I'm going to re-start the Hilton Head Metabolism diet tomorrow. My sister said she would eat (within reason) whatever she wanted on the weekends. I don't think that works very well for me because I am unable to control myself once I start eating foods that are bad for me. I guess I can look at my blunder as a boost to what my metabolism recognizes as my caloric intake if nothing else. I gained 2.8 pounds since I went off the diet Friday morning. I think a lot of it may be water weight because I had sooo much sodium this weekend and wasn't as good about drinking lots of water.

My step-program is going to go like this:
Step One: 182.8 to 164.6 (-18.2 lbs) -or- six weeks
Step Two: 164.6 to 148.2 (-16.2 lbs) -or- six weeks
Step Three: 148.2 to 133.4 (-14.8 lbs) -or- six weeks
Step Four: 133.4 to 125 (-8.4 lbs) -or- six weeks

The steps are just how much weight you lose before you go into two weeks of maintaining (you don't stay on the diet more than 6 weeks at a time). It helps boost your metabolism again and makes it so you don't get sick of the diet.

Here's to a new day!!

Join my Hilton Head Metabolism group if you want to continue on the journey with me!! We need more members. I will be posting the menus on there today.

I had a step back yesterday so I feel ya honey! But like you said...MOVE ON. That is what I am doing. It is a very good decision to give up the drinking for a little while. Empty calories and all right? I am giving up my beloved wine for a year...ugggg! emoticon

Sounds like its a good idea to avoid drinking alcohol and eating foods that aren't good for you if you tend to binge on them. Think of it as a lesson learned--tried that, didn't work, won't try that one again. So it wasn't a waste, because you learned something, and will do better next time.

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 21 (April 10)

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Ahh..today is week 3 of my personal challenge. So happy I've made it this far!! Thanks everyone for their support!!!

So I really messed up my right leg somehow...the calf and by the knee are not feeling too great and haven't been for the past couple of days. I have taken one and a half off and it still isn't helping much. Boo! I think when I was weight lifting last week I did it. I haven't weight lifted since but I was still doing my Leslie DVDs and she has a lot of kicking in there. I think I could have made it worse before I stopped working out. I guess I'll take today off again and see how it feels tomorrow.

Yesterday was the weekend, for the diet you're supposed to go in the "booster stage" and eat 250 more calories a day to keep your metabolic rate up. My sister said she ate anything (within reason) on the weekends and that it helped boost her metabolism even more and didn't make the diet seem so repetitive. I think I'm going to take her advice and for Fridays and Saturdays eat more calories and not stick to the diet plan. I think it makes me more likely to be back on..plus, I don't really care if it takes me a little bit longer to lose the weight if at the same time I'm able to indulge every once in awhile. I'm going to try to still keep my sodium intake down during these dates.

Well, I can't workout today..boo..but I will check in with you guys tomorrow :)

I hope that your leg feels better soon! It's frustrating to have to stop for an injury, but it's important to let it heal properly.

I think it's a good idea to let yourself have some leeway for "fun" foods, as long as you don't go overboard--it makes it easier to stick to the plan for he long run.

I hope your leg starts to feel better soon! If it still hurts after about a week, you might need to see a doctor just to make sure you didn't do any serious damage.

I think letting yourself indulge every once in a while is a great idea... within reason! I usually give myself one day each week where I can eat pretty much whatever, but I still try to stay near my calorie range with it. I have already gotten so much better at judging portion sizes. I can have the yummy foods and still stay within my ranges. It's great!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

    Happy weekend!

I know how you feel; you've probably pushed a little too hard and you may need a break. I did that after I lost 25 lbs and went into a holding pattern to reset. I stayed within my range but was at the top of my calorie range not the bottom. My BMR is 1880 calories so as long as I don't eat more than that on an average I know I will lose. So for 3 months I didn't lose, but I didn't gain either. Now I'm back on plan. I think I needed to just rest a bit before the next push.

I say, relax, get a message and rest up for the next round! You deserve it!

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 20 (April 9)

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Hey guys..today is day 20 of my personal challenge...halfway there unitl I am completely done!!

I drank for the first time yesterday in since the day before Valentine's Day. I had given that and smoking up for Lent. I don't know how I used to drink so regularly. It's fun, I must admit...but I don't think I'll be doing that again for awhile.

I stayed within my calorie ranges, but added an extra meal yesterday because I was up later (pasta with marinara).

    That's great!

Nothing wrong with having the occasional drink. Sparks tends to recommend steering clear of alcohol because it's empty calories and because it lowers your ability to control what you eat. But that doesn't mean that it's a bad thing to have a drink now and then--all things in moderation.

It's definitely ok to indulge in a drink every once in a while. I haven't had more than 1 Margarita, or 1 glass of wine at a time in FOREVER! It just seems weird to me now to drink more than that! LOL.

I am glad you are doing well! Keep up the good work!

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 18 & 19 (April 7 & 8)

Friday, April 09, 2010

Oops, I kinda messed up my personal challenge. Without even realizing it, I didn't blog yesterday! Boo..that kind of sucks. But at the same time, I think the whole part of this journal is being accountable and making sure you check in everyday. I was on Spark People yesterday and met all of my goals :)

I started the Hilton Head Metabolism diet last Tuesday..and I've already lost 2.8 pounds in 3 days of dieting and exercise! I weighed in today at 180 even! Hopefully tomorrow I will be in the 170's again! FINALLY..I haven't been there in like a year I'd say. I walk with Leslie everyday-love her DVDs...they give me such a workout but at the same time I feel like I can keep up.

YAY..I love you guys!! Hope your journeys are going good as well!

You're doing so fantastically! I'm curious about these Walk dvds with Leslie, but is she annoying? Or perky? I can't handle that. Haha

Keep up the great work because you're doing great!

Don't be too hard on yourself for missing a day of blogging--especially since you met the rest of your goals. You're doing a fantastic job.

Keep it up Lauren! And even if you miss a day here or there - remember it's no biggie! Sometimes it's so easy to get down on ourselves for missing a point in our goal-plan, that we become apathetic about getting back on the horse and keeping at it.

Good luck getting back into the 170s (you can do it!!), and thanks for the friend-add!

Hope your Friday is off to a great start, and the weekend is looking good!

40 Day Personal Challenge Day 17 (April 6)

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

Yesterday was day 17 of my personal challenge! I am proud to say that I have lost 15.4 pounds since I began my journey on March 10..woohoo! I would have never been able to do it without your guys' support! :)

I also started the Hilton Head Metabolism diet yesterday and I'm loving it..gives me lots of energy and plenty of food broken up into small meals..I was actually surprised how satisfied I was.

Still looking for members to join my group. And looking forward to continuing on my journey even more. I have been doing Leslie Sansone's walking workouts..love them. Don't want to work too hard since I am on a low-cal diet though. :)

xoxox.

Whoo hoo! Congrats on losing 15.4 lbs! That's great!

Smart not to exercise too hard on a low fat diet... I can't help but worry that you won't get enough calories as it is. Everything I've read says that if you short yourself on calories it can actually slow your metabolism down, which is the opposite of what you're trying to do.
