Day 281: Something's Clicking...

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Hey my little Sparkies! Haven't written in awhile. To be honest, I haven't really been wanting to blog. You know how they say that blogging is great for accountability? Well..haha, it wasn't doing that for me anymore. Just because I was writing in here did not mean that I was following through with my plans. It was almost working in the opposite way (making me feel bad about myself) because I felt stupid reporting that I failed. haha. No bueno.

The good news is I'm back on track..haha..and I think I'll report a loss for December. Fingers crossed (as long as the holidays/my birthday doesn't get the best of me-haha). Bodybugg is working really well for me when I am tracking my calories. I am going back to basics-water and tracking are my numero unos. Gotta make sure I'm doing that. When I have my water-I don't eat mindlessly as much when I'm bored. SO-8 glasses (at least) a day-it's on again! haha. I was seriously drinking like a gallon a day for awhile and then just stopped-definitely a great habit I need to pick up again. Tracking is good too if you're trying to be don't realize how everything adds up together until you do track!

The good news is that I'm feeling super motivated! When I was doing my best with food..I would literally get excited to plan healthy meals. It almost became a game to can I make a meal I absolutely love (but isn't all that great for me) healthy? It was fun! I had that feeling for the first time this's an awesome one :)

I'm still doing TurboFire...going to mix The Shred/NMTZ in there as well. I love TurboFire, but her core workout sucks. haha. And I feel like there needs to be a bit more strength training :).

How are you all? Fabulous, I hope!

Glad to hear you're getting back on track and feeling better about what you're doing. I feel like I'm almost doing the same. November was a bad month for me and I'm not letting Dec be the same.

Joined a new team with new challenges every week. Which is great for me so I don't get bored. This week we are tracking our food, and this is always hard for me. But so far so good!

Keep it going girly!

Glad to hear that you're feeling better. I just re-started week 4 of Turbofire and I also had reservationsa about the lack of ST. I find the core workout challenging, but maybe I'm a weenie lol! Thankfully there is a little more ST after week 4.

It's really hard to stay on track in December--too many conflicting priorities. But I'm glad that you're getting back on track! I'm sure you can end the year on a high note!

you'll actually find it not that hard in many cases to make a recipe healthier. a lot of ground beef recipes i make for the week i use ground turkey instead. i never use salt in my recipes and look for other ways to use something instead - like garlic powder or pepper.

this is still great that you are reaching out here and telling the good and the bad. believe me, all of us want to hear how you are whether rosy or thorny ;)

Girl, I totally know what you mean! Don't you find December the HARDEST month to stay on track?? Too many holiday festivities, and they always surround food and drinks!
I say we just do our best staying on track MOST of the time, and try not to beat ourselves up when we indulge!

I know the feeling of not wanting to blog. I have just begin to blog more. Even when I don't follow through with my plans, I tend to do better if I blog. It keeps me accountable and helps me get back on track quicker. We all do stupid things. But with each day, we have an opportunity to do better. Your blog is my 1st inspiration of the day. Keep going! emoticon

wow--you seem to be keeping busy (or trying really hard to)--i'm just getting my motivation back myself, so i feel ya there. been on here blogging about everything BUT exercise the past month, but its time to change things...again...but at least its getting easier to get back on the bandwagon)

keep going strong and have oodles of fun. I'll send a virtual-calorie free, homemade sweet potato pie with chocolate crust slice to ya. enjoy the day!

Glad you are back blogging and back on track again. I've had some off track streaks myself as I know everyone does. The secret is to just keep on tracking no matter what and it will eventually come back. Good for you!

Day 275: Yesterday Was GOOD..FINALLY! And Ditching The Scale...

Wednesday, December 08, 2010

Hey y' I have exciting news..yesterday I was actually good ! :) yayy!

I have decided to ditch the scale..I'm not sure for how long. It's not being very motivating right now. haha. So goooodbyeeee scale.

I will be measuring my progress through these ways:

*How many glasses of water I'm drinking (aiming for at least half my body weight a day in ounces)
*Whether or not I reach my daily deficit goals
*Whether or not I'm following TurboFire the way I should be (I'm on day 8! woohoo! haha)

I'm also going to be continuing with the Beck Diet Solution Workbook...lots of good stuff in there! :)

For whatever reason, I tend to notice a gain or no movement on the scale when I begin an intense exercise program. It seems to take a few weeks to catch up. I'm not sure if it is typical, but you may be experiencing the same phenomenon with Turbo Fire. I'm will complete week 2 of TF tomorrow and have zero to report according to the scale, but my pants are fitting looser. I've put the scale away for now too.

Day 273: ????

Monday, December 06, 2010

haha-I'm stumped. No matter how hard I try, I can't stop derailing my efforts (it seems like). haha-I don't know what to do! Good thing is that I'm still staying on top of working out--I think I'm gonna take a step back though..haha. I am not going to weigh-in and just not make any set in stone plans. I'll still be around Sparks though :)..any ideas for motivation?

SOLONGSUE 12/7/2010 9:04PM

I've taken breaks along the way. I stayed loosely connected to SP and mindful of what I was eating, but not rigid. I also kept exercising. I did not weigh in and just accepted this was part of my journey. I came back in a short time and was able to get going again.

This is a tough time of year and probably not a good time to disconnect, but you can lessen your expectations of yourself to better match your motivation level - just commit that you will get back on track when ready. BTW, I have convinced myself little breaks are good training for when I actually get to maintenance.

Changing things up when you're struggling seem like a good plan to me-stay active, stay trying to eat healthy foods and otherwise make healthy choices, but shift your focus, your activities, try something new.

As for motivation....

Work on a new vision collage? Re-evaluate your goals and priorities and see if any have shifted?

Become active in your teams, maybe join a team challenge or two.

Read people's blogs and give whoo hoo's to people who are doing well and encouragement for those who are struggling--that comes back 10 fold.

Pick a short term goal you want to achieve and set a fun reward for making it

Go back to the beginning and focus on some of the beginning spark breaks, like eating more whole grains, or more water, or getting in at least 10 minutes of exercise a day--where ever you are struggling.

Treat yourself to some new exercise equipment, or a work out outfit, or maybe a new healthy (but delicious) cookbook.

the fact that you came here for advice is still a positive sign that you haven't lost motivation completely.

as someone else suggested, be active (or step-up your activity) with one or more of the sparkteams you're a member of.

plus, i don't know if you're in a warm part of the US (esp right now - I sure ain't lol), but look into joining running, biking, or swimming teams if you have any around.

Perhaps pull out your podcasts! Or decide on 1 goal for the day. Water is one of my challenges so when I really get off track I set a goal for 1 glass the first day....2 glasses the next day you get the picture. Sometimes when we are overwhelmed it becomes a little difficult to press forward. BREATH!!!! Hugs

Day 270: Goals for 12/3-12/9

Friday, December 03, 2010

I decided I was going to write my goals for the week I said, I'm going back to basics. haha. Here they are:

[ ] Keep up with BodyBugg Tracking
[ ] Split supplements up for the whole week
[ ] Grocery shop for the HHMD
[ ] Track before I eat
[ ] Follow The Beck Diet Solution (2 days at a time since I've already done most of the steps for now)
[ ] Re-read The Spark
[ ] Start on stage one of the SparkPeople strategy
[ ] Write three things I did right every night, one thing I could work on
[ ] Fix computer screen/buy part
[ ] Prepare meals beforehand on work days
[ ] Make budget/start using it
[ ] Completely clean room
[ ] Completely clean car
[ ] Spark when I get home instead of eating when I'm not hungry
[ ] Don't eat the munchies in the kitchen at work..haha
[ ] No weighing myself (to encourage me to stay on there won't be any bad surprises, haha)
I'm working on a lot of these things today--it's my day off work :)

Day 270: Back to Basics...

Friday, December 03, 2010

So yesterday I went and picked up the paperback version of The Spark. Passed off the hardcover to my aunt. This one has some new material in it. I also picked up The Beck Solution Weight Loss Work Book..for anyone just starting out, this seems like a REALLY great workbook to start with. I read a lot of these workbooks at the bookstore to get ideas for work...but this is one of the better ones. It would be a good companion to Sparks...same ideas.

Sooo...I'll be re-reading that and starting from square one. haha. Should have a couple of blog entries today.

Have a fantastic weekend :)
