Why I choose Pain

Thursday, August 12, 2010

If you are a chronic pain sufferer you will understand what I am about to share.

I live in pain everyday of my life. I choose to do this because the alternative is to be pain free, but have NO life. If you are wondering what I mean by this, I cannot do most anything drugged up. There is a limit to the medications I can take due to my kidney disease. Nsaids are great for OA, but Nsaids could be the cause of my kidney disease.

My average pain level is between a 5 and 7 every day, all the time, non-stop. Some days, a very good day, my pain level might be a 3. However, I do not choose to be pain free to be a martyr, I choose it so I can function as normal as possible. Most pain meds that could give me relief cause me to be loopy as if drunk. I will not function like that. I choose LIFE.

I have sought out pain relief with message therapy , strength training, exercise that is non-weight bearing, ect. And prayer. God is refuge. His grace is sufficient.

If you have been praying for me due to my pain, Thank you and God Bless you!

I didn't realize that you dealt with pain like. I'm such a crybaby, I just don't know how you do it. I'm glad you can be there for your family though. If you were "knocked out" you would miss so much.

I'm praying for you!

I suffer from pain as well. I don't like the way many of them make me feel or the other unintended things they can do to my body.

Hopefully we'll both find something that will take the pain away or make it bearable.

Pain is never fun. Like you, I live with it from having arthritis in my spine and the two lowest discs almost gone. But the option of disc replacement and still have te arthritis is not appealing. Do I want to be like several friends who had back surgery and were worse off due to it? Not at all. So we live on pain killers, Excedrin or something similar and bear it the best we can. What would it be like to have one day without pain? I'm not sure we'd recognize it if it happened. Continued prayers for us both. emoticon -- Lou

DESIDERATA
=========

"This hung on a plaque in my college room, it still applies."

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what
peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms
with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they
too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to
the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain
or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser
persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble, it's a
real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world
is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what
virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and
everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither
be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and
disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully
surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden
misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark
imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and
loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and
the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the
universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him
to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the
noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still
a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

Taking a Spark Break... Roy lost his battle with cancer

Friday, June 25, 2010

Thank you all for your prayers for Roy. He went home to heaven this morning.
I am taking a Spark Break this week to be with my family.
Please keep my family in prayer, as Roy is the 3rd child my father in law has had to bury in his lifetime. My Mom in law passed two years ago.
Don, my hubby, is doing the best he can at this time.
Thank you all so much.

Earthquake in Michigan

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Today in Brockway Michigan we had an EarthQuake.
We are not prone to EarthQuakes.
I was upstairs loading updates on the computer when my cabinet started rocking. I knew we had severe storm warnings for most of the day and into the night, but did not think about an earthquake. I found out we had an earthquake that registered 5.0.

Yikes! I didn't feel it, but we had a humdinger of a thunderstorm with tornado watch. That tornado through here a couple weeks ago was too close for comfort. This is an odd summer.

I live in Ottawa, so we were just a bit close to the center than you, but yes, it definitly was an earthquake, and a moderate one at that.

Funny story. One of our neighbours is from a part of the world were earth quakes are more common. In fact, as a child her village was hit by a deadly earth quake, and through her life she has experienced several smaller ones.

She had some trade people in putting in a new hot water heater just when it hit. They dropped the water tank and ran out of the house shouting what is happening.

She calmly stated, "That's an earth quake. Haven't you ever felt an earth quake before?"

Isn't diversity wonderful?

Take care
