Grateful

Monday, December 10, 2012

I am so grateful for SparkPeople. The articles are so informative and the community support makes me feel like I have a stadium full of people cheering me on! It is also so motivating to hear the stories of people who have lost weight and changed their lives. I am going to be one of those soon! Thank you guys!

Christmas Party

Sunday, December 09, 2012

While I was not thrilled with my food choices at the party last night, I know without a doubt that I did much better last night than I did last year at the same party. And I was energized and so ready for my morning walk!

Tis the season to overeat! We all need a day off every now and then. Nice job eating better at this year's party than last years.. it's these seemingly small changes that we incorporate into our lives that will make the biggest differences in the long run! Way to go getting back on track today and getting out there for your walk. emoticon

New Pedometer

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Got a new pedometer in the mail yesterday. In two weeks I lost one pedometer and flushed my FitBit down the toilet. It is true that I am much more active when I know that my steps "count"!

A shame to lose your FitBit! I like to wear my pedometer, but I don't trust it.

Drama at work

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Drama at work today - - a co-worker called a department meeting and started blaming other staff for negative attitudes. She publicly "called me out" and I responded calming and appropriately. I spoke my mind and it was not flattering to her. Normally, I would obsess all day about this, but when I walked out of the meeting, I found that I didn't need to be right, didn't need to make her wrong and I was so very proud of myself! I used to have the tendency to let people run over me and feared confrontation. All I could think is that this is not my normal reaction and my "new world" is pretty good! I think I have my stress management techniques and the success in my program to thank. She didn't do her job and I wasn't going to take that responsibility from her. This is the new me and I like her! She is a warrior! emoticon

Happy Veterans Day

Monday, November 12, 2012

Two weeks ago I heard stories of 5 POWs from WWII. It made me think how our complaints pale in light of what they went through. Thank you to all veterans -- past, present, and future. Without your service we would not have the life we have now.

I.'m a Vet & a nurse at a VA hospital. A few years back, the WW II vets had a meeting in Albuquerque. One came in for care & we chatted. He had turned 16 on the boat going to Normandy. Can you imagine a 15 or 16 year old boy fighting for our country today?
