Goals Revisited

Friday, December 06, 2013

I've been off-track for a few weeks, especially with my nutrition. It seems like I lost motivation at the beginning of November and slowly went down from there. I just spent a week at my folks house and went crazy with the eating. It showed on my weigh-in this week. I see a pattern, as I tend to do really well with eating right and exercising for the first 4 or 5 months, then I get burned out and slip back into my old habits. I don't want that to happen again this time. I want to be successful! I want to be healthy! I want to eat right! I want to feel good about myself!

I need to put my goals back into writing. I hope this will help get my head back into the game.

1. Track all food daily
2. Drink 64 oz water daily
3. Exercise 5 days/wk for at least 30 minutes
4. Check in with my BLC23 team board daily
5. Limit white/starchy/sugary foods to 1 serving a day
6. Post a blog at least once a week

I signed up for the BLC24, so I hope the support will continue to motivate me for another 12 weeks.

"THE GOOD NAPKINS"

Ahhhhh ... The joys of having girls.

My mother taught me to read when I was four years old
(her first mistake).

One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the cabinet doors was ajar. I read the box in the cabinet. I then asked my mother why she was keeping ''napkins' in the bathroom. Didn't they belong in the kitchen?

Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that those were for 'special occasions' (her second mistake).

Now fast forward a few months....It's Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up my uncle and his wife for dinner. Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone. Mine was to set the table.

When they returned, my uncle came in first and immediately burst into laughter. Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling. Next came my father, who roared with laughter. Then came Mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw each place setting on the table with a 'special occasion' Kotex napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top. I had even tucked the little tail in so they didn't hang off the edge! !

My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of laughter.
'But, Mom, you said they were for special occasions!!!'

Pass this on to your friends who need a good laugh or anyone who has a daughter!

Life is too short for drama & petty things, so kiss slowly, laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly....and for heavens sake, use the good napkins whenever you can!

I'll use the good china, but I rarely drag out the linen napkins. I have to wash and IRON those!

Thanks for the chuckle and very well written!

Thought Of The Week

Monday, October 14, 2013

This is from an email I got at work and wanted to share:

Autumn turns our attention to trees and their annual practice of shedding leaves. It is a natural process and one that reminds us that …

… it is sometimes necessary to let go of something that has been with us for a while;
… we sometimes have to risk leaving ourselves exposed in order to receive the reward of renewal;
… in spite of loss, we can find the strength to remain tall and strong; and
… we are constantly evolving and every experience is valuable to our growth.

This week, reflect upon the “leaves” you want to shed. Mentally let them go and envision yourself unhindered and confidently facing the promising and cooler breezes of things to come.

    I find it hard to decide what I want to let go of there are so many things. I guess I need to decide on just one thing and try that.
