It's A Family Affair

Saturday, July 17, 2010

The re-scheduled family reunion which was originally for July 4th weekend became today's gathering. Seeing my husband's family was a treat. Although the park was HOT, we all enjoyed the music, relaxing scenery, and a nearby wedding reception in the pavilion.
I just knew I wasn't going to track my food. Fitness came from set-up and clean-up.
Gotta finish tracking now...

Worked it, BABY!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Got up at 7:30 to walk/jog at 7:55 - 9:00am. My gorgeous husband decided to walk with me.
I felt like a sheepish little girl whose prince charming just kissed her. (We have that kind of giddy love for each other after 18 years)
I must say his faster pace pushed me farther than I would've pushed myself.
I suppose I have been missing a workout buddy all this time.
Now he's in the yard working more cardio as I "Spark" inside planning the family's healthy lunch and dinner for later.
Yes, we "worked it", baby!!!

Way to go soror! It's nice to walk with a partner, especially your honey-do! My honey-do has been helping me get in the miles. Since Saturday we have walked 11 miles...By the way, I will celebrate 32 years in August! We are not as giddy...but it's not bad... emoticon

Work it Soror emoticon . Way to get your workout in this AM. I got up at 5:30AM to hit the road, so didn't get a workout in today. I will try to do some pushups, crunches and other things today before I lay my head down. emoticon

Doin' the Independence Challenge BABY!!!!

Wednesday, July 07, 2010

At 7:45am I am jogging along for 12 blocks til I reach the cloudy beach. Look up at a HUGE rain cloud. "No God, please don't let this happen to me".
I figured that I've come too far to turn back now. So I think perhaps I'll just jog a few blocks and then turn around. OH NO!!!!!
The terrential rain pelts down atop my drenched visor. Beads of droplets penetrate my hair, workout gear, and the shades I immediately remove. Darn, did my phone get wet, too? It did.
So I finally spot a safe haven beneath an awning.
The rain settles. I proceed to jog closer to home. Whoa! Downpour...
I jog my way through each droplet. What? I'm locked out. GREAT!!!!

What is your definition of independence?
Most of us would say, "Independence means freedom to make choices without prejudices of others interferring".
Some may say, "Independence is the act of expressing one's self wholeheartedly."

Whatever your definition, may you be free to embrace your inalienable rights as a proud American in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others.

Happy Independence Day to all: July 4th, 2010!!!

As a wife of a Soldier in Afghanistan, and a Veteran, I am so grateful that we have freedoms to worship our God, to speak, and to live. However, I also believe that it is important that with that freedom we make choices that are responsible and healthy. emoticon emoticon

As a descended of many nationalities I so appreciate all those who came before me for what they endured so I may take pride and enjoy in my independence. emoticon Hope you had a great 4th as well! emoticon

Realizing Death Is Non-negotiable

Monday, June 28, 2010

After 2 weeks of news of people dying among my colleagues, I have come to the frightening conclusion that so many people around me are leaving in massive numbers. Is June "time to go now" month?
Really, colleague's mother: a few days ago...
Another colleagues wife: this morning...
Another colleague herself...last week.
I even had a dream that I was in a cemetary reading names of people's tombstones- all were still alive at this moment in reality. At the end of the dream, I read my own name. Spooky, huh? It was almost like the movie "The Sixth Sense".
Lesson to self (confirmation): Live life to the fullest and don't take life for granted.
