What's Up in April?

Monday, April 01, 2013

April Fools Day.

I always hated the term since I was a child. The bullies in my elementary school enjoyed it a bit too much for me. Although I wasn't the one being bullied, I hated seeing others mistreated.

So I chose to combine a few "foolish" mistakes I've made when I was new to the site.

1. grossly miscalculated food and drinks I tracked.
By default, many meats are indicated in units, not servings, so I may have out 1 slab of bacon for all I knew.

2. Getting points by mistake. Sooooooo did not know what the heck I was doing.
"let's select this to see what happens..." Hmmmm...eventually I earned a trophy. COOL!
Yep. I was really stupid. Like getting a new cell phone. Who reads the manual? Only if problems arise, right?

3. The trivia questions - I should know this based on ???...Oh! Articles I've read.
Duh! I was probably scoring in the lowest point range. No need for even looking at the leader board. It's not like I'd ever be listed.
Nice to know though... emoticon

4. Last, but not least, getting friends. Hey! I never "clicked" anybody for a while until I realized that I could pick them as a friend. They'd also have to "friend" me. Don't laugh. I JUST opened a Facebook account. Go figure!

Well, I was a fool. Why? I should've READ what to do and followed the directions. This is what I teach my students to do.

Feel free to tell me about your "foolish" actions you committed on this site. Let's all get a good laugh. See. No bullying here! emoticon

Before I discovered the button to click to "friend" somebody, I used the search thing for finding a buddy, then sent out sparkmails asking people to be my friend. Couldn't figure out why no one was responding. Later, after I knew a little more, I looked for their sparkpages. Most of them had not been active on Spark for months or years, emoticon Ooops!

It seems that every week I learn how to do or find something new on Spark. In the beginning it was information overload.

This is an eye opener blog for sure! Let's see I stopped tracking my food, at the beginning did not weigh it. When I started I never read the label because I did not want to know what a serving size really was. Thank you for making me think about those things and how far I have improved. Feel free to check out my newest blog!

My foolish mistake? Not trusting the system. I signed up for Spark about 5 ago AFTER having lost over 100 pounds. I became so overwhelmed by everything...articles, tools, the wheel, message boards...that I just gave up and ran away. If only I had taken the time to explore, ask questions or READ what to do, like you stated, I would have realized what a great free resource this is sooner!

LOL Loved your blog today! I have done so many foolish things I've lost count. The biggest mistake was to stop loving myself. Now I've got 50 pounds of too much me to lose. Glad I got back on track with that! Yay Sparkfriends!

When I started overeating I stopped tracking, and turned a blind eye to the tracker. That was my most foolish thing I did.

Easter Blessings

Saturday, March 30, 2013

This holiday is one of my favorites.
Any holiday which recognizes my redeemed saviour is definitely a favorite...Christmas, Easter, Passover, Good Friday, and All Saints Day.

On this day and the other 364 days, I pray the Lord will abundantly bless all of my sparkfriends with each one's needs met. I pray that the efforts each one puts in will yield a positive return with health benefits abound. I pray no illness will become an obstacle deterring my friends from reaching goals toward guarding their temple. We are all created in God's image which devinely shows how God created many masterpieces.

Sacrificing His only begotten Son is the icing on my Maker's cake. Forgiveness...Eternal life...need I say more?

Easter Blessings!

5% Awesome Challenge Week 5

Sunday, March 24, 2013

On my grind, baby!

I am committed to exercise 15 minutes a day (or more).
I will rest 1 day in between workouts.
Track it!

I am committed to reading God's Word at least twice a week.
"The lamp unto my feet and light unto my path".

I will stay within my calorie limit by planning ahead of time and eat mindfully.
Track it!

I will track everything I do.
Did I say,"track it"?

My plan is THE PLAN!
I have made a commitment much like a marriage, I don't intend to break it.
For better or worse...for richer or poor (I workout at home or outside) totally free!
In sickness and in health...Uh...I will be healthy as a result.

Since we are into a new week, I am making my weekly goal a fresh, Palm Sunday new beginning week.

What's your plan for success?

emoticon I plan to go back to the basics... I discovered Cheez Its and Gold Fish Crackers this week and they are not helping me reach my goal. Although I stay within range each day I really don't have a use for Cheez Its, so back to the basics here plus I can eat so much more when it is fresh fruits and veggies.

Why I Love David Letterman

Saturday, March 23, 2013

He's truly an honest comedian who doesn't give a darn about being politically correct.
Just love this!

Funny! Funny! Funny!

(If wasn't using my iPad, I'd insert his photo, but I can't while "sparking")

emoticon Here's to humor and down-to-earth comedy on weeknights when I need a little boost!
Thanks Dave!

Week 3- 5% Challenge Appreciation

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Since my 5% Challenge Team is so darn emoticon I want to dedicate this blog to the leaders and members.

Ceriusly, KalisWalker, Minna72, KristinsGoals,MimawElizabeth, SandyMisa, & LiveRightNow all lead by example. emoticon

The challenges have helped me to build better habits and bring out the dogmatic, competitive spirit in me. This is truly a good thing!

I hope that I can not only learn to practice these habits for a lifetime, but be a better leader on the 2 teams I lead on this site.

emoticon Spinning my wheels,
emoticon Posting my results,
emoticon Staying positive,
emoticon Putting my BEST foot forward,
& emoticon Eating healthy foods are my continuous plan on this team.
Success all the way!

I plan to be truly emoticon
